In Iran a president has as much power as honest, wise, Godly, educated, diligent, good he is. The Supreme Leader is not in the way of the president of Iran, or any other government members. If something is for sure, you can take it as granted. It's really too bad those kids think their government is so much worse or less than what I've got in the US. The United States is nothing close to what it appears to be and the biggest problem for their economy is the fact that the United States is messing with it. Their future security really does depend on moving away from the west and frankly, I need as many countries on their feet as possible to have as an option to run to. And the flip side of that is, no matter what else they do, if they can't get out from under the west, they won't progress. I wish I could talk to them. I really wish I could talk to them and explain.

look first of all i should say that don't believe everything you hear about iran . iran is a country which its media is controlled by us and Israel. its government is controlled by western ideas and its army is powered by Islamic politicians. so with turning to east and china is so hard for iran because government wont let something like that happen completely. also lets take a look at sanctions. specially economy. look iran can sell oil buy can't get the money for it . iran can't get all the medicine it needs. iran can't have an industrial economy because of sanctions. yeah its easy to sit in america and talk about Iranians Living . but let me tell you the ones who work for government only get 200 payment per month and life is harder than you think. in iran we cant open any site or game or anything because they are all sanctioned by america. there are a ton of problem in iran . but all of these problems aren't related to america the government itself is thief .

​@@cottonfoam20 I guess that is one (over-simplified) way to look at Iran's political system, my understanding is quite different - specially in this election there are major differences between the presidential candidates. Also many see Khamenei's role as an overall positive influence on the country, so they appreciate candidates that are loyal to the leadership. Power struggles between presidential government, parliament, leadership and factions benefit no one

Because the president has lot of control. First the president control domestic affair and Supreme Leader foreign, in legality. In practice the president runs most of it. It was the Presidents that that spearhead the Iran Nuclear Deal. Yes, the Supreme Leader can overpower the president, but rarely does. And when Kameni die, I suspect that position will not be filled, since the people and the Republican Guard have no use for such a position.
