iPad Air 4th Gen 4 A2316 Not Charging above 1% taking 5V 0.46A Repair Charging Port Replacement

In this video I am repairing iPad Air 4th Generation that would not charge above 1%. It's taking 5V 0.46A. If the USB-C Cable orientation is changed it iPad would not even detect it (no signs of life on the USB-C Meter). Repair did not go as planned in one instance so I had to reconstruct one pad on the logicboard.

I have one that someone gave me and it has a very similar problem. The port is obviously missing some contacts and it won't charge in either direction. I'm thinking that replacing the port will fix it as well. I wonder if you can cut the old port cable up in smaller sections prior to de-soldering. That might make it easier to do without damage.

I don't think cutting the cable in smaller sections would be a good idea, You can easily damage the board this way. I was rushing the repair that's why one pad got ripped. Just be careful and don't force it. Hot air also can be used but I prefer soldering iron method. I've done a lot of these and this is only the second time that the pad was ripped. Also I took a look at the connector after I repaired that pad and realized that I could have skipped reconstructing it altogether since first 4 pads on that side are on the same line.

Hi, my iPad Air 4 only charging with PD fast charging, but charging current is jumping around from 100mA to 800mA, and doesn't work with 5V 10W or 5V 20W apple charger. Nothing happens when connecting the iPad Air 4 to the computer. Wondering is this a bad charging port? or bad charging IC? or Bad PMIC? Thank you!!

    Most-likely bad charging port

@@applepietech Thank you for your response, will trying to replace the charging port tomorrow. Is the charging IC or PMIC the same IC on the iPad Air 4? Or they're two different ICs? If replacing the charging port doesn't fix the issue, what would like suggest to do next? Thanks a gain...
