    hello sir, how do we know if a particular compound, more specifically an ionic compound is soluble in water?

    It has the state symbol (aq)

    @@MaChemGuy That is if the substance IS dissolved in water, I presume M M wants to know if it doesn't have the (aq) state symbol, such as NaCl(s), (Table salt)

    @@favourafemikhe8298 if not given directly it will be implied in the question information. There are also substances for which you need the know the state symbols

    Do you only separate the compounds that have aqueous state symbols?

    yes as these are the compounds that have been dissolved in solution thus the polar h20 molecules have separated their ions from eachother allowing them to react and form new products
