Yes and no one of the first ingredients is Cherry in Dr. Pepper and there are over 23 ingredients I'm fairly sure flavors and that caramel stuff that they use for Dr. Pepper.They also use in Coca-Cola and Pepsi.Bottom line most sodas. Always had some type of fruit flavoring that's just how it is.

As europeans I wouldn't think you'd be able to distinguish the taste of each one. Just about any Texan who loves Dr. Pepper could tell blindfolded. I used to go to Dublin and get a few bottles at the bottling plant every few weeks before they had to stop making it there. It tastes so much better than all the other ones. Also don't EVER say that Dr. Pepper tastes like Coke! It tastes nothing like it!

As a person who grew up drinking the legendary Dublin Dr Pepper as his default (I lived 30 km from the Dublin, Texas plant, within their original distribution area), I can say that the difference between Dublin and any other Dr Pepper was that they used *only* cane sugar in their formulation. Other plants use either high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which gives a strange, slightly burning aftertaste, or beet sugar (i.e., the ones which advertise "made with sugar" today). *NO ONE* in the United States is making DP with the original cane sugar formula any longer; the Dublin plant's owner got over-ambitious and exported his product outside the original 40 km^2 distribution area, which gave Cadbury Schweppes (owners of the Dr Pepper brand today) the leverage to break his licence in court in 2012, after 121 years. Any current-day American DP advertising "made with Imperial Pure Cane Sugar" (the Texas-based brand that Dublin used exclusively) is, I assure you, adding just enough of it to say "made with" and then filling out with beet sugar, which is less costly. (Cane sugar effin' _costs_ .) And I grant you that beet sugar is less nasty than HFCS, but it isn't the real Dublin thing. *Nothing* is the real Dublin thing.

The only diet pop I can handle is diet 7up. Don’t know why the aftertaste isn’t so bad with diet 7up but it is instantly noticeable on every other pop out there.

For non-Americans, Dr. Pepper's "thing" is that their diet tastes the same as the regular. Tasting the same is their biggest selling point here in the states.

I remember when I was in the hospital and I had started drinking my moms Dr Pepper seconds later a doctor walked in and helped us out. He giggled to himself I asked why and he showed his name tag right there was Dr.Pepper. I can die happy now.

Being from Texas I've had the original and there's no substitute. Dublin, Texas Dr Pepper to be exact. Anyway, it's odd that you taste cinnamon since the 23 flavors never mention it. Oh, and it isn't a cola beverage since there's no cola used to make it I believe. And it is the U.S.'s oldest soft drink.

There are no cherries or cinnamon in regular Dr. Pepper! Geez! The fruitiness used to come from plums but now it’s all artificial flavoring. As for that cherry stuff and the diet version, they should be outlawed! And they can say the stuff made with real sugar is “original” if they want but, if it didn’t come from the, now closed, plant in Dublin, Texas, it ain’t original Dr. Pepper! Period. Who drinks one Dr.Pepper a day? I usually have two or three unless there’s sweet tea in the fridge and then the DP stays in the box.

Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper tastes exactly like regular. Been drinking it since I was a child. Love it! That "Made with Sugar" Dr. Pepper has Pure Cane Sugar in it. The cans look the same here. I believe all of the other versions have Corn Syrup in them as the sweetener.

I’m glad y’all tried the Dublin Dr Pepper! Back when soda companies started switching to less expensive sweeteners like corn syrup, Dr Pepper’s original bottler, located in Dublin, Texas, made the decision to stick with the original pure cane sugar recipe. For many years the only place in the world you could buy Dr Pepper in its original form was in Dublin, Texas, hence it became known as Dublin Dr Pepper. I among many would make detours on road trips or even pilgrimages just to buy a case or two, or three of Dublin Dr Pepper. Oh, and It’s not a cola!

Ah, well, I'm old enough to remember those commercials, see, and the mind goes first... I also remember I like mine with lettuce and tomato Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer Well, good god almighty, which way do I steer... :-D

Believe or not, Irish taste testers, it's actually.........Prune soda. Yes. Prunes. Why do you think it's called "Dr. Pepper" or "Mr. Pibb"? Calling it "Prune soda" wouldn't have sold much. As for the "Made with Sugar" one, it's the original recipe or "retro." Why is it advertised? Because for a long time most American sodas were made with high-fructose corn syrup, started back when people thought sugar was worse for you. Turns out, high-fructose corn syrup is actually really bad for you (kind of like we've discovered butter isn't exactly GREAT for you, but it's healthier than margarine, or real mayo is actually better for you than the artificial low fat stuff. Turns out real food is better than chemical alternatives. Who knew?!)

"That's horrendous... or is it?" - Yup, that perfectly sums up Dr. Pepper.

Dr. Pepper is not cherry flavored, (the regular one anyway) and it isn't cola. It is known in the soft drink biz as a "fantasia flavor," which means a totally made-up flavor that isn't trying to emulate any real flavor at all. Though many people have said it tastes like plum/prune, and I have to agree. A vague plum taste with perhaps notes of cherry and caramel.

Dr Pepper is my favorite fizzy drink...

I leave 20 minutes away from Waco where Dr.Pepper is made and you can take a tour of original Dr.Pepper factory and they make you Dr. Pepper ice cream float and it is amazing Don't mix Pepper booze..that crap is nasty!!🤢 and you get a bottle of Dr.Pepper jelly beans..Woo hoo!!

Sodas nowadays are made with high fructose corn syrup. They use to be made with pure cane sugar. So it's nice to have a soda made with the real deal and not some lab experiment;.

In the States, maybe. In the UK, non-diet fizzy drinks are made with sugar anyway--no high fructose corn syrup to be found here.

Silverizael I just don't think you can comprehend what they're saying. There IS a massive difference in taste. The soda's with original cane sugar just taste better. If you have a Costco in your area, go buy a Mexican coke, it's only made with pure cane sugar. Compare it with the regular canned coke, and you have two completely different drinks.

I know in Denmark Coca Cola is made with pure sucrose.

Dr pepper is my favourite drink and i’m from Ireland. And people stop saying it tastes like cherry cola. It has a very very slight taste of cherry in it, but the taste in itself is unique and nothing like cherry cola.

A persistent rumor since the 1930s is that the drink contains prune juice, but the official Dr Pepper FAQ refutes this with "Dr Pepper is a unique blend of natural and artificial flavors; it does not contain prune juice." The 23 flavors are cola, cherry, licorice, amaretto (almond, vanilla, blackberry, apricot, blackberry, caramel, pepper, anise, sarsaparilla, ginger, molasses, lemon, plum, orange, nutmeg, cardamon, all spice, coriander juniper, birch and prickly ash.

I taste more vanilia then cherry when I drink Dr. Pepper.

I don't see Vanilla Coca Cola on store shelves in supermarkets anymore. At least in Southern USA. Which is strange because when I was growing up a lotta teachers and staff really liked it. It has a more subtle/gentle taste compared to most other sodas. Nowadays its all about obnoxious flavors with a lot of kick like Mountain Dew Code Red. Ha I feel old now.

sigh so much hurt for a wee comment on a soda. - so my apologies regular Dr Pepper uses high fructose corn syrup and it has a different taste than Dr Pepper made with sugar. Now go sit down, relax and have a soda.

It's just annoying that there's so many comments on this video that seem to lack a basic understanding of biochemistry. Yes, they taste different, but they are chemically practically identical, since they are both sugar. So one is not better for you than the other. The only meaningful difference is taste.

Heard a commercial for Dr Pepper and it didn't sound at all like the guy said pepper, lol was so funny!!! 😂😂😂😂 Now I think of that every time Dr Pepper is brought up. I guess bad sense of humor, no harm meant.
