The XS has the same chip as the XR, and a better display resolution than the XR. So I would say XR > X and XR < XS

I'm using the XR right now and extremely happy with it. The battery is deteriorating but everything else is still fresh.

I’ve got the Xs (which is basically 95% the same as the X with a bit better performance) and it’s a solid phone. Mine is at 90% battery health and pretty much never stutters or lags. The biggest drawbacks tho are the battery and camera. I don’t think I’ve gone a single day without worrying what my battery % is at the top right. The battery is not horrifically bad it’s just you need to always be aware of it. It’s not like if you just forget that there’s a useable battery inside your phone and you use it throughout the whole day and not have to worry that the phone will die. No, you do have to worry. And the cameras advancements since the 11 pro speak for themselves really. Personally I was really looking forward to the 13 pro and if they had added some form of TouchID I’d have been sold on buying it. But in the world of masks no fingerprint recognition is a massive dealbreaker. I might even stick with the Xs for another 12 months until the 14 pro just for TouchID.

That's interesting you have issues with the battery lasting all day. The battery life on my X has been excellent, though I suspect my usage is probably different from yours. What kind of things do you do on your phone that use up the battery?

I've got the X around last September and I'm in love with it. It is my first iPhone and everything's been perfect so far but the fact that I can't use a second SIM is a bit disappointing. And if that's a thing I can deal with, it's just a beginning. I also can't make use of its 4k display because, apparently KZread doesn't support it on iPhones older than Xs, while it's definitely more than capable of it. And finally, I've literally just updated to iOS 15 30 minutes ago and half of the new features are not available on iPhone X and older devices. This is insane! A11 feels faster than most Android phones nowadays, it could've easily taken it. The lack of optimization is just ridiculous! I might consider updating to iPhone 13 mini when the price drops later at the end of next year to get a second SIM and a better support for future iOS releases. I really don't like the bigger size of iPhone 11/12/13 and I hope Apple won't discontinue the mini series for some time. iPhone X is perfect and could've been around for way more time, if only Apple didn't discontinue it the following year in favor of the Xs, leaving it without developers attention. With a smaller user base, even Google and Apple themselves don't care about optimizing their apps for A11, leaving it in the same group as A10 and previous iPhone generations. It is good, but it could've been so much better with better support. But still way better than an average 2017 Samsung though.

Grab the 12 mini or 13 mini. In fact, they’re smaller than the X (X is 5.8 inches & the minis are 5.4 inches)

The feature issue will remain. Everytime theres a new ios release the newest devices will tend to have more of the newer features. Its just business at the end of the day. When you get the 13mini and the next time ios 16 and iphone 14 is released the same thing will happen.

I upgraded to iPhone 11 from my iPhone X back in 2019, yeah the OLED is nice, I still have it on my Apple Watch Series 5, but the performance, battery life, screen size and camera boost were worth it at least imo, I also got a frosted back transparent case for the 11 so it feels kinda like the 11 Pro.

Stumbled across this video when trying to make my choice between the two models and the photos you’ve taken on the X are of my auntie’s coffee shop in Ambleside! Small world 😂

Using the iPhone X paired with a series 2 watch. Love them both! They still work great! I have 0 complaints!! Will continue to use them for probably several more years!

My XR is at 96% Battery Health, really good battery for a day or more depending on the apps I use. Rear and front camera is noticeably not as good as the newer iPhone, especially low-light photos if you're ever in a dark setting but better than nothing. I can see why the XR was one of the best selling iPhones out of the recent releases now that I own an XR. Also, my brother has the Red SE 2020 and its A13 chip does help the rear camera have much better photos than my XR's rear camera, but he says the battery is below average-to average some days and carries one of those Mophie battey-case accessories when he knows he'll be using the phone alot. Other that the average cameras, the XR is pretty great.

I was able to purchase my mother's new phone thanks to this. It was down to these two. I went with the XR for speed and bigger screen. Thanks for the help!

Literally love these videos of yours. While everyone is busy w the new iPhone, you show that older iphones are still very very capable for average consumer work and we don't necessarily need the latest and greatest :') kudos to your content creation always.

The difference between the 2 is what I am considering. Thought I wanted iPhone X due to reviews and raves about OLED screen. But holding back both in my hands today am unsure now. Shop tell me XR is a year later and should be supported longer. Not big into taking photos. Bigger screen will make reading ebooks and watching videos easier than current 4.7” screen on current iPhone 6. Feel I am overthinking the options as iPhone X has become iconic. How are you finding the compare between both ? Any guidance to help me decide?

@@arturoehr thank you. I think that is the way I am going. I have always - since iPhone 3 - bought new from Apple. But now as a senior citizen- I can’t justify paying for a brand new phone. Have an ipad from last year & Mac book air about 8? Year old. But ipad and iPhone 6 most used.

@@Laylaclaus yeah sometimes there are good deals on “old” devices and they run the same software like new devices.

i've been dreaming of getting an iphone someday. i worked to have the money and get myself the XR. i have more than enough now to get pre-loved ones, but i can't bring myself to buy it. im 19 and i feel guilty of buying such an expensive one while my parents' have cheaper phones :< im just gonna wait til my phone gets really old. (its almost 3 yrs now). for now, ill just watch unboxing videos.. bc someday, im gonna get that, I'll be back once i have it 🥺

Not long ago I changed from a Samsung a71 (which had lots of problems) to an iPhone x and I have no regrets, although the battery isn't the best, it is smooth, good camera in my opinion, and has worked perfectly for little more than a year now.

In order to unlock using Face ID you have to look directly at the iPhone so that test of the x vs xr essential accurate because you had to look at one then the other to get them to unlock

Blue iPhone Xr here since 2 weeks, I previously had an iPhone X earlier this year but I don’t really notice the differences between the screens in my casual use… but for thé battery life there is a real difference, the size also can be an issue since it is heavy in the pockets when you don’t have the habit of big phones So I also think that it’s a matter of personal choice for that stuff but me personally I also prefer the iPhone X but the Xr still is a big deal in terms of price and neural engine 😋

Xr or XsMax?

This might be a hot take, but the display on the XR is better in my opinion. It has a higher total resolution and point resolution than the OLED on the X and I prefer the subpixel layout. The white point looks better to me although you can argue wether it’s more accurate (it can also vary quite a bit between units) and the difference in black levels are only apparent in dim to dark environments, which isn’t a big deal for me. The only advantages to the X for me are the steel frame, telephoto camera, better raw files (although you could argue that’s subjective), and more compact size.

The iPhone X doesn’t have the main features in iOS 15 (A12 chip or later required) and it has an A11 chip. But the XR has an A12 chip, so that iPhone will get the iOS 15 features. So I’ll obviously go for the iPhone XR, even though it only has one camera, compared to two cameras built with the iPhone X

That’s what the man in the shop was trying to guide me today. 1st time to hold both phones today. X looks more dramatic but XR bigger screen although not OLED. However XR RELEASED a year after iPhone X. So which to choose 🤔

@@Laylaclaus why did I say ‘XR’ over the ‘X’? A few reasons: even though the XR has only one camera like the older iPhones (2007-2015 era) the XR has all the iOS 15 features, which the X doesn’t have. And the X has two cameras because you can zoom in 2x closer to the shot. However, the X doesn’t have the iOS 15 features. As the features require A12 chip (the XR has the A12, while the X has the A11) The XR is cheaper than the X

I'm keeping my iPhone X, you can change the display and battery without any "important battery or display message" I change my battery after it hits the 500 cycle.

The Xr is the best value iphone anyone in the market should get today, especially for T-Mobile USA and AT&T users. Nobody ever talks about this as it isn't a glamorous feature as a retina screen, but to put it simply the older iPhone X doesn't have newer Band 71 600 Mhz LTE spectrum, which provides much better reception and wall penetration. What good is an iPhone X if you have a weaker slower signal? If you want to take advantage of LTE's full features then the Xr or Xs should be the minimum iPhone anyone should be using in North America going forward into 2022+.

Xr or Xs??

I have both of these phones. The X is my personal phone, which I got this year. The XR is my work phone, which was provided by my work. I prefer the size of the X over the XR. The battery has been excellent for me on the X…seems as good as the 6 Plus, which was the best battery life I’ve ever had on a smartphone. The XR battery is excellent too, but hard for me to compare since I only use the XR for calls, emails, and some photos. I usually charge my XR once or twice a week. The X I charge on my commute to and from work but not typically during the night during my work week. The screen on the XR is great and the fact that it is lower resolution is not an issue in the slightest. Other than the blacks (only really noticeable side by side), I don’t see much of a difference…this thing about the XR’s screen was completely overblown. Both are amazing phones but the size of the X is what made up my mind over the XR.

Also the iPhone XR can support an additional eSim which is amazing for travelling and saving on data costs, whereas the X does not have this feature

Happy with my x I mean iPhone X 🤗

Man, I actually use the XR and wanna get my hands on the X but it’s $580 refurbished where I live which is almost the price of of a new iPhone 12 mini after the release of the 13 which is just crazy, but for my personal recommendation the XR is fantastic, the large bezels are starting to show their age, although speed is great and hardly any glitches! Love the videos!

You’ve certainly not tested a game like PUBG or Genshin Impact, you’d not say there is a slight difference if you did. That A12 Bionic shows the A11 Bionic’s age on that category.

I think A12 is still much better because IOS 15 has many features only on A12 and newer, so I think it's possible the A11 might lose os updates at the same time as A10 or A9.

@@arturoehr yeah but with the new OS’ coming out it’ll show it’s age even on those, now we’ve got iOS 15 and soon will get the next patches which will eventually slow it down. I only spoke to the very few people that care about it, am not trying to say he was wrong. I feel as though such is also what he should touch as there are a few of us that care about that.
