Iraq’s Yazidis fight for justice | BBC News
It has been nearly 10 years since the self-declared Islamic State created a caliphate across Iraq and Syria.
The Yazidi people suffered greatly, as thousands were killed, and many more were kidnapped and enslaved.
Now, a court case against a widow of the Islamic State group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been brought about by Yazidis who were abducted and raped by members of IS.
They accuse her of colluding in the sexual enslavement of kidnapped girls and women.

@@user-ut3dy5jz6s Actually, all Kurds were once Yazidi or another form of the Yazdani belief which is what our ancestors believed in. The non-Yezidi Kurds today have been assimilated in to either Islam or diverged away from Yazdanism. The Yezidi Kurdst are the purest, most Kurdish Kurds there is. They kept mixing with Arabs, Turks and Iranians to minimal levels.

We actually do. Wether they were Kurds, Arabs or Yezidis, they all deserve equal rights and justice. They are all Middle Eastern, and second they are Iraqis. But many of them do not know even Arabs have lack of justice ane rights. They may do not touch that, and their sight is on specific groups. We actually, all - Kurds, Arabs and Yezidis - the middle class and the lower, have no rights, either justice that we demand for years. Many people fell victim for political purpose, these political agendas aim to divide people to achieve their own objectives, luxury life for their families only and to hold power as long as possible. The political class mainly aims to stay in power as long as possible, and it doesn't care about the society.

@@MustAfaalik Islam was not there to divide people. In fact, it unified the region and all races are equal with rights. What divides people greed and politics. Islam is not there on the border with the Chinese Indian issue, nor was there in the American civil war neither at the border with Ukraine today. It's the nature of human, as a mean of survival. Many conflicts erupted the pre Islamic era, even long before Judaism rise.
I hope people all over the world also realize that not only the Palestinians and Israelis are suffering. There are many more like them who also need help.
Why are there no protests for them?! Why is there no anger and outrage for what they have suffered!!!

I absolutely feel sad for these Yazidis. They look hopeless, exhausted and frightened. I hope they live in peace and harmony, which they deserve.

Shii and Turkmen also suffered under ISIL, but the Yazidis were by far the ones that were the most prosecuted, and still they have the strength to go on and seek justice. Show some respect if you want empathy.

Yazidis, Parsis Bahai faith etc were succesful Persian communities ( Sassanids) who were expelled from their land of origin or marginalised during internecine religious and ethnic conflicts. There is a need to preserve their culture as Persia of the past was the seat of all democratic values and enterprise due to her inclusive mutualism of integrated cultures. They were the seat of knowledge before Alexander, Mongols and others ravaged them for their wealth.

This is very important news at this time, to put in context what’s happening between Israel and Hamas. Because if Israel didn’t have the capacity to resist, much worse would have happened to them in the hands of the Arab Palestinians and their militias (Hamas, Islamic Jihad etc ) ! Hamas proved it on Oct 7th most recently, AND proved it multiple times in the past (which the world would have conveniently forgotten) during the intifadas. The left in Kurdistan isn't silent at all. They're the ones who fought against ISIS. Western left groups are just confused. They don't know heads from tails. And the right in the west is just the flip side of Islamists. Same thing - just less brown. All the right does is moan online while the Kurdish left does all the work.
