It is the profound duty of all in the nuclear weapon club to stop any other from joining the club. It is the profound duty of all non nuclear weapon countries to join the club for as long as it exists. We can be assured that at will, Iran can attain nuclear weapons despite the best efforts to stop it - Clearly if Israel and North Korea are in the club - then Iran can be. It is not a nuclear club member not because of Assassinations or cyber attack but because its Regime wants to stay in power by not panicking its adversaries into a military attack which it calculates would send its regime shackled population into a frenzy to topple it. It is wholly understood by America [if not Netanyahu in 2023!!] not to confuse Iranian Regime rhetoric and proxy sponsoring with actual hostile intent - more an incessant reminder by its regime to the US to leave it be. The worst case scenario for the US and its allies is for the population of Iran to actually attain self determination and rid themselves of their regime because then an Iranian governance would start acting like one - for example, economic sanction is a state of war and any government with any resource would instantaneously retaliate - but not the Islamic Regime. Any other democratic governance would never allow US to supply weapons to the despots of the Arabian Peninsula hostile to the Iranian nation- but the Islamic Regime does!! Any Iranian elected governance would never allow 20-25% of the world's oil to flow past in the Persian Gulf or the Straights of Hormuz without a tax or or toll - but the Iranian Regime does. The best thing that happened to the US and Israel after the 1979 revolution is that an inept self serving corrupt theocracy came to power over Iran and all along despite all the news and nonsense we are fed in daily news, they have aided this regime to stay in power chiefly though sanctions impoverishing its population - because that was the best of the worst scenarios. Can you imagine a free democratic Iran?!! You think 90M+ sitting on the planet's most strategically important spot would not make rightful demand? THAT is the worst scenario not Iran starting WW3 by dropping a nuclear bomb on Israel!! No, our lights would go out, and our economies in the west will collapse right alongside the worthless dollar. Star Wars? Lasers? Do shut up for at least 500 years!!

Iran never kept to the agreement anyways, and it's why they wouldn't permit U.S. nuclear inspectors to check and verify their program because they were enriching Uranium to levels needed to build nukes. I'm not sure there was really a point to it. Soviet top brass - Grechko described Star Wars-related research to be "science fiction" and has turned down proposals to respond to it technologically because "We are not going to engage in science fiction". From physics and materials perspective Star Wars was (and still is) 24th century technology (and I'm being very generous). Not to mention the dreaded Kessler Syndrome could easily send all these funds (along with the high tech they purchased) to the Paleolithic times. If they took it this seriously, - there must have been plenty of avid fans of scifi genre in the Soviet CP, after all. And at 21:12 when are these people going to get it? There was no "Communism" in East Germany any more than in the USSR, the system they were sworn in to protect was the Soviet version of Socialism. Communism was never a functioning system in ANY country. Even the entire Soviet ideology was based on the idea that Communism can be gradually built out of Socialism (at some remote future time, when? let's not talk about time...).
