Makes sense. In English the word pub comes from "Public House" and essentially came to be as medieval housewives sold their excess homebrewed ale. Make it a proper business and add wine and cider and such to the menu, and you met what was the definition of a tavern back then. (Add places to sleep and a bigger emphasis on food and you got an Inn)

@@WalesTheTrueBritons so I should be saying I don’t like it instead of that I do like it? FYI I get the same vibe when listening to Norwegian or Danish since the Swedish language is fairly similar to theirs and vice versa. The only reason I find Welsh to be notable enough to mention is because I in fact can not understand what it says. Their pronunciations are similar enough to make me believe I’m listening to Swedish or otherwise which I find to be kinda neat but it does throw my head for a loop the moment I try to understand what’s being said because although it sounds so similar it’s not a language I understand. My comment was not designed to shame children into not speaking it, it was designed to highlight the fact that it throws my head in a loop, quite extremely so while also keeping a mild humorous tone with rather clear exaggerations though I suppose everyone has different type of humour and tone is quite hard to transfer over text but I shall not apologize because as far as I’m concerned I did nothing wrong. Additionally I truly don’t care what an author has to say about a language. Far as I’m concerned it adds nothing to your argument outside of being a cool little fact on the side which I admittedly enjoy. If you have any more Tolkien facts then please, indulge me. Let me make it clear, I am not being sarcastic, I just happen to love random pieces of information

Probably because “Old English” was created by the Druids of Wales for the incoming Saxons which was loosely based on the Latin, Brythonic (Welsh) etc. of the period.

Well the British did with Welsh what they did with any other language that sounded 'pretty' or different: "Yeah that's enough of that then. Speak English you knobheads." And so Welsh, Irish, Scottish Gaelic and so many other languages and cultures were just smashed into the dirt to the point of irrelevance.
