Bryan Morra As an iPhone user i agree, the fact that Apple has stricter policies over open source etc. makes having an iPhone difficult. But android is better, yet not the best. I’m not switching, I believe that Apple will fix this issue in the near future.

I like the idea of settings - that it tells you straight away how much storage you have; I always download stuff and it takes me forever to get into settings and I never get a summary. Also the new emoji bar for keyboard looks pretty cool, it's easy to admit all of us use emojis to send a message. But great video Avdan!

This is one of the better concepts I’ve seen. Nice work on the animations. My feedback is: 0:10 This is for always on display I assume. Looks nice and clean, though we need to remember a lock screen should be extremely simple. In this concept, it all begins in left alignment. The date text unevenly sticks out into the right, the battery icon doesn’t line up with the edge of the messages icon, so visually it’s a little off. The eye likes straight lines and consistency. Keep in mind the way the notch falls down on the screen and where the eyes will naturally look - in the top center. It’s a bit strenuous to look at it to the left, especially as you’ve normally got information in the top two corners, so header information is put in the top center, between it. The date and time are an example of such information. And the visual information/symbols on the lock screen should all go down in one column only, the app icons shouldn’t be used as tabs that go across the screen. The user would also sees the app icons going down the left side, and might touch them thinking they’re a button, too. (I’m not sure if you intended on having the icons going across horizontally, I assumed based on other concepts I’ve seen doing this) 0:13 red badge icon isn’t needed inside the banner. The transition animation is cool but people don’t open their phone up to see their information slide over to the right. It‘s a lot to go through just to glance at information. It all just needs to just stay in one place. Center. 0:23 the icons are nice, though don’t look like they’d fit iOS. 0:44 Nice feature idea indeed! I hope we get it. Though the tick in the rounded circle icon is specifically used when multiple options are selected at once. Apple have another UI element with a circle - less tick (applicable for this) so users wouldn’t get confused. 0:49 I’d thought about this and even sketched it in one of my own concepts. I thought the buttons for the categories would be nice as it provided more vertical room, but if you step back and look at it this way - now you have 6 red buttons on the screen. The rounded corners of the top right button isn’t consistent with the rounded corners of the four. There are three different vertical length variations of each button. The buttons are also all filled red which is normally reserved for destructive actions. Currently apple the categories in just one column. Apple have specifically designed it that way for one handed use - no need to reach across the screen to a different column to select a button. Your thumb only needs to go up and down and the ‘reachability’ feature means it’s always possible to select anything one-handed. An example is the new Photos app in iOS 13. You can tap a zoom button at the top - apple removed the essential need for two fingers to zoom out. Also Apple let you swipe left and right to switch through Month View to Day View and Year view, meaning there’s no need to reach across the bottom bar. So ergonomics are a huge factor in design as well. (Again also why the lock screen must remain as a list - style design, and keep icons and buttons all aligned to the left, avoiding anything going across the screen unless you can swipe left and right to avoid finger strain, but at the moment that function is already used on the lock screen to interact with the notification banners.) Just to reiterate my point about the category button sizes, our mind groups elements together, so different shapes and sizes of buttons add more brain work, so it’s best to keep it as a single list going down. Otherwise it would literally take longer to choose something. It’s harder to make a mistake with a list. While a list uses more screen estate, it actually turns out to be less work for us. It’s easier to scroll down a single column than move our fingers across the screen as well as process navigation options going in horizontal and vertical directions. I also have to say it’s probably better for apple to make the album artwork 2x2, though I have wanted 3x3 myself. The reason being, people frequently visit that page. They want to use just one hand to easily access an album or song. A column of three can make that more work. Though never say never that it be optional! It’s good to see you thought of it. It can be easy to miss a song. Some options to change the way you view songs can help uncover forgotten hits! 0:58 I’m not sure what happened to the top part of this. It doesn’t appear to be a modal card style menu anymore. Apple have put in their UI guidelines for iOS 13 specifically, there needs to be an indication that the menu can be pushed down or exited. The design style where you can see a sheet underneath the current sheet at the very top gives a sense of context, or as Jony Ive once said “order and hierarchy” to the UI. That could’ve just been an oversight in your video so it’s ok. My other feedback is I’m not sure why the red parts were changed around. The name of the album needs to be in red so people know it’s clickable. Also I would only keep three icons at the bottom. One reason is that three icons ‘pulls’ the user interface in at the bottom - like a funnel. (The width of UI area decreasing as it finishes) Four icons spreads it out more, which visually pulls us in two directions. It’s one of those things you don’t always realise puts more visual strain on you when interacting with a UI. Less is more in this case. 1:02 It’s a nice idea! Surely it would be nice to just be able to glance this information, especially if we have an older iPhone with low storage and always need to keep an eye, but you see this is the problem... this goes against the entire experience Apple want. They don’t want you to see these things. The way Apple intended (and yes, they fell short, especially with such limited iCloud storage options) was for you to never worry about ‘maintaining’ your phone. Ideally (and I wish it was the case for me, but I do get a bit lazy and don’t do big clean ups too often) we would only ever need to check storage once every few months to do maintenance... or just buy more iCloud storage, all within the “perfect apple ecosystem”. The phone is meant to take care of it for you. Maybe it will finally do that someday when iCloud storage can be given freely and in big amounts, and batteries become extraordinary. Though in the meantime, we need to pay the price of having a system that is designed to be ‘ideal’ but isn’t always in ideal conditions - e.g. we don’t want to fork out more money every month on subscriptions, and also people get phone addiction or don’t charge their phone right which can wear the battery sooner. Anyway, Apple simply won’t allow us to pin these things at the top in settings, or else risk the Apple experience becoming a control panel rather “look how everything has been organised For you”. Apple could also add more shortcuts to control panel, they could add more widgets, they could add things like contact folders, iMessage folders etc. but imagine what the UI would amount to in 5 years. Every app would be so customizable that the user experience would eventually just become, like I said, a big control Panel. It would become something that you actively need to keep ‘maintaining’ and would get in the way of just seeing content. Especially as things will improve, the system will get smarter and we won’t need to keep checking things or going and changing settings. If apple bring all the settings functions to the surface, only to then take them away later, it can seem a little counterintuitive... so it’s another price we need to pay with apple products. Options and toggles are often packed away. Of course I think there are ways around this.... for example a collapsible menu which would still save a few extra clicks. Or a button in control center that would take us to a Favourite Settings page. Mobile UIs are already Beginning to suffer overcrowding. Apple did try to address this with 3D Touch - Push harder to get more settings without adding extra buttons everywhere, but sadly it just didn’t work out to be a game changer. Of course haptic touch came out and is great but alas it doesn’t really give depth to a mobile device that can make it as efficient as a computer UI. That will always be a limitation. Changing and monitoring phone settings from the computer is a cool sounding idea, even though I think hardly anyone would actually do it. 1:06 emojii are currently available in the top bar. (The text suggestions bar above the Keyboard) Having both menus wouldn’t work out. Facebook messenger have a solution for this where the suggested stickers float in a row above the keyboard though I’ve always thought this was cluttered. Another question to pose is: would emojii always be at the bottom? Or just in messages app? Because in that case, the emojii bar would need to be built in the app itself. So I think a less cluttered alternative to what Facebook Messdnger does would do the trick. If apple add an emojii search and a way to perhaps add favourite emojiis , or just make emojii recommendations contextually e.g. you get suggested emojiis based on words in the message, there may be no need for the emojii bar at all. Honestly I don’t see people reaching down to the bottom and using it. They’d only probably touch 1 or 2 of them. If they wanted to access 5 more they’d just open the whole emojii menu and get them out. So an improved emojii UI can improve emojii acessibility. No need for the bar I think! A smartphone, not a ‘more’ phone. 1:11 this is one of the better iOS 14 logos I’ve seen. Nice work Good animations, well presented video. Thank you sharing it! I’m glad I got to watch it.

Oh and at 0:28, a 5x5 grid may not work with one-handed mode. Folders are the solution to this. Less prioritised apps are pushed “down” a level, as iOS has a system of hierarchy. An easily touched and reachable tap to an item that is not frequently tapped is a very justifiable extra tap opposed to requiring extra thumb effort to single tap an app that is squeezed on the screen somewhere. (It’s also possible to ‘miss’ it and hit another) So while I also previously thought this feature would be cool, unfortunately it wouldn’t work out

I like the idea of the emoji bar, like in the touch bar on mac, but since you put it on the bottom it will cause problems with the bottom slide switch gestures to switch between apps
