I think people don’t realize how much time drivers spend in the truck. You have a 70 hr clock. My husband spends 3 1/2 weeks a month gone. That’s 24 hours a day in a truck. Away from family. I feel like that should be factored in cents per mile. He makes more than he ever did at a factory but he doesn’t come home at the end of the day. There’s no sick days. He is tethered to that truck all day and night. We also have two places to stock with groceries as he lives in that truck. 2,000 is a lot for a company driver. Very few places pay that and if you don’t have a minimum weekly pay at that company, you only make money if the wheels are turning and being broke down, waiting on loads, waiting days to get unloaded it cuts that pay check real quick.

The state of california is huge. There are definitely areas where making two thousand dollars a week would be enough to live comfortably. Move about 60 miles away from the major cities like LA and San Diego or live deeper east in the state away from the coast. Some people don't want acknowledge that they increase their spending habits when they make more money, making things worse for themselves

Young man. A piece of advice, check your social security statement. What i mean is that I am 54 years of age. I've been truck driving since 1995. I've looked at my statement with my gross earnings per year. I also crossed references my statement with the companies I've worked for. I'm reevaluated what companies I work for, & what type of driving I do and I'm also adding to my resume with heavy equipment certifications.

Because I live in a no tax state. . The best part for me is that I don't pay rent. So almost all my money goes straight into the stock market. So after three years i'm gonna be buying me a house

I said pretty much 80% of the rest of my money goes into the stock market. The way I see it in 3 years. We'll have a different housing market anyway. Interest rates will definitely be lower and at that point I'll have enough to have a very substantial down payment if not outright Purchase something

My advice is try to get in an outfit like that and you’ll really enjoy your job. Even if you only do Otr for 2 years go all out with it and you’ll walk away with good money saved up and the experience will help get you any local gig you want. If you’re new to investing, I would suggest taking a more conservative approach and doing your research on investing in solid ETF’s like VOO (Vanguard S&P 500 ETF) for example. I’m going to list a few of my favorite channels to watch regarding investing. I guarantee you will get value from these channels.
