i'm wondering, is the slight grey border gone on these ipads ? that border (or that line) around the edges that the M2 ipad pro suffers from. people say it's because of the mini led screen. it's very strange, it makes it seem like the screen is not laminated, so i hope this is not the case with these oled displays.

It all depends on whether they provide exclusive features with the new iPadOS 18. Otherwise, you have a pretty decent iPad setup, and I'd stick with it! And I'm sure even if Apple finally decides to do something great with the new iPadOS, it would still be compatible with older M1 models.

Yes. Ive had those as screen protectors on devices. You’ll be so disappointed to spend $2k for a screen that will undoubtedly look worse and washed out.

My 2 year old magic keyboard has been fraying around the edges and this has been a known issue. The lack of backwards compatibility of the new MK with the M2 iPad Pros is disappointing. Would’ve replaced my old one with the newer one in a heartbeat.

You'll never see the 'true' representation of the screen when watching a video on a different screen. You are only looking at whatever that Screen can display. If your screen is LED and limited to 500nits brightness, then its not going to be able to replicate the OLED at 1000nits. Blacks too maybe not as dark as they appear. KZread too has compression etc so its really not the same. These video's are more about telling you what the specs and/or improvements have been implemented, but you can't really assess the Screen Quality, the Audio quality etc as they are limited by the Screen, Audio etc quality you are watching it on and of course any recording/compression/playback issues along the way. If you only have one Mic recording in Mono, how can you assess the Speaker Quality in Stereo without hearing it in reality? Same goes for the Screen - you are only seeing what the Camera picks up, the Video Quality and how that 'video' looks on the Quality of Screen you watch on, not the Actual Quality you'd see on that screen in person...

Perhaps this goes without saying, but when the new iPads were announced, they mentioned the Air had spatial audio and that the 13” has better bass. I’m guessing the same true for the Pro. Can you confirm.

As someone who has the m2 iPad Pro and a m2 MacBook Air. I would say no. I do all my uni work and editing on the MacBook because the iPad doesn’t have a lot of apps that you can use. I also just find the MacBooks bigger screen and keyboard to be way better than the Magic Keyboard when doing any work on it. I use the iPad for drawing, playing games when I’m bored and watching KZread videos in bed. Tbh my iPad is just left on my desk most of the time it feels like a big iPhone to me as the iPad can pretty much only do what your phone can do minus the calling. So even with the m4 and m2 chip the iPad it’s just bottlenecked because of the iPad os.

With this I hope iPadOS has some big features. Like mainly Xcode support. Perhaps being able to format media and make bootable usb and micro sd cards. And being able to expand and compress files. Oh and built in calculator. It would be nice if a built in calculator worked like the quick notes you can make by swiping up from bottom left or right.

The samsung ultra is 5.5 mm thin but in ipad its a feature crazy!!!😅

They ship the iPad Pro with nano display with a special cloth to clean the screen. What does the Apple Pencil do to the screen when you use it a lot for drawing? Also, does this mean when you leave home with your iPad you always have to take that special cloth with you. Hmm...

@@zz-.-the main point here is that OLED screens are usually less bright than LED / LCD screens, but the OLED screen of the new iPad is still as bright as the old one with mini LED screen but with a much better black level.

The 1000 nits of brightness is for SDR with the new M4. The previous M1/2 mini LED IPads had a max SDR brightness was of 600 nits.

I checked out the price for the specs I want, and it's over 2K. May as well use my MacBook pro and keep my 2022 iPad 12.9.

two things i dont give a heck about are magic keyboards and facetime camera placement. this is the stuff out of touch reviewers care about. I use my ipad pro to draw and paint only. if i want a keyboard or to use facetime - i use my macbook air. it costs less and it does everything else better.

Why? its a 'different' iPad that is NO LONGER in Production and a thicker body that may not 'fit' in the New M4 Keyboard - at least not be able to close with a thicker Screen. The 'ipad' Air is basically the M2 iPad Pro so it too has that 'old' Keyboard. The new Keyboard was designed to fit the 'new' Ipads. That also means they 'close' properly - no gaps because its now much thinner or, in the case of older iPads, not close because its too thick. Magnets maybe moved due to repositioning of internal things - like the facecam - which has affected the Pencil too.

I got mines on December 17-2023 and I love it tbh it all depends what you gonna use it for but I do editing videos on mines so I’m fine with it I love it if you feel you need the upgrade go for it but if you gonna do basic task on it ect and if you did not spend the full price on it then keep these m2
