If you're looking for clipon mics specifically, that can work with phones. Then the Rode Wireless GO II or if something cheaper the Rode Wireless ME are good options.

She's a lot more timid than in her main videos. Even in her streams she has a similar vibe, I think it's the difference between scripted videos and a live reactive setting.

I think it's bc she looks down while Riley is talking. She makes eye contact when she is speaking, though. Which I totally relate to, since I do the opposite 😅 I think some people just absorb information better when you're not adding the layer of interpreting face and body language.

@@celisewillis Yeah, I totally get that too. Eye contact can be kinda distracting. But I also found the way she was moving at times to be kind of rigid. It reminded me a bit of people when they're stoned I guess. I read that she's on some medication again. Maybe that had something to do with it.

@@2003jackb Yeah, that's true. I noticed that in other unscripted interviews. But still she seemed different here to me. Sort of stiff and rigid and not very responsive in her behaviour. Just made me worry a bit because it's the kind of behavior that you see with people who have strong anxiety or other disorders so I just hope she's doing okay right now.

I enjoyed the content of the video, thank you for making it, but I have some constructive feedback. I think that the video would have benefited from some editing, the audio was not very good and I think that Riley needs to work on improving her interviewing skills.

The interview itself was fine and interesting imo, but I respect your opinion on that so I'm not going to argue with you. I do agree the sound quality definitely needs some improvement. I had to watch this at full volume on my phone and it was still a struggle at times to hear.

What do you mean "improve interviewing skills"? It seems like she had pre-prepared questions, and was pretty good at pivoting if Natalie didn't feel comfortable answering a question.

Nice to see this interview but it is very hard to hear or understand Contrapoints in this video, being too far from the mic or the quality of the mic makes it difficult to understand

Over agreeableness makes a conversation painful to listen to

Seeing Natalie outside of her channel is weird so she's more quiet, silent

please adjust the audio, it's really hard to listen to, Natalie is whispering and then BOOM Riley shows up 15 db higher

im glad you got to do this interview, because youre friends with Contrapoints (on some level idk) you actually get to talk about deeper subjects than the standard interview “who are you” questions. . . . . . . (the only thing i will critique is that the audio could be better, maybe add some gain because its so quiet)

Thanks! I may reupload this in the future with improved audio (I used the same equipment I did for the previous interview, and nobody complained about that; part of this is that Natalie is just legitimately more quiet irl) but I'll be mainly looking at getting better equipment for future interviews (though the recommended microphones to use for these kinds of videos are $200+ so it may be a bit lol)

Yay!!! I've already watched all of the Contrapoints videos....around 3 times each. And I'm subscribed to her Patreon and have seen all the Tangent videos. _And_ have watched/listened to every interview she's ever done. So this was an excellent surprise! 2 HOURS of conversation with Natalie? Love it. I find her mind and thoughts fascinating and rather entertaining. Tho...does the sound seem off to anyone? Is it just my computer? It sounds real thin and tinny. And like uncompressed or something...I can barely hear what's being said at times. :( I really hope it's just an issue with my speakers maybe...? Anyone else?

Hey, great interview, I'd just add that maybe you wanna go over how you record your guests? The audio quality is not great, which may turn off many off the videos. You can either fix that slightly, in post or make sure you have good audio quality before. Lavaliere mics are not that expensive, maybe you wanna consider getting new ones ;)

In case you want some tips: Additionally, you wanna get some if those bigger 'poofy things' for your mics - is see you used some, but they didn't buffer against movement (you did great in the interview, but I did want to scream 'please god stop touching your jacket' ;) Also the audio level is not the same for both mics (the pick up sound might be the same, but the voices have a different level of loudness, fixable in post ;) ).

Riley absolutely deserves this guest.

My read is that Natalie is just made uncomfortable by the overly assertive energy of Riley and trying to counterbalance, keep the energy more flowy and reciprocal. The content of what Natalie is saying is astute as always, so she seems on point to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Natalie is more reserved and quiet like this on streams. She's obviously listening and answering questions thoughtfully...which doesn't strike me as someone who is high lol. And Riley is just fine.
