Yup, I’ve never really upgraded my phone, always had 2nd iPhones & the best I had was an 8. The upgrades of the 13 pro compared to my last phone (7) it’s honestly incredible.

Yes and no. Coming from the 8 Plus, the iPhone 13 doesn’t feel like that dramatic of an upgrade. It’s a good, if bland phone with some odd design choices. Of course the Pro and Pro Max are much better upgrades, but you’re paying a lot more.

If you think going from a 8 to a 13 isn't that much of a upgrade, I don't think apple is the brand for you. And it's a phone... Fun fact: iPhone 13 is made so that if you break your screen or back etc, third part companies parts don’t work. You have to send it to Apple and pay about $400 for the screen.

apple is keeping the notch for the same reason they won't make black airpods. because it's so recognizable. you look at android phones and they all look the same cause they rock the whole punch and soon the under screen cameras. you look at a iPhone screen, you instantly know its an iPhone, because of the notch. they won't be black airpods, because the white color is so iconic from all the iPod commercials back in the day. you see white ear phones, they're most likely apple airphones

A little late to the party, I was choosing my upgrade device today following using a pixel 4 for 2 years. I was really close to going for the iPhone 13 mini but aside from the lack of a headphone jack (I like my wired headphones) the major point that turned me away was the lack of a TouchID unlock option. I get that the last 2 years of mask wearing and pin unlocking is, hopefully, a blip in existence, but Apple really missed a trick with that one. Under screen would have been fine, a Pixel style rear mounted reader would have been amazing (the apply logo as the unlock button would be freaking cool).

Hey, you can use an external DAC which will give you better audio quality and removing it is something actually good. And there are a number of quality external DACs which use Lightning and even one which uses MagSafe. And to be honest iOS 15.4 allows you to use Face ID with masks, no Apple Watch required.

@@aninditabasak7694 I ultimately dug out my old iPod 5.5 gen, upgraded it to flash storage, new battery and a fresh front case. Honestly, not having music get interrupted by notifications is really nice. Also having nothing handing off my phone was kinda what I was after, however removing a feature will never be "really good" - 3.5mm can be waterproof and I'd give up some battery capacity for it on my iPhone as I rarely seem to end a day below ~60% charge. FaceID will never replace a hardware fingerprint sensor for me, especially rear mounted, but that's just my personal preference.

@@arjun6003 I'm aware of that, I didn't say it did. It's why I said "pixel style" as found on many previous Pixel phones (such as my old Pixel 2, the Pixel 5 and loads of other models). Just pointing out that it would have been excellent, although the recent FaceID update for mask wearing has been pretty good. (for reference I ended up getting the 13 mini - the small size is what sold me on it)

I always love the “this is our fasted chip yet” and “these are the best iphones we’ve ever created” statements. Like I bloody hope they are better than last year’s, what’s the point of them otherwise?

Here is something you should look into when comparing speed of various phones. I often switch back and forth between Flagship Iphone and Samsung. From a purely user point of view the Samsung is always faster. After much personal testing I think its because the Iphone is noticeably slower at processing packets from the internet. It is hard to tell any speed difference between devices if the app is completely internal but apps (like banking, covid checking etc) that need to get small amounts of say flash data from the internet are much faster on Samsung (android). Curious, try it your self.

I think the Mini one is very competitive too because its the only flagship small phone in the market right now. Apple is the only one that is exploring this market. I am one of the people that prefer small phones by the way, so between the Mini and the Pro Max i’d rather the Mini.

You can train FaceID to work with a mask, but it takes way more patience than it should. I’d probably pay to go from a 12 Pro Max to a 13 Pro for fingerprint unlock, though.

I upgraded from XS. I returned my 13 pro and got a 13. The pro was uncomfortable to hold and I had to shift it in my hand constantly. The 13 was more comfortable to hold. I was willing to trade all the improved features because ultimately comfort is more important to me. I'm hoping that one day as batteries get better Apple will make lighter more comfortable phones, trading off a bit of battery charge.

When i upgraded from my galaxy j7 prime to s20 ultra...... lets just say my mind was blown and i cant go back to 60hz

Since iPhone X, Android phones have evolved from "NO Notch" to "No Notch". From "Big Forehead and Chin" on even Flagships to "Almost Bezel-less display" on even mid-range phones.

True, but if you actually check out the Android phones with punch hole cameras, they reserve the entire area with the punch hole for notifications and status icons only. The apps generally do not extend to cover it. If all the notch does is allow a few less status icons to be shown, it's not a big deal to me.

I think you are right. But at the same time, there isn't really much more that we can expect from phones anymore. Which leaves the camera, display and performance to be the only areas on which companies can improve. Unless of course a company comes with a jaw falling new feature that no one thought about before, which I am guessing will not be apple.

I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max for two weeks. I've just returned it, and will wait for the S22 Ultra that is rumored to have an S Pen. When I couldn't rename a photo simply, and could not save a file from my job's webpage to the device, I knew I couldn't use it for work. The phone performed well as a toy, but just couldn't do the basic things i needed my phone to do for work.
