All of this was around 1000 years or so before the Heresy. And when it came time for the selection of the War Master mantel to be selected, Perturabo thought he was the perfect fit. And during a conviening of all the Primarchs. It was interesting, half of them refusing the title. But the other half argued visiciously, pointing out flaws of their strategms, you name it. But was fierce between Perturabo and Rogal Dorn. Both such stoic personalities for different reasons, yet the same. And would argue over every little thing. With all the other primarchs basically sighing and saying neither Dorn or Pert could be War Master, and that made Perturabo prettyy angry. Then when the Heresy came. During it. The Iron Warriors were the best organized, lead, equipped and largest legion. And basically single handedly nearly won it with Horus's legion. Single handedly fighting 3 legions and tons of Imperial Guards and even Custodes on Terra, nearly taking the Imperial Palace. All by himself, whilst having to wrangle three of his brothers. Having to fight a vicious duel with Angron to control him, and his legion. And at the end of the fighting, before it happened. All command was stripped from Perturabo, at his moment of glory.. Given to Horus's second in command. A regular space marine who was basically a glorified secretary. Perturabo was betrayed again. Before/During the siege of Terra. Fulgrim had called Perturabo to retrieve an artifact to help them. And they were the only brothers to get along, betrayed Pert and nearly killed him. Siphioning off parts of his soul, the ritual getting interupted. And Pert smashing Fulgrim to a red mist.. Only to form into his daemonic form as a rebirth ritual. All of this betrayal and mortal wounding, the Iron Warriors and Perturabo knew they were just being used again. And they swore they'd never serve anyone again. And broke away from the Siege. Letting it crumble and collapse, and the traitor legions being decimated. In the good lore before the numerous retcons. Pert and the Iron Warriors shacked up in the warp and was using the Warp to fuel genetic experimentation and found ways to infuse chaos power with their gene seed to make something way better. And other cool technology and mixtures. And was fighting a two front war against both the Imperium and Chaos. With Pert developing basically a gun that could and would have killed the chaos gods. And a machine that could harvest their powers. But nooooo now hes chaos undivided and works with Chaos, and is now daemon prince. Previously used the warp to stay alive and fix his badly wounded body and soul.

My lifes been a lifetime of stolen achievements from me. Overlooked and overshadowed, no matter what I did no one gave me any recognition or anything. And have had the deck stacked against me most of my life. Out of all the legions. I feel my lifes story is relatable to them. But I still find myself finding close ties to Angron and other Primarchs.

As cheesy and cliche as this'll sound. But I heavily relate to the Iron Warriors and their plight, and why they and Perturabo turnt traitor against both sides. The poor Iron Warriors at their earliest inceptions, had one of three of the most stable and reliable gene seeds, aside from the Ultramarines and the Imperial Fists. (Ironic) And because of this. The Iron Warriors had a huge number of their legion, and allowed for them to replenish and be classified as more disposable. So they'd be chosen by all legions, because at the beginning of the Great Crusade, if a legion didn't have a primarch to speak on their behalf, they could be cherry picked and basically forced to work under another legion and Primarch. And used to take the most casualities and losses in part of the legion they were serving under. The Iron Warriors didn't complain, they like the Fists, were resiliant and didn't mumble and groan at this treatment and they rolled with the punches. And their numerous early achievements had The Emperor even take control of the whole legion, and would use them as hia personal escort to planets to retrieve a Primarch. Nearly all of them. And was rewarded by being given the rare privaledge to manufacture and make their own war gears, outside of the Mechanicus, along with rarer techs. As a sign of favour from The Emperor. But as the Emperor was away and not using them directly, they were constantely being plucked away by the other Legions to fill in meat waves and other roles of high mortality, alongside the Imperial Guard. And many Legions looked down upon the Iron Warriors as this fodder legion, and would often get mocked by their statistics and lack of a father amongst other things. And often after a planet was secured by another legion, Iron Warriors were sent to hold the planet until X legion could reinforce it themselves, and were left to the fortification of the planet, and in charge to set up manufactories and landing for ships, having to fulfill roles outside of combat. Which they detested. And often when their Legion was able to capture a planet or solar system, due to proximity of being in closer range to another legions planets, it was often given away to another. Which would mean the Iron Warriors had to garrison the planet they fought and killed and died for, they conquered, only to now be told its being given away to their cousins in the Ultramarines or Fists or X legion. And would often argue with Fists over how to design fortifications and other logistics. Surprisingly. The Iron Warriors were seen very favourably by the Imperial Guard, because the Iron Warriors had enough wisdom and retrospection that if they had good quality war material, food rations, sleeping quarters and medical treatments with the fairest approaches to military service under their command. The Guard gladfully would follow suicidal attacks or feints, or hold the line because they knew their commanders, had a plan and weren't just sacrificing them for bad intel, or vainglorious charges by idiotic Commisars or generals. The Iron Warriors knew if they kept their human soldiers well kept, they would be eternally loyal and go to great lengths to achieve their objections, and often surpass in impressive features. And would often be allowed to return to their homes and would start families that would give sons that'd make it into the Iron Warriors astartes. The Iron Warriors had a few problems. Because of their high casualitie rates, they'd have to take large sums of the human populace on their few planets to replenish their numbers. Which in the story of Perturabo's story of him turning traitor, his own planet of Olympia, the male populace was declined so heavily. And sighted by his sister, the leader of the rebellion, sighting that the boys and men of Olympia were nearly all gone. And this wasnt an isolated case, but all planets under the Iron Warriors. Another problem was.. They were suffering from success. They had a perfect 100% success ratio for conquering any planet proven too difficult by other legions, and would overcome it. And so they always had the toughest and worst missions. And the crummy thing is, this only made them more bitter. Being crudely called the Walking Carrion legion, or similiar names. And upon finally being reunited with their Primarch.. They could only get half of their legion back to Terra, the other half was away under other campaigns and garrison duties. And their record losses being the highest amongst everyone. Made Perturabo very angry, he was already the butt end of the joke, being one of the last primarch's to be found, and having to compete with his established and well respected brother Rogal Dorn. No one thought highly of him at the beginning, atleast a majority. And constantly had to in his eyes, prove himself to his brothers and his father. But no one gave him achievements or gratitude, they had their own missions or were already being lauded and taking the spotlight. And since they were a very serious legion that never complained. Were simply handed other missions. And this stung their pride. Can you imagine your entire life. Being a career soldier and not once getting a medal or even a "Good job son" by a superior outside of your military command. I'd be resentful too! I'd be so mad. All my achievements and accomplishments, no one cared to even congratulate or thank me. Just seen as a tool for war and a disposable one at that.
