More Information:
Considering Ireland only got its first Krispy Kreme store relatively recently, it's no surprise that we have no Dunkin' Donuts stores whatsoever. So of course, while us Irish People were in Orlando, Florida, we absolutely HAD to try some of their donuts and coffee. Did the Irish People agree that America apparently "runs" on Dunkin'? Find out now!

Sadly you're about 40 years too late to get anything worth eating from Dunkin' Donuts. Years ago the donuts were baked on-site at each store and the freshness and quality control was vastly better. These days, most all donuts are baked off-site in centralized production bakeries and then distributed to regional stores. Krispy Kreme is light-years better in almost all cases.

Thank you! I was going to comment on how the ONLY donuts a person might dunk are the cake donuts. Old fashioned, plain, etc. Heavier, denser and dryer so they go well with a little coffee. Also, I was raised on slicing the original cake donuts in half, like a bagel and putting a little butter and sugar / cinnamon mix on them and warming them up. Delicious!

The only donut really meant for dunking in coffee is the “old fashioned,” which is a not terribly sweet cake donut. All the others just leech sugar or icing into the coffee. Also quality varies from shop to shop. Seems like yours came from a not so great shop. Also time of day matters.

B B as someone who has worked at a Dunkin’ Donuts not too long ago, maybe 5 years ago now, we did make our donuts fresh every morning. Our baker would get up at like 3-4am to make donuts for 6 of the different Dunkin’s in my area. He didn’t make them on site but we did decorate some of them on site (the frosted and sprinkled donuts), and filled some of the donuts on site, but he baked them in his bakery because we didn’t have big fryers and ovens to make them all ourselves.. but they are fresh made every morning.

My dad used to work at Dunkin’ Donuts when he was young, he also worked there later in his years and quit because they changed how they made there donuts. Everything comes pre frozen and the only thing they do is put frosting on them... said they don’t taste the same as they used to. And a personal opinion I don’t see the hype for Dunkin’ Donuts..

I dont either. We have 2 lil mom n pop donut shops that are 100x better than dunkin or crispy creme. The ONLY reason crispy creme is good is if you get the classic glaze. Anything else is sickening sweet. My favorites are bear claws and bavarian cream filled, and the bear claws at the local shop comes with a heap of apple cuts inside and nice and gooey, and the bavarian comes with a load of it. Crispy creme and dunkin skimp out.

Dunkin Doughnuts are cake style doughnuts vs Krispy Kreme doughnuts which are yeast risen - both are best when freshly made (still warm) but I think KK have a better longevity than DD which can get dry very quickly. Put a KK doughnut in the micro wave for about 10 seconds and it comes back to life (almost as good when freshly made) but DD kinda just die after a few hours. It's really a regional thing - Krispy Kreme are southern and more small town while DD are more urban and New England. Both are good but it's a matter of taste and culture. The new thing now is doughnuts made to order which elevates them to a completely different level. LOVE THIS CHANNEL!

As someone with... _some_ Irish heritage (my grandpa on my mom's side was half Irish-American, half Anglo-American except for some Native American from five generations before him) -- plus my dad went to and my mom worked for the University of Notre Dame (:P) -- I appreciate the idea of getting some things right with the Irish Shamrock donut. But to be honest, it's not my favorite. The Boston Creme is. Me and my dad getting Dunkin' Donuts by my house was a highlight of his visits to Orlando from about 2005 to, practically the day he died. (Though his last expedition out of the home to get donuts here was at Krispy Kreme.) As I say this I'm going out of the house to do Pharmacy Stuff and then on my way home, probably just stop in at Dunkin for a coffee, medium, two sugars and milk, and a Boston Creme.

The French crullers aren’t even supposed to be sold after noon cuz they go stale super fast... I love the try channel but the tiniest bit of research would yield such a better experience

The original Dunkin’ Donut was a plain cake donut with a “handle” on it. That’s where the dunking started!

I remember when I was a kid all we had near where I lived was Krispy Kreme, and all I saw on TV was Dunkin' Donuts. I REALLY wanted a Dunkin' Donuts doughnut and I hated that we didn't have them. When I grew up, all I want is a Krispy Kreme when the "hot light" is on outside.

Roy Watts Dunkin' Donuts plain I would dunk, but I don't. The Krispy Kreme donut is too great to dunk. Besides, coffee is too expensive to ruin by putting a donut in it.

The donuts that get dunked are the original plain ones. Years ago they used to make an actual "dunkin donut", it's round with a little knob on it like an Xbox 360 ring.

It was probably early March or late February. Most of Ireland is a bit more humid than central Florida. For every month of the year, average relative humidity in Dublin (for example) is equal to or higher than for Orlando, so when they say "humid" they really just mean "warm". Average high temp in Dublin in mid summer is 66F. Orlando on March 1 averages 78F, and mid-winter 70F.
