    I think it would be great if you could repeat this testing during a hot summer day.

    When I first got my Trek Top with the Sunrider feature, I loved it! We spent 10 days in Moab and running the trails around Ouray. I loved the Sunrider feature in Moab. Unfortunately, I soon discovered that if it was any hotter than 70 degrees out AND sunny, the top and windows had to be open or the A/C has to be run on high to make it tolerable in the Jeep. If is cloudy or cooler than 70, it is ok. If you open the Sunrider on a sunny day, don’t forget the sunscreen….. I am driving my 2020 JLUR with the back and side windows out now , safari mode, to see if the additional airflow helps. I guess with everything in life there are trade offs.

    This test is kinda bogus. Because who would ride around in that temp without running the heater? The better test would be to run both jeeps to operating temp. Run the heater till the inside of the jeep reached a certain temp then turn both motors off and see which top kept heat in better. Or in the summer time which kept the cool in longer. Because a cold jeep is a cold jeep. And your test comparing the jeeps just sitting there all day actually proved the hardtop is better because it seems to have held its inside temp better where as the soft top fluctuated greatly. Meaning less insolation.

    does this mean that a soft top would be hotter in the summer? I live in the south where it can get up to 110 throughout the summer. I'm really considering painting the hardtop white.

    Have you done any long term tests on the affect of salt to the fabric and windows? I really have switching the tops but I’m concerned with what the road treatment will do to the soft top

    Ok... But heat the jeeps up on a cold night and let it sit getting hout fit about 30 minutes then letting it sit for 30 minutes and see which loses more heat

    What about a hail storm would it be likely to tear

  • @BestopTeam

    @BestopTeam

    It depends on the hail, I've seen soft tops survive hail and not so much the Jeep but then I've seen golf ball size or larger hail and seen it ruin soft tops and the Jeep.

    It is likely to be about the same in summer as well. I would suggest leaving your windows open slightly to vent the cab with either the hard top or a soft top.

    The test should be taken on the road with the heat set in each with the temp at the same setting. Then see which holds the heat the best. I've got both , hard and soft tops and live in Canada. I can tell you that the soft tops are not as warm as the hard tops. I've had both on CJ's, TJ's and JK's, and on each jeep, the hard top was warmer and the real glass windows were easy to remove ice off of without damage. You guys make an excellent product, but don't try to make false claims about its performance.

    Hi, Keith! No, we did not use any sort of insulators on the hardtop like the factory headliner option. We see more customers without this option than with it.

    No , my Wife and I Live in Northern Minnesota.. I had a 2011 Wrangler Sport Unlimited with the Hard Top , I currently own a 2018 Wrangler 2 Dr. With the Soft Top , at one time many years ago I Owned a 77 CJ-5 with the Soft Top , now the 77s Heater was in no way what my 2011 and 2018s is , the Newer Jeeps have great Heaters , I find no Heating issues even at -40 Below Zero ..
