Фильм және анимация

HALLOWEEN IS viewed as a traditionally American cultural export enjoyed all over the world, but the spooky celebration actually has its roots in Ireland.
Today in American Irish History we look at how Halloween may not have even emerged as an annual festival of costumes and candy in the US at all were it not for Ireland's potato famine.

I will not forget that samhain when I carved my first turnup along with my pumpkin. Without samhain, we wouldn’t have Halloween to begin with. So we should light a green candle for the Irish ancestors that made this beloved holiday possible. Personally this holiday taught me how to face my fears and adversities. Especially the wheel of the year that teaches us also that nothing stays the same, change will always be inevitable, even death. In my opinion yes life should be honored but death should also be honored as well. Even some cultures stated that the dead are more than the living, even to our loved ones that have gone long before us. May you all have a blessed Samhain. 🎃🧡💜🖤🌑🪦🔥

Lol, a event about children receiving sweets from strangers in houses originated because of the massive deadly famine. Ironic.

I'm confused, what are you saying you believe isn't true? Samhain is the Pagan festival, which over time, christians appropriated into Halloween or All Hallow's Eve. This is similar to how Easter gets its name from the Teutonic goddess of spring. The egg hunt and rabbits are of ancient germanic symbolism of fertility. Same with Yule (Yuletide) and Christmas. The christmas tree was originally used by germanic people as evergreen trees were thought to have power over death and urge the coming of the Sun.

@@TheCrackentone I tell you what. Why don't you Irish start making good movies and "educate" the world about your Halloween? We made it popular and now you want to claim it back. Sorry man it does not work that way.
