Gdynia Ironman 70.3 and another yet small race report
It was beautiful sunny day, and this race followed Sprint distance where our great athlete Fiona gave it socks the previous day. Always great to have company supporting each other. So Fiona and Noeleen were cheering and all the family spending hours and hundreds of kilometres in the car with no sleep just to come and support. When you ask what drives me? Its my beautiful supporters, Alicja and all the family, and the girls - thank you!
Let’s get to the race…so again it was sunny and beautiful day, body was well rested and ready. On the SWIM I felt little dizzy on the beginning probably already little overheated but once I got into the rhythm the body was doing what it needs like machine. And I love that feel when you train and have your ups and downs, questions and worries but on race day once you let the stress go the body just goes does what it needs to be done like someone just turned the switch on and let you off to fly.
T1 went smooth enough and into the BIKE. No screws loose thank god, no issues and again just executing what was trained. Little breathing difficulties due to allergens and not being able to use the medication kept my pace and effort under constant control, and its worked well. Felt really good. T2 smooth enough again. Then into the RUN - oh definitely living so many years in Ireland turned me into “I like little breeze more than heat person” so I helped myself with ice in my hat, sponges of cold water and regular hydration constantly…oh boy I need to spend more hours in the warm weather again to get comfortable in hot conditions 😜 But run went well I felt strong, no problems and no pains. Crossed finish line happy looking around for my loved ones, 4th place AG with having asthma but being able to control it well even without medication and still feeling strong is making me super happy. Oh…is it downhill to main race of the season now? Yes, and I can’t wait for it. Let’s do this!
