Procreate just announced that they have received their iPad air today and they will begin testing. I really think that Apple needs to start sending them a review unit prior to launch date because procreate alone is a big selling point for ipads.

The other factor that wasn't considered: the cheapest iPad Air is Price wise compared with the Cheapest pro. The air only got 64GB while the pro got 128GB. In my personal experience 64GB fills up fast. Especially if you also use your iPad for movies and download things. If you compare the air and pro at 256 (which is too much imo) you only have a difference of 150$ anymore. We also don't know what kind of ram is build it, not only is the GB important, but also the speed they run in. But Apple is kinda quiet about it tho. (Sorry for the kinda bad explanations but English is not my first language.)

@@colorfulmessart3953 Absolutely and its great for school. And look at me, a long time Android user who opted for the 12.9 Pro earlier this year. I wanted Android but their tablets just weren’t where I needed them then and I chose the pro solely for the larger size. For me, I’m used to drawing on larger sketchbooks and when you compare the size of it, it’s essentially the size of a regular sheet of printer paper. So the added cost was worth it for me. I use my iPad more than my laptop and phone at this point. Notes for college are all done on it, my art stuff is all on it, I do some video editing, and I use it when casually browsing the web and KZread. All in all I love mine and to this day I have none of the dreaded "buyer’s remorse" that I’m sure has crossed your mind.

Just incase, for those considering the ipad air 4! Procreate did a small update a couple of months ago, for the IPAD air 4. I am getting 57 layers for 3000x3000 pixels canvas at 300 ppi. :) so its a big difference from before. Before only allowed me to get to 22 layers. Apple has a sale discount for students! So I got around $50 off the purchase. So the total was around $730 IPAD Air 4 AND with the Apple Pen combined. Definitely consider it for the price :D

Of course I would love to have a bigger screen. But with my specific workflow I've gotten used to the 12 inch screen. I can still make artwork fine for me :) I draw landscape too! so I strive for a bigger screen, but with anything, ive gotten used to it. When I get more money or my next upgrade, I will get a bigger screen :)

My original still works kzread.infoUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA , but the battery is bad and won't stay charged so it always has to be plugged into a power source. Hey, I am actually an android user. So I have no experience in iphomes or ipads. But since I wanna draw to start my own sticker shop, I am planning to buy a ipad. Since I have no experience I serach ed through youtube and saw your video. I watched your video until the very end without skipping a single second. I was worried that I would have to buy ipad pro 12.9 even though I don't have that much cash.but now I think ipad air is also suitable for that. Thanks to u! This is a lot of informations ! Thanks a lot.. ❤️ Since this really impressed me with good narrating and informations , here is a new subscriber for ya 🙊❤️

this just sold me on the ipad, can’t afford the air quite yet but the laminated screen difference between the 8th gen and the mini is what was stopping me from making a choice. have no problem with a smaller screen it’s just if the screen isn’t that much of an issue, then i’m all for saving a dime

I got a 2018 iPad Pro 11 right before the newer one came out this year. Still super glad I got it because the extra features like the pro motion display and the speakers still make giddy to use it. I will recommend the pro over the air but it looks like a good option for those who want to spend less.

I have been using the entry level iPad from 2018 for the past two years to design murals in Art Studio Pro. There are no layer limits like Procreate, but lag became noticeable once I hit about 80 layers with fairly large-size canvases. It was basically unusable once I hit 100. You are absolutely right that this device is an insane bang-for-buck and I can vouch for it’s reliability and usability in a professional setting. That said, I will probably go for the Pro once I can justify the cost. If anyone out there is on a budget and is debating what to do, I’d suggest the entry level model, boost the storage to 128gb and get the Pencil 1. The same setup has been a great workhorse for me.

I do large scale digital paintings (hyper-realism "oil"paintings) that tend to crash my iMac 😭 Do you think the 8th gen has enough guts to handle large canvases with only 2-3 layers? Or should I have it returned and go for the pro?? Thanks for what you do!
