Well it depends on what most people consider budget friendly. The XR and 11 are a bit over $600, while the SE started at $400 (when it was released). That’s a $200 difference. If I were to think about budget, I’d say $500 or below. If you think about it, most smartphones now cost about the same price of a laptop or more. Correct me if I’m wrong but when the first iPhone was released it was $500.

i’ve always wanted a 5s because of how aesthetically pleasing it looked. i’ve had the iphone 4s as my first iphone, then i upgraded to the 6 and kept it for two years and to what i have now the 7 plus and i would’ve consistently upgraded every two years ive had the phone if i upgraded last year but i decided that my sister can upgrade before i did because her phone was my 6 and now she has the 11. anyways i would probably get the 5s or the SE in the future just as a collector’s item or maybe use it for the day depending on the day

My 5s is still alive and kicking and basically looks as good as it was unboxed. After the last update it's generally living a new life with how fast it has become. Now I'm just scared of using it cos I might damage it. It's basically a sweet relic worth keeping around.

Yet another great video Josh! And yeah it's a shame that the iPhone 5/5s/SE design probably won't be around for *that* much longer (when Apple drops support for the SE). There's still a possibility that Apple will release a phone with a similar design to the 5/5s/SE but we shouldn't get our hopes up too high for it. The iPhone 8 design on the other hand is most likely going to be revived probably late March or early April of this year with the release of the iPhone 9 or whatever it'll be called. The 8's design is not far off from the 7's and even the 6/6s one. It is the final iteration of classic and iconic Apple designs (pre-notch).

Tulipa Just got one. It keeps up with my 7+ which honestly surprised me.

I adored the SE for the 2 years I've had it and it still runs smoother now in 2019 than my 5C was running in 2017, but the small screen size has finally started to harm the functionality of too many apps/games now in 2019. The XR is going to be my next phone

I bought a 5s for around $30 earlier this year. My first iphone. It was suppose to just be a temp phone in between selling my other phone and buying a new one. Thing is - after disabling a couple of features it runs pretty good and 6 months later Im still using it everyday and don't see any reason to spend money on a new one. I'm thinking if I upgrade for ios 13 I'll just get an SE.

Just bought a second-hand 5s. Beautiful design, makes me feel happy having something this nice. Having an Iphone feels more like having a companion than just a regular device. I've never had a newer Iphone so I don't know if it's a quality consistent with newer models.

iPhones always feel the same no matter what model you have due to the iOS. The only major difference is processing power and the design.

The size is a thing for me. I have wallet with pocket for iPhone 5S/SE and now I am going to upgrade to 5SE because many apps on my 5S are slow and crash often even. How long will 5SE be supported in terms of security updates?

I switched from an SE (my first iPhone) to a Pro Max. The SE keeps up surprisingly well, if you can live with the battery life, which is about half as good as on a Pro Max, at best

Using a 2016 SE as my daily driver and I love it. I have a 12 pro max which is nice and all, but my cheap SE doesn't worry me about damaging or loosing it.

Still using my 5S now and does anything every other phone does, it does everything instant too without any delay; no need to upgrade for me.

Is Iphone 5s and SE same size? I want to know if i should keep my 5s case or return it?

I got the iPhone se (brand new for $200) because of this video. I had an x since it came out and wanted a less distracting life starting with my phone, so i made the switch and I’m glad i did!

My daily driver is an iPhone 7. Planning to upgrade soon and having a secondary compact phone is nice! Watching this on a 5s 😁

What has app support and updates got to do with basic phone functionality, Primary function of a phone, receive / make calls and text messages. Most reviewers state a phones life cycle is dated on the continued support it receives, while this maybe true for continued app support, It in no way hinders the primary function. I have every intention of using this small screen phone past the sell date, as do many others. I do so love watching certain people fumble with there 6inch plus device, while pulling my SE effortlessly from the pocket, and using it single-handedly.

I think the 5S also introduced 4g support, whereas the 5 only offered 3g. I'm looking forward to making the switch to iPhone when the SE arrives in a few days. I had been an exclusive Android user since the OG Droid in 2010, but years of increasing frustrations with my Android phones, some flagship models, have made the choice to switch an easy one. We'll see how it feels moving from 4gb to 2gb of RAM. For what I do (chat, streaming video, www, some photo editing) I think it will be fine.

My first iPhone (well, Apple product) was the 5s. I got it for ¥4999 in China (about $800 US), but I didn’t like that it only had 16 GB! I upgraded to the SE as soon as I could for the 64 GB of memory (for 10% less than I paid for the 5S)... I’ll upgrade to the 9 (SE2) when it comes out for a nice boost, but I’ll miss the 4 inch display...

My iPhone 6 is on iOS 12.5.5, the latest security update, and the iPhone 5s runs the same version, I think it’s nice Apple still supports these older A7/A8 devices and doesn’t force users to upgrade. I’d recommend jailbreaking your 5s for dark mode and other newer features.

Curious to hear about the “battery health” of other people’s SEs. I just got mine used (I believe it was part of that refurbished rerelease Apple did). It’s dropped from 100% to 97% within like a month. But not sure if the batteries were replaced during the rerelease.

I love my SE. Possibly my favourite phone since my Nokia 8910i and iPhone 3GS. Sadly my sleep button is broken so I’m having to use the Guided Access feature to lock my phone. I’ve been told the sleep button is difficult to repair so now I’m hanging on until March 2020 for the rumoured SE2. 🤞

I'm mainly still kicking it with the iPhone SE all these later because of the form factor. I do A LOT of workflow with it. My eco system consists of the iPad 6th gen, this iphone and my windows PC. So half the time I'm rendering small photo edits and videos on Adobe Premiere Rush most of the time. I love how it still kicks butt, but I am starting no notice a slow down when I have 6+ apps running at the same time, and talk about HEAT. The little device can get HOT. Still, I love it, probably the best phone I have ever used. I would love it if Apple ever released another small form factor phone, but for now, I might switch to a different phone soon. (P.S- i love it when people look at it and assume its either the 4 or 5, or are so young they just look at it confused xDD )

It's not just the budget for me. I personally love the feel of the 5s size. And the look is nicer than any other iphone IMO. That rectangular machined metal body with small form factor is mmmm sexy

My SE just bit the bullet a week ago. Luckily I had enough saved up to replace it. I’ve got an 11 now and I love it but I still kind of miss my SE.

Miss my 5S😪 The Silver 16gb 5S on iOS 8.1 was soooo much more reliable then my shitphone 7 (I had an SE too but the 5S has a different feel to that phone)

After my iPhone 3gs stopped being supported i moved to android and nowadays i prefer android for a ton of reasons, but even tho im not an apple person anymore, i personally love the SE, to me it is all that the entire idea of iphone represents, it has the best size in my opinion, im not into big phones even tho i have an s9(but it is hard nowadays to find a good compact phone ;-; + i dont get to choose my phones), and the SE got power under the hood and a great camera, it is my favorite iphone by far
