7:15 at this point I think it's important to note, that the surface onto the iPhone 12 was dropped was much more even and flat without all these little stones in the pavement like on the iPhone 11 drop test... Pretty darn impressive tho. I don't get how he drops a phone 10+ times without breaking the glass and my phones always breake after the first or second serious drop :D

There’s a difference between the drops, one is smooth concrete and the other is not smooth.

That's how you make it 4x more durable. Note 20 ultra with Gorilla Glass Victus survived 10x on smooth, but cracked on the 1st fall on the rough surface.

@@AhmadLhaf It did & that is the only viable test. On rough surfaces, the random peaks are not good for comparison.

11 was dropped on those smoll rocks, 12 was dropped on smooth concrete. That makes a lot of difference (sadly)

But i still think its a stronger phone because of the design. The iphone 11 have rounded glass edges and that makes it much more vulnerable to “off centered” hits

@@RoyRosales Stainless steel has almost double the tensile strength. And it’s only 25g heavier than the aluminum 12

The back glass isn’t covered in the ceramic shield fairly sure that was stated before the release & anything will crack or shatter after continuous drops in a row after a while would be pretty silly to buy new phones to just drop them continuously until it’s broken because it just weakens it altogether but a drop not as often would have next to no affect depending on the height of the drop

Bear in mind; you’re probably going to put a screen protector on this.

The back glass on my iPhone 11 cracked by 3 foot pocket drop at the gym with a case on it

Did anyone realize that it takes 11 drops for the screen to shatter for the iPhone 11, and 12 drops for the back glass to shatter for the iPhone 12. 11 drops for iPhone 11, 12 drops for the iPhone 12, so coincidental XD.

I watched the first version of this video. It had sound issues, that's why they reuploaded it.

I think you got toughness and fracture toughness mixed up. Toughness is how much energy can a material absorb without fracturing. 4x tougher means you can drop the phone from 4x the elevation before it crack. Fracture toughness is material capability to withstand load when it is already damaged. After the first drop, the glass is damaged although not necessarily visible. How many similar drops you perform afterward indicate how much higher the fracture toughness is, not the toughness.

There are tempered glass protectors for the back glass. I paid $4.00 for the one I have on my iPhone.

Glass is glass and glass breaks. Smooth or rough surface is irrelevant because after so much damage the glass will shatter since it is starting to become compromised. The back glass has scuffing and scratches and shattered in a front drop, the phone scuffs in the front in the second drop and shatters in the third.

I used to always watch him back in 2015-2016 😮
