The whole point of the SE is for it to be a smaller phone that's why people were complaining about this new SE being too big.

Just got my SE as an, "I want to be less attached to my phone," device after spending a year with my Samsung S10+. It's going to aim for more utilitarian use and the goal is to have something that will get updates for at least a few years. Looking forward to giving it a shot.

I'm doing this too. I dumped my S7 for a Nokia 3310 3G in November to try and go cold turkey detox on smart phone addiction and it was an amazing decision. In january with my experiment a success, I upgraded slightly to an iPhone 4S that I managed to downgrade to iOS 6, which netted me 2 whole days on one charge considering I didn't use it for anything other than the basics (except Stocks and email). This effectively meant that I still had the option of some smartphone capabilities but not to the extent that I'd start using it as a crutch for my brain again (most notably because most modern websites crash that ancient version of Safari when trying to load). Unfortunately spotty network service on T-mobile's 2g/3g networks in my area resulted in enough dropped phone calls for me to get frustrated enough to return to the modern world, so I switched back over to an iPhone 5S that I still had lying around temporarily till I find a better solution. I'll probably be buying a new phone (either an SE2 or an iPhone 8) as the battery in that 5S is so worn down that it just shuts off when it reaches 42%, but this isn't predictable either. Even with my minimal phone usage it's random shutoffs are enough to irritate me into buying a new phone, something that has been an annual habit of mine for years. I expect to get a modern phone and still use it for the most basic of things to A) make the battery have many years of life left and B) leave my reliance on a smart phone to a minimum

Android is not just a company. there are many manufacturers that use Android in their devices. they still have great value for Their price. it's just how much you want to spent in a phone. even under 200 dollars many Android phone has fast charging with 18 to 30 W charger in box that you can't even expect from apple. and many of those low midrange phones start giving 99 Hz display and great looking display with hole punch and water fall not like Apple who have huge notch at the top and looks Ugly...

Just got my SE and I absolutely love this thing. The camera is incredible, it runs super fast, the colors are really vibrant, and Touch ID! Especially since as of right now where we live in a world of face masks, Face ID is pretty inconvenient.

I am keeping my iPhone 8. It still has some juice to it, performance-wise. I really hate that Apple decided to end the touchID function in newer models, and Im glad that they brought it back with the new SE. As a former user of the first SE, I can tell that they have done a great job that will fit a very broad audience.

I’ve saved $3,000 by having my 6 for the past 4-5 years. I’m getting the se. I can’t stand big phones!

Just quit my original SE last year after the charge port died. Been waiting for the new SE and I think they nailed it.

I had the original 2016 SE, just bought the 11 yesterday. Dont regret it at all, was concerned about the size but it is actually very good. I recommend getting a case that is not slippery, makes it easier to hold with one hand

Was using a 6S before I got SE last week. I love the battery life on the SE. That alone made it worth it. I loved my 6S, and the SE is like a 6S with phenomenal battery life.

It seems like SE is basically a budget iPhone 11. That’s pretty sick.

I looked at both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE 2. I got the SE 2, and haven’t regretted it! With the bezels, it gives my thumbs a place to rest.

Love this phone. Received it as a gift for 140 days sober. Most complain about the battery life but can easily get a full day out of it at moderate use

I love the size of the new SE but i think ill keep my 8 Plus! SE caught my attention tho! The digital button thing and the size of it its pretty nice for 2020.

Jon. Thank you for sharing your expertise to all of us during all these years. For the next reviews I would like to see more use of infographics, which is very useful when talking about specs, pricing, etc, also I think you have enough command and respect in the tech world to do something more risky, upbeat and refreshing for a review, undertstandably maybe the subject of the review was not really exciting to start with.

Thank you for making this video, I’m maybe considering going to the new SE from an iPhone 7+ I was undecided because of screen display and cameras, but with your explanations, my preference for Touch ID (especially now), and considering the price of the SE, it seems like SE is the direction I’ll go.

I’m gonna get that SE, but my current SE is still functioning at full blast so, probably won’t even upgrade for another year. Thanks for a solid review.

Dude !!!!!the 5s in my opinion was the best iPhone ever made absolute BEAST of a phone in its time

I got mine today and the camera is absolutely stunning. The phone is also just super speedy all around and the battery life is great. It was such a good upgrade from my 7.

Thank you for the reviews. You definitely helped me decide on the SE. I currently have the 7 and it’s glitching and and goes to aol dialup speed when connected to WiFi if it stays connected. I’m not tech savvy just need for calls, text, email, random google searches and KZread. I wish these phones lasted longer. But thank you for the informative reviews

Another nice feature of those Apple 4.7 inch phones is that there are plenty of cases available. And I believe that Apple has kept the physical dimensions identical so a case made for the iPhone 7 will still fit the new iPhones.

Hey I’m watching this on my se lol! The only few things that I personally would’ve liked is the original finish on the back and flat sides since the glass and rounded edges make the phone very slippery. The phone is really fast and a reasonable size. I would definitely recommend a case. It is an excellent way to dip your toes into iOS as was the case with me. After 2 days I kind of have the hang of it already.

Too bad Apple discontinued the 256GB option for both the 11 and SE 2020. So, at the bare minimum, I'm considering the 12 mini.

I've been contemplating whether I should switch to this small, less complicated, less flexible, less immersive phone. I'm an Android user and it really does a lot for me, which makes it easy to get too attached to it. Not to mention, its big, beautiful, immersive display. My chosen course at school requires a lot of reading, even during breaks. I just usually reach for my phone whenever I get some "free" time, which I think makes a big impact on how I manage my time. Even when I get home, my phone distracts me from reading. Ever since we were put on quarantine, I've been doing a lot of thinking, including whether I should go for it. I don't know if I'm ready for it. I have other devices too, including an iPad Pro 11", iPad Air 1, and a MacBook Pro, but they are less distracting as I usually use them to do school stuff. My phone is the one I'm having problems with.

I am on iPhone 8 Plus and I preordered last week 2 iPhones SE, one for myself and one for my wife who was on Samsung S8 for over 2 years so for her it’s a really good upgrade she hasn’t had an iPhone since iPhone 6. The SE is more amazing than people give it credit although there hasn’t been too much criticism. The SE IS AMAZING.

I’ll keep my xr for another year until probably the 12 comes out. It’s basically the same as the 11 but the 11 has a better camera and ram.

Here’s my dilemma, I brought the first iPhone SE Back when it was released (2016) and that’s been My Phone ever since. But I noticed the battery life decreased overtime until the point where it would only last a half a day without even using it. I’m in desperate need of a new iPhone because my iPhone has completely shut down, it no longer works. I just went from LG fortune to iPhone SE 2020 so yes, I’m satisfied with the size, look of it, weight, software and hardware!!! Way better than what I had... the speed compared to what I had, is amazing... and I’m not complaining at all lol

I’m still enjoying with my iPhone SE second generation and it’s working fine so I think I’m gonna keep it😊

Khwa Nyo Thwe agree is like the 8but slight improvement, getting around 4 hours of screen time. But using the fast charger type C went from 17% to 79% in 30 Min. In one hour was at 95%.

I have SE 2020 and its lightning fast. Changed from 6 and the difference is crazy. The main reason I bought it is TouchID.

I had an iPhone 8, and while I didn't mind the small screen and the under 1080p display (the colors and True Tone were great), I switched to an 11 and I could say I probably couldn't go back to a smaller display. I will say during now I miss Touch ID (wearing a mask around will make Touch ID much better) currently, and the bezels did help with holding the phone in regards to holding it horizontally when needed.

In the old days this would have been called a 8s and cost the same as a 8. A 8s from another timeline.

Great video Jon, I see a great market for the iPhone SE and it has a lot of nice things going for it. It will be interesting to see if Apple does this type of refresh again someday, take the body of an older model phone, upgrade some things and place a price tag on it and see if people buy it!

Just ordered my SE and I’m super excited like I can’t contain my excitement!! This is such an upgrade from my Flip Phone and an upgrade from the I phone 8, in my opinion! I can’t wait for it to get here ^^

Bought the new SE and a Powercore for emergencies. Previous SE I had it for 5 years without any errors.

I just bought a second hand iphone 8 plus(yesterday actually) and I’m so happy with it, im coming from budget android phones so this is the first time I actually have a good phone :)

I’m currently still using my Samsung S9+ and it’s the only phone I’ve never upgraded when the new version came out. I’m going back to the SE after many years of spending to much money on chasing the newest of the new....

M Varo mine requires a new battery already, I’ve got around 30% battery life when going to bed and if it’s not plugged in to the charger it’s dead by the morning. Plus it’s being charged through the day as I drive around

Wtf i have the s9 and I'm in a similar boat. At some point we have to draw a line spending over $1,000 for the newest phone is getting pretty ridiculous. The se does sound like a good option to still keep up to date as well as keeping the price low. Although I don't plan on buying a new phone until my s9 stops functioning.

For nearly a decade, I've been stuck with Android since my first experience with iOS through an iPod Touch. While Android provides amount of freedom for the mobile user ( mine being the s10e ); they've always been struggling to maintain update software support. In short, updates would always be maximum to two years; iPhones have been proven to maintain software support for up to 4-5 years . That shows why many stick with the platform, along App Store, and ecosystem. While iPhone SE 2020 has less ram in comparison to my s10e ( along with their iPhone 11 line up ) ; this may be the "best budget alternative" iPhone for myself . Otherwise, I wait for iPhone 12 line up .

I was so excited for the SE because I desperately need to upgrade from my 8 (part of the back is straight up missing but I keep it in a case), but the fact that the camera is basically the same made me go :/

Gotta say that the competition is really getting interesting. The OnePlus phones are giving others a run for their money. That and the Pixel 3A and 3A XL are also amazing phones. Great review, and I also picked up some good info on your comparison of the iPhone 11 and the OnePlus 7T. Glad there are more good choices besides Samsung and LG.

As a regular guy who loves tech and normally buys android flagships.. the lcd panel on my new SE is fantastic. I have had a few moments where I was watching videos at 60FPS and been amazed at how much better it looked then some phones that cost 3x as much.. amazing I got this 128gb for under $500.

The release of the iPhone SE is what is making me switch over to ios. I had an old iphone 4s like 3 years ago, and after it completely shattered when i fell, I had to use a Nokia 2, which has been a horrible experience but atleast works as an smartphone. Currently saving money for when it releases in my country.

for the first time switching from Android to an iPhone , I can't wait to test the Se 2020

I regret switching my Galaxy A20 is way faster than my SE. I don’t know how or why? Maybe I got a defective one.....who knows...oh and the battery life is pretty bad.

Kudos for one of the best comparison reviews I've seen. Who else wishes Apple would make an iPhone with all the features and spec (expect for battery life and without U1 chip) of the iPhone 11 in an iPhone 8/new SE size?

I was contemplating getting either the SE or XS ( can still buy it in my country). The big factor to why I chose the XS was the bigger battery and screen

Honestly I went with the 11 over the SE because I have big hands and I never was able to type very easily on the iPhone 7 I was using before >.>

Its so unfair that these are literally $600 here in sweden

I just got the iPhone 11 purple 64 g I love it I just upgraded from the 6s plus better camera and longer battery life
