Estuve en esa fecha, fue mi primer recital de Maiden, tenía 12 años y ese mismo día volví del viaje de egresados de septimo grado, me baje del micro, me paso a buscar mi viejo y nos fuimos a velez. Como el micro del orto se atrasó solo llegamos a ver a Slayer y Maiden. Fue algo impresionante y con 12 años fue de mis primeros recitales grandes, ya había visto a Megadeth en el 97 y a Almafuerte en Cemento, pero la brutalidad de Slayer y el show de Maiden me marcaron para siempre. Hoy en día 22 años despues seguimos disfrutando con mi viejo de ir juntos a recitales. Gracias viejo.

mi viejo también me llevó esa fecha, también tenia 12 años, y tambien fue mi primer recital de maiden, lamento no haber conocido a slayer, angra y helloween que se me volvieron bandas preferidas despues de ese recital (sin contar a O connor y max cavalera, por dios, el último recital de esas magnitudes en Argentina) Ese fue mi ultimo gran recuero con mi viejo, murió casi 1 mes despues el 9 de enero del 99. Toda la Razón, un estilo de cantar muy diferente a la de Bruce, pero saco unos buenos temas, lástima que la mochila de Bruce es demasiado grande para cualquiera vocalista en Maiden.

I saw Maiden on this tour in England and it still goes down as one of the best gigs I've seen. And every Blaze Bayley solo show I see is an awesome live experience too. For all the endless comparisons to his predecessor, he did and still continues to do an awesome job, in my opinion.

Maiden is a whole different thing with Blaze. If you understand that, you appreciate it. That´s why Blaze has a very good solo career and great live performances. I´ve seen him live two times in Brazil and they were both great!

I´m lost for words....I simply LOVE the Blaze era, the brilliant music, mindblowing lyrics and their punchy, wild and raw performances. Even if this era is VASTLY underrated, and certainly the singer, was there a load of Golden Gems, or even masterpieces written and performed during this era....we still hear echoes of this time in their later music, both musically and lyrically.....to me the dark, intense and powerful voice of Blaze fits the songs on his albums in Maiden perfectly, I promise you, even if he couldn´t handle the classics very well considering his vocal range, if the guys just tuned down a bit to meet his incredible voice you would have heard an entirely different voice, this guy´s worthy of massive respect and credit for even trying.......if you don´t believe me, check out his solo career or just Maidens official videos of Futureal, Man on the Edge, Virus, Lord of the Flies or Afraid to shoot Strangers......I love his voice and to me he´s an ACE singer, the talent, spirit and power of metal music to reign.......

I think he done his best. It was such a hard act to follow. Moreover, at this time, Iron Maiden, one could argue, struggled to regain the glory of the 80-88 era even before Bruce left, even though I felt "Fear Of The Dark was a return to top form. Having said that, I liked No Prayer For The Dying; and even more so now. In life, we all go through ups and downs, and make wrong decisions in life, whether: individuals, football teams, and even groups and artists - Maiden are no exception to the rule. The mistake, I believe was picking Blaze in the first place, where as myself and my maiden Fan Friends reckon they should have picked Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. The best choice in my opinion regardless of him not being British - that should not have been a concern due to Maidenism being Worldwide. Listen to him sing Children of the Damned. He can hit all the high notes: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJuWvNSqp6jAqto.html. Nevertheless, they did what they did and now we have Bruce back, along with Mr Smith. I love maiden through thick and thin, and I always will love this band. UP THE IRONS!!!

But as you pointed out to fill the shoes of Bruce was a huge challenge....all I really believe is that so many fans never even gave him a chance, so many refused to listen to them just because he was not Bruce, to be honest why should they blame either Maiden or Blaze? You know there is a significent difference between a tenor and baryton, the vocal ranges are completely different, Blaze never could sing their classics such as Trooper or Hallowed, but his voice was perfect for Fortunes of War and Edge of Darkness, I really love and admire both of them, but I really do believe that the albums with Blaze belongs to him, just as the albums with Bruce belongs to him. Furthermore I wish that Bruce would embrace his older voice, it is more emotional, powerful and so much more easy to hear, because sometimes his effort to reach theese higher notes sounds to anyone that is not a native english speaking one, mostly like just screams..... Many of their fans from other countries have to read their lyrics before understanding them, and that seems like a mistake.... I am grateful to you for replying and giving me your opinion....

Wow, what a performance by Blaze. He sounded fantastic on Number Of The Beast. This tour was my first Maiden gig, and it is still one of my favourite gigs of all-time. Absolutely zero point in comparing him to Bruce, their voices are completely different. Blaze gives it his all, and with a lower range than Bruce, does a fucking good job given the circumstances.

Podrán decir lo que quieran de Blaze, pero le metía pasión, le metía corazón y se nota que daba su máximo esfuerzo. Sí, los clásicos le costaban mucho trabajo, me duele la garganta de sólo escucharlo, es una lástima que no le quisieran bajar la tonalidad de la música, incluso no sé por qué intenta llegar a la exacta nota alta, pudiendo cantar un equivalente más abajo, las canciones de sus dos álbumes las interpreta muy bien, en fin, creo esa "época oscura" de Maiden, fue más bien por cosas ajenas a Blaze, mis respetos a este tipo que hizo lo mejor que pudo, y se notaba. Pd. Me encantan X Factor y Virtual XI, incluso más que los álbumes post 2000 de Maiden.

Así es. Se ve que no la pasa bien en The Number Of The Beast, y en la parte final de "Hallowed Be Thy Name". Se le ve muy estático y concentradísimo en no fallar, y eso debe ser muy estresante.

​@@juanvega6571 X factor es top 3 de Maiden y mejor que casi todo lo post 2000 pero es para escucharlo tranquilo y acostumbrar el oído. Virtual XI es mas discutible pero es buen disco. De ambos siguen haciendo temas en vivo (Sign of The cross, The Clansman) y eso ya dice bastante.

Estuve en ese show... hasta que terminó Slayer y me fuí. No me arrepiento de mi decisión en ese momento. Eso no quita que reconozca que "The X Factor" es uno de los mejores álbumes de Maiden. Luego, por una cuestión de fanatismo me compré también "Virtual XI". A lo que voy, en ese momento no me bancaba escuchar a Blaze (ya lo había visto en Obras en 1996) porque sabía lo que me esperaba y no tenía buenas expectativas. Al margen, Blaze fue un titan, se bancó todos los palazos que le tiraron por ser el elegido para suplir a Bruce. El gran equivocado no fue Blaze por estar cantando en la banda sino Steve Harris por haberlo elegido y exigirle algo que nunca iba a poder lograr.

Increible que un supuesto cantante profesional para llegar a las notas altas use la garganta. No tiene técnica, no usa voz de cabeza, no afina no tiene oido para escucharse. Solamente funciona en su registro que son notas graves con voz de diafragma

Este fue el último concierto de Blaze en Maiden. Después de esto, vacaciones, y a inicios del verano: despido.

Estuvo en ese show para ver Angra y mi eterno maestro Andre Matos...

Era un momento difícil de Harris, ya q se estaba divorciando, Maiden estaba sin tocar a punto de separarse, bandas nuevas, la era de pantera, sepultura, creo q ni ellos encontraban el rumbo e hicieron algo más oscuro q daba la voz para esos discos pero cuando se iban a lo clásico no le iba bien, no se qué pensaba Harris en eso momento, pero Blazer puso lo mejor, un gran cantante en su tono. Pero bueh !! A mí me gustaba, pero lo juzgaron mal.

La época menos buena d maiden , esa vez aun llenaban estadios en Argentina , Brasil pero en Usa y Europa tocaban en clubs chicos , la banda perdió mucha popularidad y calidad cuando Bruce c fue en 1993 , felizmente volvió en el 2000

Este fue el Monsters of Rock 98 (O'Connor, Angra, Helloween, Soulfly, Slayer y Iron Maiden). El Masters of Metal fue en Obras en el '97 (Dickinson/Smith, Dio, Scorpions, etc)

Que show triste de maiden..fue el primero que vi de 9, No me voy a olvidar de Slayer que fue memorable, Occonor, sufly, Angra y Hellowen.. asi y todo Velez por la mitad, se acuerdan ? Triste, para un tipo como bayley que le puso toda la onda, pero no le dio Nafta para Maiden.. fue el ultimo Show de blaze en Maiden, 4 meses despues volvia Bruce.. que recuerdos..

He's not a shitty singer, his voice is just much deeper than Bruce's. What's shitty was Steve's decision to hire Blaze but not change the band's tuning.

@@asj511 correct. They didnt want to replace Bruce. They wanted something different, but they indeed should have tuned guitars and bass from E to D on Bruces songs so they would have fit to Blazes voice. Epic fail from Steve!
