    I hope you check the roof. They have no roof support in them. Only Styrofoam insulation for support only.

    Why the 158 inch wheelbase specifically? Thanks!

  • @rvnaut

    @rvnaut

    There were two reasons... one is a tighter turning radius, and the second was a shorter wheelbase = a shorter unit, and old state and federal parks were built for tenting or pop-up trailers, not Class A RVs... the org idea was to keep the length to less than 28' to be able to fit in these places. ..or course it then came down to.. what did I end up buying?? ;)

    Older RV can be so damn dark inside... and since you posted... you get to know I just signed a deal on a 2004 Safari Trek 31SBD....

    @@rvnaut Yes, I read on Trek Tracks that you had purchased a 2004. It sounds like it’s in pretty good shape. I hope you’ll be very happy with it. I’m a former owner of a ‘97 2830. It was perfect for the two of use, but then things changed and it became too small for the three of us (adults) so we had to part with it.

    @@zinplease1595 The folks I am buying it from are Mom & Dad and two girls.. and as "big" as a 31SBD is, that could be tight. They did live in it for 8 months in 2020 before buying their home. I originally wanted a 24' Trek, mostly because of the shorter wheelbase, but in order to gain a more livable space as well as storage for going full time, I am now in a 31' with a 178" wb and a long overhang.. but that is the RV llife..making a compromise.. thanks for tagging along... I will try to get a video out in the next week.. but.. wow.. so much to do.. dragged the old '74 Saab up to the main yard, to clean it up for sale... Talk to you soon... Now then, where is my Banjo. :D

    PATCHES ?

  • @rvnaut

    @rvnaut

    One of the initial attractions to this potential choice was indeed Patches, as there was so much footage of how to fix nearly anything on the rig.... but it was a big basket case of issues.

    @@rvnaut yes. nate whom owns patches really did a great deal of alterations to his rv, and thats putting it lightly. but it was just to old and these rvs are really not meant to last forever. if you were to have any questions about that particular year and model of rv, nate would be the person to speak with. take care,
