The SE 2020 will last 5 years for sure thanks to the A13 Bionic, but all the upcoming major updates will be “visible” on that little battery in my opinion.

Disgusting battery life it has got I must say! I’m left with 84% health just after 14 months of usage… Needed to charge it 2-3 times a day hence reduced my daily screen on time to 2:30 hours on average from 6 hours, my secondary android phone and iPad 8 gen are closer to my heart now a days

Battery life and screen size/quality is about your only worries.

I’m sure iPhone XR and XS are gonna get 5 years of updates , since the XR was still sold in the apple store till last year with iPhone 12!

@@DC-vl4ue i don’t hold hope for Face ID with mask on older devices but the changing resolution and fps on the camera app was a 11series exclusive when it launched and then came to older devices

@@LeandroM1tchel That new FaceID with mask feature is only available (or *will* be) on iPhone 12 and up, afaik; I might be wrong.

I disagree with the XR and XS. If you remember, they still sold the iPhone XR on their website in 2021, until their iPhone 13 event, but still, they held onto it for a long time. But, since I have one, and based on its performance, I think it could easily last.

Yeah, the iPhone XR and XS both have the A12 Bionic which is the minimum for most of the iOS 15 features. I am thinking of buying the iPhone XS

Had an xr since 2019 just got rid of it.. it started getting insanely slow with awful battery. Don’t think it’ll last too much longer with the ios updates

I have a 13, but I have to say I prefer the vertical camera layout of the XS series. It just looks much classier than the bug eyes on the newer phones. I think iphones like the X and XR will get more updates, as they have much better processors and what have you, than the older ones that got 5 yrs of updates. I think in several years, 10 updates from Apple on the iPhone, will be standard.

I like the iPhone 12/13 camera design more. Part of the reason why you buy an iPhone is the design. And seeing these cameras, you can already tell the phone was made by Apple.

-iPhone 7 sold till 2019- -so supported till 2024- iPhone 8 sold till 2020- supported till 2023 iPhone XR sold till 2021- supported till 2025 iPhone 11 still selling today- maybe 2025/2026

I think in most cases a battery replacement is required after 4 years of use. So to get 5 years or more out of a new phone, you need to be prepared to replace the battery in the 4th or 5th year. My XR battery died after just 3 years. it would get hot and the phone would shut down. Rather than replace the battery, I traded it on an iPhone 13.

My 7+ is on its second battery pack. The second pack has 86% capacity left on top of that so for a (6?) year old phone. Not bad.

For me I use my phone maybe 6-8 hours a day and every 2 years I get a new phone or would replace the battery instead

According to Apple, their phones will get 7 years of major O.S. updates starting from their discontinuation. That makes it pretty a mega support; 8 if not 9yrs. So probably, anything from 2018 onwards will get 4-5 yrs support. Nick, keep up these reviews of past phones. They are simply entertaining, awesome and the way you present them isvery relaxing. You are so professional and detailed as it should. I really look forward to your videos. No reviewer seems to care much of past phones and it is a pity because people will feel they have an old phone and rush for the next when actually their phone is still stellar. I feel that your videos will help many to appreciate what they have and help our lovely planet to start recovering from all this e-waste. A 2-3 year phone is much more than capable in handling any present software. Many thanks and keep it up buddy 😊😊😄😄

Where did you find that Apple specifically said there phones will get 7 iOS updates?

My favorite iPhone I had, was the 6s plus. The battery at the time was absolutely amazing and was surely an all day device. Now using the 13 in blue color. Again, awesome battery and phenomenal camera. I wish I owned the 10 or the 10s because the design though. I love apples updates.

I have the X and the battery life is definitely not the best , but it hold enough charge for around 7 hours of Video playback . I am talking about a battery with 100% battery health . Mine is at 86% and last around 5 hours

I held on to my XS for 4 years and upgraded to the 13 Pro when the Alpine Green was announced at the Peak Performance event. Was initially gonna hold out longer for the 14 Pro. The performance of my XS feels sluggish and my only gripe was that iOS 15.4 on the XS doesn't support Face ID with mask. I do have an Apple watch to unlock it but I would rather have ease of use than be unable to unlock my iPhone on days that I happen to forget to wear the watch out or don't wear it at home due to it being charged.

I'm hoping that the newer phones get more longevity out of them. I just got a 12 mini and it feels like a really solid phone, and honestly unless something major happens I don't see myself giving it up for several years. I had a Pixel 4a 5G just before I switched and it felt bulky and old by comparison, even though it's just as old as the 12 series. Even my iPad pro that's the 2017 model still feels nice and fresh after all this time, if not a bit dated looking compared to the new ones.

I know that the ten came out same year as the 8/8 plus, but I kind of think that Apple might support it for one year longer than the 8/8 plus.

I think iphones will last 7+ because the iphone 6s has a 6 year old processor and its nothing compared with the new powerful chips that will be smooth for decades

Apple started selling the 8 again in there website so I believe the 8 and the 8 plus will last perhaps 5 years

Still rocking with iPhone X since 2018. No issues whatsoever (Currently running on ios 14.7) 🤙🏼

My mom had her 6s plus for almost 7 years, I remember holding her phone and it was powerful and has a lot of features. Now she decides to give it to me. But she wanted to change the battery span won't last for 1 hour before giving it to me. For real, the 6s plus still works fine like a brand new phone.

I still have a 5s that performs flawlessly with almost every app lol, only bad thing about it is the battery life

I am using a note 3 right now which came out in 2013. After custom rooting it this thing is still use able in 2022

I actually think they will last even longer, as the jump between cpu power is so huge that it can keep running latest software for longer. For example, the iphone 5s on its final software (ios 12) is miles slower than iphone 6s is on ios 15, probably its last software

I feel like the XS/XR are going to last as long as the 11/Pro, just like how the 7 lost its updates alongside the 6S. It’s mainly because of the chipset, A12 and A13 are very similar and both generations of phones have the same amount of RAM. Plus A12’s neural engine was a huge improvement in comparison to A11’s, which is why most of the latest iOS features are only supported by A12 and above. The 2018 iPhones might be the next iPhone 6S.

I think apple will support anything before the 8 series until 2024. And The 8 series until 2026. Keep in mind the hardware is significantly faster each year and the Iphone 5s from 2013 is still getting security updates.

In my opinion the XS will last, I upgraded recently from an XS to a 12 Pro max and honestly the difference isn’t that big.

Better to save up money to buy a brand new iPhone when comes out rather than buying old used up phones whose specs will be heavily outdated in 1-2 years.

I would love it if future SE models use the iphone 8 plus or the iphone x models

I think that the XS/Max will probably pass 5 years, but its going to be like using an iphone 6 at the moment. No software support, poor battery life and the performance will be much worse, since the battery is not at its full capacity

Thanks for making the video. I was thinking of buying a used Apple iPhone. Thinking of Apple iPhone SE 2020.

I have an iphone XR and just finished my 3 year contract with it. The battery drains faster than before, it sometimes gets very slow and messes up at times, but my BIGGEST problem is how hot it gets. If i forget to lock it and put it in my pocket i can feel it hot against my leg and it stresses me out so much.

I think apple giving updates base on the ram sized of their (phone and Tablet) products. The higher the ram the more the updates extends.

I love my iPhone 8 Plus, I bought it new back in early 2018, it is 4 years old already, and I'm planning on keeping it two years more or until iPhones have Touch ID again and no notch as we know it today, it runs great except for the battery which I didn't take care of when new because I didn't know how and the storage because I only have 64gb, I choose water resistance over battery life and for the storage I can take the time to delete some pictures, overall, this is a great device and very durable

iPhone 11 pro max which i'm now using is the best option when it comes to price/display/camera. I do not see any problems within 5 more years. Still better than some android phones with the same price, doesn't want to last so much, even the flagship back then from samsung S9 is nowadays kinda laggy and apps want to crash sometimes for no reason.

sometimes, i think back to the iPhone 10s and 11s as simply old phones and not old *flagships*. I saw them again in person a few days ago, and this video has just reminded me of how much i dig those designs (samsung note 10s too!)

You are on point with these iPhones, though it is sad that these phones that revolutionized the phone industry with the bionic and neural engine chip inside these phones will probably be not around for another five years as far as updates etc. My friend has an IPhone eight, loves the touch id/home button set up, so I recommended that they get an IPhone SE 2020, which although has a poor battery life, will still get updates for a long period of time.

iPhone X and 8 will have the same amount of iOS updates since they have the same processor

I upgraded from an iPhone X to the iPhone 13 a couple months ago. I had the X almost four years. Not sure why you didn’t cover the standard 13 in your other video on iPhones that will last 5 years. Standard 13 is the goat, lighter in the hand than the pro and cheaper.

My Iphone 6 plus has now lasted over 7 years in service. I love it dearly but now it's time to upgrade.

I still have my iphone 6s until now, still working but theres a bit of lag on it.

The 6s was the king of longevity. Aside from battery it still runs iOS 15 like a king. I think the next best iPhone ever will be the X. 5 years old but still a joy of a device.

I do have iPhone 8 as backup towards my iPhone SE 2020. My next iPhone will be iPhone 13 mini in pink. The iPhone 8 is light silver grey and the SE is white.

Have xs max with 91% battery, 3 years. And its a beast!!!

I dont think they base it in "relevance", they base it on the hardware if its still capable of running the newer update, as they already learned after what happened to iPhone 4s last update

I got a Iphone 7 since release, works completely fine, only replaced the battery once and then it was ready to go.

I absolutely loved my iPhone 8 Plus but I decided to upgrade smaller with the green 13 mini; as of now the 8 plus still performs pretty amazing for a 5+ old phone 😁

I feel like some of these will last longer in a way youll never expect Theres a cycle after all 3 years software support (iPhone 2G 3G) 4 years software supports (iPhone 3GS iPhone 4 iPhone 5c) 5 years software supports (iPhone 4S IPhone 5 iPhone 6) 6 years software support (iPhone 5s and SE) 7 years software support (iPhone 6s) Its often consistent the software updates jist cut off when the same chipset or same ram as last year is used. iPhone 6 was told to have almost the same performance as 5s thats why it didnt get iOS 13, but the rest fo these phones are in different scores and speeding so I would predict. (7 year software support) iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 (8 years software support) iPhone 8 iPhone 7 Plus (9 years software support) iPhone 8 Plus iPhone X iPhone XR. I feel like they all follow a cycle so the rest of the phone which is more powerful and would age better compared to the older oned might make it out.

is iPhone 12 the best value for money in '22?

I kind of want the iPhone XS. Apple was selling one refurbished and had the storage and size I wanted for an iPhone. It was not too big but big enough to not be mini. I think the iPhone XS size is what the iPhone mini should have been. It's smaller than the XR.

yeah the xs 5.8 is a really nice build and has a nice software only slight downside is the battery but if you charge it regularly you should be more than fine

iPhone XS Max will last you until 2025. Definitely worth its value over any new or older phones

iPhone 14 Pro models will come with the new titanium material option to be available exclusively in 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

My iphone 8 plus is still rock solid in 2022. No lags and camera quality is still great as ever. It serves me to this day like new. Smooth. Its battery performance is still at 92% to this day sinced i bought it 5 years ago. Battery is still original. No battery replacement yet ever. And it’s 2022 now!

Okay, but I found this iPhone on one of our tables, which I didn't notice before and it's that Product RED phone but a different color, and it's cracked and I'm not sure if it's charging or not, and I want to fix it because it could have an outdated iOS version. Both the back and the front are cracked

I like that I got this video recommended to me the day I replaced my iPhone XR with the iPhone 13 Pro Max because I thought my previous phone was aging.

As long as the phone can call and chat and browsing it is useful

Wait what? The XR & XS Models have the A12 Chipset The X & 8s have an A11 Chipset. The XR will have longer support due to the Chipset. The 8 plus & X are the same phone internally. So they will get axed the same time. The 6S & 7 will both hopefully stop receiving updates this year.
