Awwwww it’s been years since I’ve had soda bread…… I love it toasted with butter and jam!
Will definitely try this, thank you
Thanks they are the real sodas I've been looking for.

@@TheCoolKitchen or the next day fried in bacon grease.
I like to add some carroway seed or dried onion to my dry ingredients for added flavor.
Made this today. Absolutely delicious. I made the mistake of preheating the skillet, so I ended up burning it a bit on one side. I should have rewatched the video one more time before cooking, because you didn't preheat it. Thank you for this recipe. I was looking for something that was simple and traditional.

Hey Wyked Moose! Good to hear from you again :) Yeah we're making regular videos again and trying out some different video styles and topics in the following weeks
Does the recipe work with wholewheat flour or would the other ingredients need adjusting? Love the Cactus calendar btw.

pqlasmdhryeiw8 yeah wholewheat is ok, but it tastes different, slightly heavier and I would expect to take longer to cook/bake
Lovely scones can I put them in the oven thank you

Yes you can!
This is the first bread I've ever made. It was delicious except it was really leathery. I got into a skirmish with my dough. Lol It wasn't bad for my first attempt ever. Thank you!

Haha thanks for the fun comment! Try not to knead the dough too much, that helps!

Enjoying a few well earned comforts!
Could you use self-rising flour for that instead of adding leavening to plain flour? They look a lot like biscuits, except biscuits have fat in the dough.

Cassandra Hall You probably could, but if the dough doesn't rise enough during cooking then add a tsp of baking soda to the self-raising flour
Cannot see how the bread would be cooked so quickly. Always taught to mix dry ingredients well before adding milk & to allow to cool on a wire tray.

I guess you'll just have to try it to find out 😉
Oops! You did not mix the dry ingredients thoroughly BEFORE adding the milk. Also, the bread should be put on a grill tray to cool down otherwise it will be soggy.
Utter tripe. Soda bread has never had baking powder! It's the SODA which makes the taste and the rise when combined with acidic Buttermilk. For information, the round of eight is called a cake, and the cake is then split into individual triangles or Farls for cooking ❤❤❤❤
It is NOT from Northern Ireland. It is from SOUTHERN Ireland!

Buy. Judge electric griddle £40 at the most , and make them the way your Irish granny made them, in England the super market sell what they call Irish soda bread , but a million miles away from it , it is more like a bad effort at baking wheaten bread ,
