Irish Tenor Anthony Kearns Sings "Danny Boy" in Washington, D.C.
Музыка
Renowned Tenor Anthony Kearns performs at a "Celebration of Irish Spirits" holiday reception at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C. on Thurs., Dec. 17, 2009. In this clip, Kearns sings Danny Boy. At the piano is Eric Stern.
Possibly the most beloved of all Irish music was finalized in the form most used today by Frederick Weatherly when he set his words to the tune of the "Londonderry Air" in 1912. There is arguably no song more dear to the Irish than Danny Boy. Its sweet poignancy, its delicate strains bring a tear to the eye. It brings visions of a mother's parting from a dear lad; a father's difficult good-bye to his son; a lover's parting in time of war.
It is an incredible piece of music which can be heard in pubs and in churches, at parades and wakes, by choirs and soldiers. To the expatriate Irish, it has become an unofficial anthem to the home country left behind, the home of their fathers, Mother Ireland.
It is sung wherever people of Irish blood gather, and it is said that all people become Irish when that song is crooned. Danny Boy is never sung more sweetly, with more emotion, care, and purity than when Anthony Kearns sings it.
Kearns' appearance was made possible by the Distilled Spirits Council, The Capitol Hill Club, DIAGEO, DDC Advocacy, MH Media, NBC Universal, Reflections Photography, and Kirsten Fedewa and Associates, LLC. Event proceeds benefited The Consortium of Catholic Academies. store.anthonykearnsmusic.com/

The way this song should be sung! Anthony is a brilliant tenor - all 3 of the Irish Tenors are classically trained opera singers - WOW! Though Anthony is so handsome, too
one of my favorite folk songs to sing... my Grandpa has me sing it for him all the time.
Absolutely one of very few greatest tenors in the world.
Beautiful song! Even better being sung by someone from Ireland. Makes me PROUD to be Irish! Amazing!!!!!
Mr. Kearns may be the greatest singer on earth, this is angelic
Makes me proud that I am of Celtic blood! Fantastic!!

This is a man's song.
A magnificent performance. Such a beautiful voice, and such great expressiveness. Absolutely wonderful.
This is a lovely rendition of a classic song.
I sang this to my son the night before he left for basic training.
WOW!!!
Absolutely among the very few best!
Wow, this is really good. Excellent delivery of a favourite song.
My Dad used to sing this to me.
This is the only song my grandmother knew how to play on the piano and the words to. Her son Dale and his wife Mickey named their third and last son Danny. I cry every time I hear "Danny Boy". Grandma, Dale and Mickey are now in heaven. R.I.P.
Awesome voice, outstanding tenor. I love the Irish Tenors, the original and the new ones!
Anthony has a beautiful voice and knows how to use it. Fabulous job.

wonderfull done
No way! Anthony Kearns is a well known tenor! It would be on lucky bass/bari who could reach those notes on full chest voice!
Has Mr. Kearns ever done 'Annie Laurie' ? That would be *AWESOME* !!!
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!!!!
You want to hear a rendition, rare i think,on the tenors "Live in Belfast" cd.? Try: "There is a Flower That Bloometh" . Crackerjack song composed by a well known Irish musician of yesteryear. AK leaves me breathless on this one.
happy st. patrick's day!
Absolutely beautiful. Sounds like Bing Crosby on the early 30s.
The audience is quite unruly.
This guy's not a tenor - he's a bass/baritone!
