    First of all your Parrot seems really well cared for! Their setup is simply beautiful and full of just the right things and foraging opportunities! They seem clean and their feathers seems healthy which mean your bird showers frequently, lots of people struggle with bird bathing and their bird is itching and it just makes me happy to see a clean happy birds. Second, I clicked because I don’t see much Pionus on the internet, I heard a long time ago that they’re like the golden retriever of the parrot world, that their temperament is mellow and that they’re overall great and I wondered if that was true. I enjoyed seeing how well cared your bird is it makes me happy.

    For anybody who can’t get a hold of distractible natural material toys or shipping is really expensive for those you can get a hold of, I have utilized organic disposables, craft papers, organic cardboards and untreated sisal twine for my bird’s toys, I DIY them all. You can also throw them into the compost bin if you have one when your bird is done with them.

    Such a sweet bird, and so quiet, so I guess they would make good apartment birds for people with neighbours. Nice that you mentioned Bird Tricks - a wonderful informative channel. What some people don't realise is that the wrong diet will not only lead to physical health problems but also behavioural issues too.

    @@stellaandcharlie Very cool. I have a papillon too. She's a descendant of Kirby: a papillon from the 90's who won the Westminster. I don't know too much about that. I don't show her. She's just my buddy. And my green cheek conure is legit one of my best friends. I've been wanting an additional, larger bird too, but NOT one who can lop off a finger, like a macaw or cockatoo. A Pionus seems like the largest bird size I'd go.

    Thanks! I personally don't have experience with housing Pionus with other birds, but I know a few people who have other species with them, as well as other pionus, and there are no problems there. I would say they are very tolerant and chill with other birds in general and it would be great to give them companionship :) Every bird is different tho, so be careful since it really depends on the personality of the individual :)

    Doors are a real danger to birds too, many birds get killed by doors (plus they may get out too and be unable to get back in - which is a pretty certain death here in neighboring Norway)…

    Hi! I completely agree with you on the pellet thing, Top's/Birdtricks is the only pellet without filler. Any advice for converting your bird from Harrison's to Tops? I just started a few weeks ago with my 2 budgies but they're being very stubborn! It was way easier converting them from seeds to pellets oddly enough. How did it go with Charlie? I really enjoyed this video can't wait to see more, subscribed from a neighbour in Sweden :)

  • @stellaandcharlie

    @stellaandcharlie

    2 жыл бұрын

    Completely agree on the house danger thing! The conversion for Charlie was actually also quite difficult, since she in the beginning would wait for me to serve Harrisons, even though she was hungry... She just waited at the food bowl, and when I served TOPs I got the "what the f*** is this" look, but I think I made the mistake of then serving her Harrisons later, so she literally got what she wanted. When I then completely stopped with Harrisons, she would (after giving me the look and waiting for a couple if hours) eat the TOPs pellets, and I haven't given her Harrisons since. I also sometime like to put some of the pellet powder onto her veggies, since it doesn't hurt and she literally likes the TOPs better than veggies at this point. Try just serving it and wait for a couple of hours, I know it's hard cause they seem hungry and everything, but it worked for me. You can also try to serve some pellets with the chop or the Harrisons and see if she eats them. Then the powder is another option, try putting some over the veggies, the pellets brake very easily. Now normally we Danes do like to mess with Swedes, but I must admit I am kinda jealous, because no god dam shop in the entire country sells TOPs, so I actually am very thankful that I managed to find a swedish shop, that delivers to Denmark. And I am of course happy to help and so glad that you like the video - more coming this week :))

It seems that Denmark is just like here in Sweden, bird shops/stuff isn't very common (popular?) unfortunately. I look forward to it!

    As long as it stays somewhat the same temperature inside it shouldn't be a problem. Below 10 degrees (celcius) and over 28 degrees I would not take them outside. Pionus are quite hardy when it comes to temperatures, but with most birds, it's more a sudden change in temperature that's bad for them. So not the season changing, but more if you take them from a 11 degrees room to a 23 degrees room if that makes sense :)
