I prefer the Iron Ranger with the Vibram 100 outsole, to the original. This is a magnificent improvement.

Nothing low key about it, my guy. He crushed it. Making me want another pair of iron rangers just to upgrade the soles to a logger

I like the end result, really a big improvement over the original look of the boots. I also like that you don't play any music over the video when you are doing the resoling, it give the video a more natural feel, as if the viewer is in the same room.

@Brandon Lee Barrow Interesting. Could just be a personal thing with the cork. I have a pair of 875 I've been wear for almost 2 years, 3-5 days a week, and they have become almost an extension of my foot. So comfortable! I'm figuring it's got to be the cork, or a combination of the cork and leather molding to the shape of my foot. But at the end of the day, it's whatever works for you (Dr. Scholl's!).

@Brandon Lee Barrow it depends, don’t forget the Red Wings have very sturdy leather insoles to begin with. If you put a heavy leather midsole and a Vibram lug sole on top of it, your Rangers can hardly bend and your RW will walk less comfortable.

Personally, I can't see sending in a new boot to be resoled, I would have wore it for at least a year before sending them in for a resole. But your resole is beautiful, you actually improved on the original boot construction and made a better boot.

Did almost same thing to my copper rough and toughs except I have honey vibram with the double midsole and dyed black , instantly 2 times as comfy . Will do same thing to any future iron rangers as well

You do excellent work. One day I’ll have commando soles put on my IRs too. But, IMHO what a waste of a brand new sole. I would’ve worn it down a little at least before changing it. And yes, I know…customer is always right and it’s his money and his shoes. I just think it’s a waste.

That is a great looking job!! But the 1705 Vibram job looks like something I would like to consider. What does a resole job like that cost? Just a ballpark price would be helpful to understand. I’m in Michigan, it. I don’t expect shipping my boots to you would be a problem, right? Thanks!!

I have similar timberland mudlark. I guarantee you, you couldn't run down the sole, I have been using it close to 15 years. It only slips on oil.

Great job! What dye and coating did you apply to the welt?

Great work, you do what the customer wants, but… some customers underestimate how good the original soles are. They last forever and they can bend so you can walk in comfort. I bet this new soles, especially the one for the black IR can’t hardly bend, so you heel is slipping. Maybe someone needs a heavy duty sole , but keep in mind that in combination with a thick leather mid sole your Rangers will be less flexible (at least) for the first few months.

Does the cork sheet hold up better than the cork putty that is already in them? What advantage does the cork sheet offer over a piece of vegtan?

What is that liquid that went in the leather mid sole? It gave it a “stain” look?

I have a pair of 8084’s and really like this upgrade. My boots are nearly new but I’d like the better grip of the Vibram 100 sole. What is a ballpark price for this upgrade?

No i didn’t, I use cork sheet. I rarely use leather!!🖐🏻

I disagree, I am better off with what feels better on my feet… I had Aaron (Revive Shoe Repair) re-craft 7 pairs of boots to my specifications and all are perfect for me…. I already have a few pairs of Nicks, Whites, Wesco, and Frank’s. These feel way better on my feet… It’s not always the big brand name that gets the job done…. If that were the case I would of have had Vibram 100’s put on my Kreosote’s…
