This year-old video came in handy. I had every component ready to do my screen repair except the programmer. The programmer added $50 to my repair but it made the repair as professional as any repair that I've ever done. I had NO idea that this could even be done. I feel empowered. Thank you! Repair complete success!

Would be cool but likely won’t happen as they’re paired to the device and it stores like a key in the SEP which is encrypted. Though it might be possible at some point especially with the checkm8 exploit, people were able to get the SEP key and if they can figure out how it works they might be able to at some point. Though that may be bad as then hackers could potentially access your passwords and bypass biometrics, which is why Apple doesn’t allow 3rd parties to repair the home button or FaceID as the SEP is a super important part of securing the device.

Great video and excellent steps to preform a restore of an iPhone X, however, ifixit Australia doesn't show the screen in their parts list, did you have to order from the US/

Hey Hugh Jeffery, quick question would there be any way to replace the barometer and compass censor on the Xs max? And if so where would the be located. I bought a brand new x max and tried to test the water resistance and it got water damage and I took it to geek squad for a diagnoses because it keeps shorting our every 3 mins and it just won’t stop resetting and they said that it’s the barometer and compass censor causing the headache. But they want $600 US dollars for the repair

I bought the iphone X for $550 last month and she said that the rear and front cameras weren't working as well as face id. So I had to buy the replacement parts and oh my I regret it. Somehow. It's true the cameras weren't working at all and last night, I turn on the camera and it's working fine. I think I just have to update the software or it has something to do with the ios 12 being the worst

Hugh I have a question and I'm becoming very impatient with not being able to use my iPhone X lol...anyways I accidentally dropped it in water a while back and I believe I was able to salvage it because the phone still turns on and seems to work somewhat flawlessly except for the fact that about 1/4 of the screen (the left side) doesn't seem to acknowledge touch at all. I can't select any apps on the left side of the screen and even my settings menu. So my question to you is, do you think its possible to get fixed? or do you think there is probably water damage and its not salvageable? also on another note...I broke my iPhone XR screen the other day and got it repaired by one of those kiosks in the mall and literally the next day it stopped recognizing my touch at random times. for the majority of the day the phone doesn't work but randomly it will begin to work for a short period of time. anything you recommend on my end to fix it by chance?

hey man, great vid! My new screen doesn't light up when I tested it, could it be a dud screen? I don't have a programmer so could the phone reject the new screen as the software doesn't match the handset? When I reconnected the old broken screen it light up fine.

This is very useful. But I have a couple questions. I dropped my company’s phone and the screen got cracked. But since the beginning the phone hadn’t True Tone. So I don’t need to reprogram the new screen right? Because the reprogram is only to get that function back, right? I’m worried about it because doing this myself will save me nearly $60 bucks compare to take it to a technical. Thanks for making this video.
