Some of us think that Iowa players other than Clark have not been shooting three-pointers very well and that this is a potential problem over the remaining games of 2024. The statistics mostly support our concerns. However, we should also keep in mind that Iowa as a team is still shooting better than 50% overall from the field (seventh in the country at the moment).

@Richard I would have to partially disagree with your comment. We have gotten incredibly comfortable with the crazy 3's that Caitlin hits, (especially "from the beak" with 0.1 seconds left against Michigan State) and that won the game for us. Michigan State is going to be ranked soon. She truly does have ice in her veins it seems. I was THRILLED to see Gabbie put 4 3's (correct me if I'm wrong) through, and with each one, her face kept lighting up more. Her defense is still her biggest threat, but being another outside threat is great because it frees up the paint for Hannah, Sharon, or Addy. With their laser focused passes, other teams are going to have a hard time defending everyone at once. I was afraid that once we lost Czinano and Warnock that we wouldn't have anyone big, but I was wrong. It's nice to have a couple of conference games under our belt, but it's still a long way to March. I think if we left our top 7 players rotating in and out, our numbers would be ridiculously higher, but when you have a 30 point lead, you need to get as many people in as you can. Give them the experience so they don't freeze up under tough teams, and it's good sportsmanship to get your best players out for at least part of the 4th quarter if not more. It's not great to blow someone out of the water when there is plenty of time to give the rest of the team some time to feel the pressure and be ready for it. I'm happy with what we are being shown so far.

@@survivrs I had written a few paragraphs, then my computer glitched and it all disappeared. Shorter reconstruction: I am not sure what in my comment you are disagreeing with. There is no question that, minus Clark, Iowa's three-point shooting so far in 2023-2024 than it was for the full 2022-2023 season (31.9% compared to 37.4%). The principle of reversion to the mean gives hope that Marshall's percentage will improve the rest of the season because she was 40.5% for her career through last season, but only 28.6% this season. For most of the others (Davis, Martin, Affolter, Feuerbach) their current season three-point percentages are close to their career averages. McCabe shoots threes very well (42.2% for her 31-game career to date) but that seems to be about the only well-developed part of her skill set and thus limit her minutes.

Molly hit several from the top of the key, and Gabbie has warmed up as well with her 3's. So I don't know what you are worried about our shooting percentage after the show at Rutgers. If they can maintain what they did this past week, those numbers are going to take care of themselves.

1:12 Gabby is becoming a joke, sure she love her roll there appears to be nothing she could do to lose her starting spot. Forgive me if I’m not over the moon that she hit 4 3s in a game when we didn’t need them. I Love the Hawks, but gabby is shooting 27% and those are all wide open shots. She can’t create off the dribble and is totally dependent on others in order to contribute offensively. She’s been on a decline since her sophomore season. Kylie plays better defense, she’s taller and quicker. I have no idea what Sidney Affolter has left to show that she deserves that starting spot. Great game Gabby

If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all. These are young college athletes, not professionals. Give them all credit for their time, effort and the way they give it their all and conduct themselves. They are represent the state of Iowa well. Gabby is a great defender, it is not all about how many points she gets. Go Hawks!
