Luke Piper - Maybe, to keep it canon - we can say that Jarvis (having been created by Tony) types out what is being said, but keeps a few lines ahead via a suggestive text feature. He knows how Tony thinks, and writes the most likely responses ahead of time. If Tony(RDJ) goes off script, Jarvis updates it and adapts his predictive texts for future use. It might explain why his sense of humor is so developed, since he is constantly learning from Tony.

Jarvis' sarcastic remark at 2:10 "you're usually so discrete" is just like Afred's line from the Dark Knight, which also came out in 2008. "The Lamborghini then Master Wayne? Much more subtle." Funny how both movies came out in 2008 and had similar moments throughout. They were the beginning of the modern comic movie era, when studios really began nailing down the Superhero genre.

That line at 1:18 about visiting other planets is pretty cool in retrospect. Tony's never actually been to another planet, but considering his adventures did eventually lead him through a wormhole in The Avengers (2012) it's kind of neat to think that the folks at Marvel were imagining things like that all the way back in 2008. Although then again, I suppose any multi-million dollar movie ought to have long-term franchise maintenance going on.

I love these Stark's working moments, I wonder why they don't include this content in the actual movies. Although it's not perfect, it's really well done unlike other movies where the hackerman uses magic. I appreciate for example, that Jarvis and Stark dialog is shown in the display (in order to monitor Jarvis' work in case of bugs), the way the suit calibrates, big dual-monitors, a lot of displays, etc. And almost everything is possible, excepting the hologram of course, and the suit's ability to fly. Anyway, considering the velocity in which the computer hears what Tony says, it must have a hell of processor.

That's the AI's command log - so that Stark can always go back and look up exactly what he told the AI to do, if he ever needs to. Jarvis has his own internal systems checks, of course... but if he were ever compromised or anything, Stark could figure out when and where it happened by examining the command logs. You want redundancies for these kinds of things, because at those levels of computer technologies, the best bet is to always assume something's going to go wrong - and build in internal processes to help you fix whatever the problem is. That's one reason why network engineers and network administrators keep logs of everything (at least, the best ones do); and Tony Stark is an engineer at heart.
