Some really nice shots in there! The color grading and composition is spot on! The pacing could have been done a little bit faster sometimes. But other than that really amazing work.

Fantastic film, congrats man! I've got the same camera as you, but I don't get nearly as beautiful images out of it haha. If you don't mind me asking, did you use the Pavo tube lights to light the stationary bike sequence?
@BenjaminFarris
6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Keep practicing with the camera and you’ll only get better. Yeah, I had two Pavo tubes rigged on the ceiling and then there was some natural light from a window
worth it!

How are your cuts so smooth and seamless? Is there a trick for it? I'm trying to implement that in my videos
@BenjaminFarris

I try to have it make sense with the sequence of movement that is happening in the frame. I’ll go over this in my next video 👊🏼
WHAT AMAZING WORK MY BRO! Very inspiring idea, one question: WICH FORMAT DID YOU USE TO FILM THAT? I MEAN 4K HS... ? WHERE DID YOU BACK UP YOUAR MATERIAL? Few days ago, I filmed a short, backup my material and then I notice that the clips did not play anymore... like "conflict with codec"

Appreciate it brotha! I shot in 4K XAVC S-I and S-LOG3 S-Gamut3.Cine. My go-to external hard drive has been amzn.to/3QGlWiZ It's definitely a bit pricey, but it's worked great for me. Hope that helps!

Inspiring video! Wish you all the best for the train and the Ironman! Quick question, which bike do you use?
@BenjaminFarris

Thanks Nico! I actually filmed it, so I’m not the one training. Not sure the exact bike that he uses, but I know it’s a Trek bike that’s specifically for Ironmans

@@BenjaminFarris cool, thanks. is there a bts video of this? i'd love to see how you shot all 3 disciplines.
This is so solid. Could I ask - as I know there’s a few tutorials out there - but can you talk about your decisions on exposure for a look like this plus color grading? Specifically choosing to not blow out highlights, choosing to shoot native iso (640/12800). Were a lot of these shot at native? We’re a lot shot overexposure 1-2 stops and brought down? And what was done to achieve the look / LUT (bringing up/down shadows, etc)
@BenjaminFarris
Жыл бұрын
I appreciate it! I can definitely put together a video to cover those topics. I'm obviously by no means an expert, but I'll do my best to break down my process.

@@BenjaminFarris do you have general advice on the exposure. I have a shoot this weekend and I'm super nervous haha
@BenjaminFarris
Жыл бұрын
@@lilsouschefI always shoot at the native ISO’s and I overexpose by 1-2 stops for Slog3. I’d recommend using the zebras on your monitor or LCD screen. I set them to 75 which typically will be a proper exposure for skin. Hopefully that helps! Good luck at your shoot 👊🏼

@@BenjaminFarris thank you so much. THSNK YOU. Looking forward to the video. Keep crushing it!!!
@lilsouschef

@@BenjaminFarris I guess one logistical question. In some situations, you just can't get the 1-2 stops over (ie lens aperture doesn't go low enough or setting for example), do you go straight to a few ISO bumps ornjump to 2nd native? Let's say you don't want that moodier look too. Do you lean into the need to bump ISO (if other options aren't available) or backlighy the talent and lean into the native ISO principle and moodiness
How did you record the sound of his footsteps and wheels passing by?

I had a shotgun mic on my camera and it luckily was able to pick up all of the sounds fairly well.
