I was hoping i wasn't the only one who picked up on that haha Maybe the video was flipped?! :D
That's really excellent news - I have a 2021 Stance with only a 500Wh battery - I'm quite a heavy 70-year old doing lots of riding and my almost 2-year old battery is down to 90%-93% battery health, so my range is seriously diminished. Just hope this battery is going to be available in South Africa. Great review - thanks.🙏
Thank you for doing this. It took a lot of effort !
Very interesting video, also loved the retro background music. Very Austin Powers 😊
Great video thanks Sam 👍🏻
Nice work Sam, shame Bosch didn’t turn there 625wh battery into a 750wh battery 🔋 and backwards compatible.
Thanks Sam , great content as always .

Having just bought the battery and run a Giant. This data was invaluable to me. Thanks for the test. GDay Cobba,

Such a good review, certainly will stick with the standard battery on the e-trance I am looking to purchase, push to the limit and then look to upgrade later…
Hi Sam, thank you for another great review.

My 22 reign has 625w battery and I've had 40km+ 1800m elevation & 75-85% battery used riding mostly tour/trail. I've been blown away by the range and I weigh 95kg, everybody is different but for me after 35kms I'm pretty much over it energy wise so the 625w is the sweet spot, but if I had to buy a new battery I'd go for the 800w seems a no brainer.

on mine, 85 kgs and on second assistance (tour) I make 32kms and 1280 d+. I'm a little bit disappointed because reading around, peoples make more than me. I'm not a beginner and I push on the bike a little bit. Maybe some battery problem?
Nice video. Interesting numbers mate. I get 30km and 1000m of elevation on my exe. Mostly trail mode. I'm 100kg. Super lights and tech moving on. Seems to be down to what sort of power the rider wants from the motor
Interesting vid sam !

I will probably buy the 800wh upgrade since I feel it needs a slightly longer range, this would easily put me at the 30 mile range with 4000 feet of climbing
How's that specialized build coming along. Really excited to see it come along.
Just pulled the trigger and put one of these big boys into my 2019 e+0 Trance which came with a 500w/h battery. To make the 800w/h fit there was a bit of shaving of plastic for the 2019 battery cover to clip in. But after that its a plug and play affair. I cant feel the weight difference riding the bike so no problems there. Yes its a bit of an outlay, but really beats buying a new bike for 8-9 times the price.
Very nice video! Wich cover for 800 i need for Giant Stance E+ 1 - 2023 ? Thank you!
Ps loving the camera shots
great vid, just in case favourite bike is giant reign e+2
Climbing is the way to go with a emtb!
Just ordered the 23 with the 800!
great job thx
I have a giant trance 2021, upgraded to 625 battery. I weigh just over 100 kg and not particularly fit . Battery just lasted; thank God for a ten mile flat ride , then about another 9 up the Col de Tourmalet in the Pyrenees to a height of just over 5000 feet . Near the top, down to last bar of power, was a very worried man. Fortunately just made it , rolled down the other side and recharged in a cafe at the bottom
I have this bike and the battery range is impressive for its size
raw data makes comparisons realistic and relevent. cheers Sam
maybe do one with the range extender on the 625! see of the price tag difference is worth it
Would it be a better option to use the Giant water bottle range extender at 200w?
What is the price of the 800 W to buy in Miami or in the US?
Atm I have 625Wh battery - its suffitient. But m8 after several years it will have lower capacity, so than I will buy bigger.
Curious if auto-assist mode has had any advantage with battery consumption? Wife’s LIV Tempt E+3 seems to be more efficient in auto than manually adjusting assist.

To be honest mate I haven’t tried so I can’t tell you!
also good video. thanks !
I have a reign E+ 1 Pro 2020 and I don't see a 800wh battery on sale for this year and model? anyone know where they sell this 800 battery? I would love to increase from 500wh to 800wh !
I think 700-800 is the sweet spot for average rider weight. I can run out my yt 540 easy
I would love the 800W on my 2022 Reign E+3 yours was one of the reviews that convinced my to buy this bike :) (I have put 150mm cranks on which sorted the clearance issues) On a good day I have done 6000feet of climb while at Bike Park Wales with a 30 minute charge at lunchtime on my 625 I love epic rides and having the 800 would give me just that little more. Does anyone else find that when the bike hits 10% charge (Garmin used as display) the power dropped more quickly I find that from 10 to 5% comes real quick and that from 5 you are basically in limp home. Not sure if it's me as i have a=only done it twice ridden to flat but both times did not seen right.
@BeniKenesei

Yeah, the last 10% goes quicker, at 3% it switches to eco to limp home.

I just ordered my 22 e+3
merci..! 🤟👍
Just had the 800 battery installed on my wife’s trance x e+1. Replaces a faulty 750 battery under warranty, so good score on that one. But I don’t think the difference between the 750 and 800 will be at all noticeable except maybe removing a wee bit of range anxiety. 750 is easily big enough I reckon.

I think it is a good strategy to produce and to buy average batteries, say 400-600 Wh. In 90% one will be happy with an average battery. But it is a good idea to have 2 batteries and from time to time to take the second one with you.
Hopefully Shimano will also release a backwards compatible upgrade to the 625Wh battery. That would future proof my current bike.

I bought a second 625Wh battery and I think it is a very good solution. Twice the distance, twice the battery life! :D
what about the ENERGYPAK PLUS extender
Well done Giant for making bigger battery compatible with older bikes but why no one mention £1000 price tag on it !! 8D

I just bought mine in Germany for 700 euro + vat.
so the difference between smaller and bigger batteries is about 900g. Can you feel that difference? I bet you can, especially that all that extra weight is close to your head tube ? any thoughts ? :)
What level was u in when doing this test
Hi Sam, when you put the 800wh in, did the original cover fit?

New battery is less efficient or you were tired from the day of riding before testing it
I'm trying to get 800wh here the US
i have a bosch cx on a cube with a 500 watt battery and a BMZ battery of 650 watts on another bike . i can go further on my 500 watt battery than the 650 . the cube is lighter but not that much lighter .

Sam , in my case i think the range issue between my two bikes has more to do with the amount of current being drawn by the sachs motor ? also the battery is 48 volt and has an all aluminum case that really adds a lot weight. but i dont understand anything about electricity , amps/volts / watts etc so ?
Which way do clocks turn in Spain?

Hahaha 😝 yes I did get that wrong 😑
how mouch is your weight becouse my weight is 60 kg and I'm thinking how mouch More can I go with the same battery size
@SamsBikes
Жыл бұрын
I’m around 85kg on a good day!
Yeah then obviously it only makes sense to get the 800wh. The weight is so close as well. The problem with smaller batteries is you can't have more when you need it. And the weight difference doesn't matter it's still going to be a heavy ass e-bike that doesn't handle well. Wouldn't consider less than 750Wh battery.
I swear you got counter clock wise and clock wise confused. Or maybe I’m confused?
@SamsBikes
Жыл бұрын
Haha yes I think I got that wrong
I bigger battery will give you more range at the expense of increased weight.

Yeah but the weight difference between two batteries is negligible. Are you going to notice 1kg difference on a 25kg ebike?

comon sense.. 800wh last bit longer than 623wh, ,no brainer here!! 1200wh would be best option in the future!!!
