I have a 2021 Coachmen Sportscoach 339DS. The Gross combined vehicle weight is 30,000 pounds. The transmission may be the weak link. Unless you have no weight in the storage compartments and no water your heavy trailer will likely cause the maximum weight to be exceeded. I recomend weighing the fully loaded vehicle, with passengers, a full fuel and fresh water tamk (actually holds 50 gallons because the pickup and overflow tubes are not at the bottom and top of the tank. Also water will syphon out of a full tank while driving unless you elevate the overflow plumbing pipes up to the bottom of the floor. I noted that you don't have a rear ladder which the 2021 included. Our coach didn't have the black tank vented to the roof as the factory failed to extend the pipe from behind the spice cabinet to the roof. I recomend checking yours to make sure it has a vent pipe located a few inches forward of the shower skylight. Aluminum wheels are a nice upgrade!

Yea, awesome rig, but I just looked at the specs and it looks like towing capacity isn't what you think it is, and I would weigh that whole setup on a Cat Scale ASAP. Looks to me like a small flat towed car would be the limit with that 30K GCWR.

Congrats! We bought our first Class A gas last year around July and we like it, we are coming from a 5th wheel towing with my 2022 ram 3500 CCLB and I love that setup, so when we went with the Class A gas I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but with a little upgrade with the suspension, like safety-t-plus steering, a rear trac bar, koni's shock and soon will be installing Sumo Spring it make driving it a lot better. I wish we could afford a DP but we only go out about 4 to 5 times a year and we maybe make one long trip so getting into a DP might be an over kill for us but who knows maybe in the near future we might. Thank you for sharing.

It sounds like you’re putting together the perfect setup for what you’re doing. I know those suspension upgrades make a big difference. If you’re not towing anything that the RV can’t handle I don’t see why you’d upgrade at this time. Congratulations on the new setup too by the way!

@@TheOffRoadAdventureChannel Thank you sir, we have a tow dolly and tow on it a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer so it’s pretty light we just have to go and pick it up from the dealer because we had some warranty work done on it, you know when you get a new rv there are going to be some issues, well I hope that this will be it, hey man you guys be safe out there, it’s getting crazy out there.

You got yourself two good things: 1. Texas vodka 2. A new Sportscoach with the light interior. So long as you keep it stored INDOORS it'll last a LOT longer. Your next coach? Look at Foretravel. Also made in Texas. 🎉

Generally enjoy your videos. Really nice rig. You both should be proud to own something so nice. All that said, I think you need to take an introspective look at your water requirements. My wife and I have been rv’ing for over 30 years and our single shower draw is consistently in the 5-10 gallon range ( and no, we don’t stink nor do we sleep with left over soap in our hair). Talk to the RV designers, their requirements do not include continuous water flow when dry camping. Their assumption is you take a Navy shower. Wet down, turn the water off, soap up, then rinse. I think you will find that you can dry camp for several days on 70 gals.

If its your dream, You did good. Now I know you said you don't have enough water. That I agree with because I do dry camping for at least 5 to 6 days at a time. Now I don't know whats underneath but a 20 to 30 auxiliary gallon water tank seems like it would fit but you know better than me if it would work. Nice coach.

Nice setup dude. We bought an Entegra Accolade last year coming from a toyhauler. It was hard to fit the big sand car in the trailer. We miss having a 4x4 out in the desert but we love the motorhome and should have done it a long time ago. Like you were limited to 70 gallons of water and have to bring extra on long trips. What I’ve noticed on ours is the tank expands when I fill it and leaks water out the vent. I put a ball valve to shut off the vent lines while traveling to keep from losing the majority of our water. Just have to remember to open it once in camp. Also in the wet bay we have a setting on the valves to siphon liquid in for winterizing. It uses the onboard water pump. So when we run out of water I have a hose that goes from the barrel to the way bay and sucks it right in the fresh tank super easy. Anyways love your vids and maybe see you out in the dunes sometime

Awesome man! After having an RV it’s hard to think of going back to a toy hauler. I’d be curious on how to do that mod with the ball valve, where do I find information on how to do that? We lose a 1/4 of our tank driving. That’s a nice coach you have buy the way, congrats!

I bought it at DeMartini RV in Grass Valley CA. I meant to tell the story and it slipped my mind. They have better deals than any local dealer in SoCal. We drove 18 hours round trip on a Sunday to get it. Saved us a ton of money. This was one of the remaining 22’s that hadn’t been affected by one of the manufacturers latest price increases. We had a great experience with them. They don’t advertise the prices online but when you email which one you’re interested in the owner emails back a price promptly.

Very nice setup. I’ve always wanted a motor home but right now have the toy hauler which is definitely better than a tent. Have to talk the old lady into the Moho some more. Diesel the best way to go. I don’t get the ole water small tank thing is it due to room or what’s the problem with having a bigger tank? You go from 100 gallon to like 43 sometimes that would be a deal breaker for me need that water especially In Glamis.

  • @TheOffRoadAdventureChannel

Any smaller with the water tank and I would have had no choice but to pass. This is the minimum to get us through a 4 day weekend. I went from my truck, to a pop up tent camper, to a toy hauler, to the RV. All of them have their benefits and drawbacks. Just depends on what you want out of it and what you’re willing to deal with I suppose. I do really enjoy the RV mostly for not having to set up the house when you get to where you’re going.

I must have missed what trans was in this. Pulling 7,000 lbs I would think you would need an Allison 3,000. After having this for about a year now, do you still feel that 340HP is enough to pull this coach? I have not looked at Coachman much in the past and we have had 4 DP coaches. I love the layout and many other things. Horsepower and trans size are my concerns. Are you still happy now that you have had it a while?

It’s got an Allison 6 speed but I don’t know the model. I’ve been very happy with the coach overall. On long steep hills I do wish it was In the 400hp area. As long as semi trucks don’t get in front of us we still pull the trailer along just fine. I’d still buy this coach if I was starting over. Love the quality for the price.
