Mohammed Iqbal was a brillant philosopher as well as famous poet. In this book, he lays out a strong case that religious thought in Islam has been in stagnation for some 500 years, and this does a disservice to the real and dynamic meaning to the Quran. Iqbal was writing at a time when he was trying to both (a) inspire fellow Muslims in India, circa 1930s) to rise to the occasion to defend their religious and political rights as an independent India was going to emerge, and (b) to promote pan-Islamic conscientiousness and cooperation- a type of League of Nations. While the text of the book is complex, he presents fascinating arguments and backs his assertions with numerous references and interpretations of the Quran as well as from noted Islamic and western scholars. Iqbal argues that the Quran offers Muslims an opportunity for a journey in person growth and spirituality which is unique and evolutionary, and yet unites the faithful in a deep spiritual communion with God. Although a demanding reading trek, the effort to study, rather than just try to read, this book, all said done, is very worthwhile.

Which version of "The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam" is Mr. Qamar talking about? . Iqbal presents NO PROOF for the existence of God or the objective reality of the religion experience in these lectures. Iqbal only points out that these ideas and experiences have been very helpful in the past in the evolution of man and should not be rejected out of hand. It is really sad to see how low the level of intellectual ability of these so called Iqbal scholars is in Pakistan. Wohi Meri Kam Naseebi, Wohi Teri Be Niazi Mere Kaam Kuch Na Aya Ye Kamal-e-Ne Nawazi Mein Kahan Hun Tu Kahan Hai, Ye Makan Ke La-Makan Hai? Ye Jahan Mera Jahan Hai Teri Karishma Sazi Issi Kashmakash Mein Guzreen Meri Zindagi Ki Raatain Kabhi Souz-o-Saaz-e-Rumi, Kabhi Paich-o-Taab-e-Razi Iqbal mentions in the preface that: "It must, however, be remembered that there is no such thing as finality in philosophical thinking. As knowledge advances and fresh avenues of thought are opend, other views, and probably sounder views than those set forth in these Lectures, are possible. Our duty is carefully to watch the progress of human thought, and to maintain an independent critical attitude towards it. " Does this seem like the advice from some one who has found the ultimate proof for the existence of God?

As IQBAL states: “The transfer of the power of Ijtihad from individual representatives of schools to a Muslim legislative assembly which, in view of the growth of opposing sects, is the only possible form Ijma can take in modern times, will secure contributions to legal discussion from laymen who happen to possess a keen insight into affairs.”

Other part of your analysis are right as Iqbal wanted Muslims to get out of theory and explore the real world.

CRIMES OF ISLAM AGAINST WOMEN! 1-Islam has demeaned, degraded, and subjugated women for eternity. 2-Muhammad claimed in Sura 4:34 that Allah prefers men over women because men have an advantage over women in knowledge, and reason, and also because men spend their money on women. ( but Muhammad forgot to mention that when he was a penniless young man, an old businesswoman, Khadija bint Khuwalid, hired him to work for her, and later married him. She paid all the household bills. which also means she supported him financially as long as she lived ). 3-Muhammad further claimed in Sura 4:34 that men are in charge to discipline women and keep them in check. In case any woman is suspected of being disobedient, the follower should give her a warning, stop sleeping with her, and finally beat her. but if she starts obeying then he should beat her no more, which also means keep beating her until she obeys. 4-Muhammad claimed in Sura 2:282 that the two female witnesses are equal to one male witness in a Sharia court. 5-Muhammad claimed that the daughter gets only half of the son's share, sura 4:11/4:12/4:176 6-Muhammad gave men the right to divorce their wives just by saying 3 times the words "I divorce you". while women have to file for khula, which is a kind of request for a divorce. the husband still has the ultimate right to accept or deny that request or khula. 7-Muhammad allowed men to marry up to 4 women if they treat them equally, divorce any of them or all of them at will with or without any reason, without any consequences, and marry new ones right away. 8-Muhammad allowed his followers to maintain harems full of young women. the Harems included wives, concubines, girls captured in the battle, and slave girls, sura 4:03/4:24/33:50. 8a- Muta and its wonderful benefits to mankind: Fearing to be outdone, outwitted, outsmarted, outgunned, and outnumbered by Sunnis, my Shia brothers came out with the idea of temporary marriage called Muta, where everything is similar to misyar, but muta is easier than misyar. Under Muta, you can marry a girl for an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, or more. when you marry a girl for an hour and you walk out of the room after performing your duties as a husband, your marriage is automatically dissolved and no sin is committed by you. This was the only reason almost all the Nawabs in British India converted to Shia. But the purpose of both, Misyar and Muta, was and still is to facilitate the lust of the rich and powerful and to lure the general masses to join their death cult. There is no difference between prostitution, Muta, and misyar. 8b-the Shia govt. of Iran and Iraq are encouraging their citizens to marry baby girls. it recently passed a law that says a man can marry a girl under the age of nine with the permission of her parents, but no permission is necessary if the girl is over the age of nine. 8c- Fearing not to be outnumbered by Shia brothers, who allow their followers the benefits of muta, the Sunnis came out with the idea of misyar marriage, where you can temporarily marry any girl anywhere and as many girls as you can afford without any permanent responsibility. misyar marriage is automatically dissolved when the contract expires, but the husband can also dissolve misyar at any time. he does have to pay an agreed amount to his misyar wife at the time of signing the contract. she does not get anything else when a misyar marriage is unilaterally dissolved by the husband. wife has no right to dissolve misyar. 9-Muhammad himself set the example of harems. he had between 23 to 37 women in his harem depending on which hadith you believe. Please read the book “ 23 Years” by famous Iranian writer Ali Dashti. 10- Muhammad allowed his followers to marry baby girls. Muhammad himself set the precedent by marrying a 6-year-old baby Ayesha and sleeping with her when she was only nine. 11- Muhammad allowed his followers to buy and sell slaves, have sex with slave girls without any responsibility or commitment, and take female captives after the battle as booty and have sex with them, sell them in the market, or trade them with other soldiers. 12-due to the demonic and discriminatory Sharia law, women in Islamic countries are still being subjugated, abused, exploited, beaten, tortured, and killed. Zulfiqar Tareen, a friend of all, the enemy of none.
