Btw Dave, I think it would also be interesting to get some similar models to compare with the real deal, like the Epiphone Emily Wolfe Sheraton or a Trini Lopez. If you’re able to scoop up a couple of models with Diamond holes, that info also might help people out if they can’t she’ll out enough coin for Dave’s model. Not to necessarily as a mod platform, but to use as-is. The problem with the Emily Wolfe is that it doesn’t have 4 knobs. I’ve heard it’s an incredible guitar that costs a decent price, but the question is whether that 4th knob is necessary to get the right FF sound. Even if you can’t buy another guitar or two, maybe you can hook up with a local music store. Sometimes they’re willing to loan guitars and gear out to KZreadrs that you can take home and bring back - or let you film at the store with the borrowed gear in a private area. I think you could convince a shop or two to loan you stuff, and it’s a good promo for them as well. 😉😊

Completely and utterly worth $300 bucks. As mentioned, get a better nut, swap the tuners/pickups and upgrade the pots. Awesome guitar for life 👌

I've found the guitars great for the money but the PUP's in my fusion 3 are weak maybe its just mine!

I still want a knockoff of a Theodore with Alvin on the headstock.

Where did you buy this from? And did it come with a sticker come over the top of the Gibson logo? I’m gonna buy one of these but I’m extremely worried about what the British customs will do. Regardless this is a great looking instrument, I’m probably gonna turn it into a full trini Lopez replica when I get one.

Any news on the epiphone greeny?

the only question I have is. Will CTS or Bourns pots fit through those diamond holes? that's all I care about.

Excellent guitar, straight string pull headstock,triny lopez style diamond f-holes,and phalum blue color, chibsons are getting outrageous,here in the states, I was able to get two chibsons a cherry burst standard LP and the Angus Young SG with lightning bolt inlays for $226 each delivered to my door, you may have to upgrade some of the hardware, but you won't find a better budget guitar for the money.

The pickups might be fakebuckers--single coil pickups mounted in a humbucker housing. The Scar My Guitar channel guy got a Grote guitar this week with fakebuckers in it. You should be able to upgrade that guitar and get it sorted out.

I dunno. The last few Epiphones I have played have been real crap. Best to save up for a properly-build guitar like and Ibanez or ESP.

This guitar has the "Fender" style tuner alignment where the strings travel straight to the tuners. That's the only special feature in my mind. This design usually stays in tune better. A real Dave Grohl Gibson costs around $20,000. That's nuts. For $300, how can anyone compare this Chibson to the real thing? That's nuts. If you want it, buy it and have some fun hot rodding it. None of us are playing in front of 18,000 fans any time soon. Life is short, have fun.

or you can just get a well built and aligned guitar, with reliable components; that won't warp and come unglued over time, for the same price.

I just had two more ideas, Dave. If you’re upgrading the guitar, is it worth refinishing it in the correct shade of Pelham Blue? Also, have you given thought of converting a regular 335 that’s already painted in Pelham Blue to a DG-335? Cut the f holes to Trini Diamonds, getting it as close to spec etc.? The headstock might be different, but it would still cost less. Moreover, you could also take a Trini Lopez Epiphone and convert it. Or even that Emily Wolfe Epiphone that I mentioned in another comment could be updated with new paint, electronics, etc. Perhaps you could collab with people who know how to do whatever you don’t as far as the mods go - like refinishing. I think that would be a major lot fun project, and it would get lots of views too! 😉🤘🏻🎸

don't waste your money on Chibon for a playing guitar......I bought a used Gibson TradPro V for 1000 US at guitar center.....point it, a "real" Gibson guitar is always worth a extra 700 bucks.............Chibon 200-300 than add pickups, nut and tuners it ain't no bargin.

There are three types of people buying Cheepson Guitars.

There are good electronics from China - I bought expensive Chinese ones and they are really good But I wouldn't buy Chibson Not worth the money

A 2022 StringsDirect (UK) article says this: “Joe Beebe, Grohl’s guitar tech says: ‘I use D’Addario EXL 115s, but I throw the bottom two strings away and I replace them with a .42 for the A-string and a .60 for the E-string… [Dave] is such a hard player; he’s a chainsaw live! He was breaking strings a lot, so I had to beef up the gauges a bunch and I also have to raise the action on him, otherwise he’s hitting the strings so hard all it would do is buzz all day long!’ What Dave’s tech has put across here makes perfect sense and the fact he’s hitting the strings like a drum set is a clear indication that custom adjustments would need to be made to both guitar and strings choice.” Hope this tidbit helps! Now honestly, I think you can still get the same tone out of a standard pack of D’addario XS 10’s. Dave hits it much harder than the average person would. He’s also been playing his strings for many years. The new XS (coated version of NYXL) are super strong. I dig in a ton and have yet to break a string in the last 3.5 years. I prefer XS on electric (coated with slightly slick feel - just enough without being a skating rink like other brands 😂) and XT on acoustic (which use the same coating applied differently to get the naked strings feel). With a set of Gibson pickups, you can get extremely close to Dave’s tone if not spot on with my suggested strings without ripping your fingers to shreds, literally. Thinner gauges being a better choice have been proven in the studio by several KZreadrs like Rick Beato. He found that lighter gauge strings still produce the same heavy tone, but adds the benefit thay the tone is more articulate. The higher the gauge, the muddier the strings sound. Go check that video out - there were two videos made on this subject by Rick. When D’addario eventually stops making Dave’s preferred strings, he will be forced to try something new. Maybe that’ll be the point when he sees how much D’addario science has progressed with NYXL, XS, and XT strings. He may still opt to swap for much heavier bass strings because he’s used to the feel of it, but he won’t HAVE to. 😊
