Diving into the lyrics of "Grito," it's clear why Iolanda's potent voice is the perfect vessel for a song that's not just a performance but a narrative of resilience and empowerment. The lyrics weave a tapestry of personal struggle and triumph, making the song a strong entry from Portugal. The song starts with an invitation to listen and feel, immediately setting a tone of introspection and depth. It talks about being in free fall, symbolizing vulnerability, yet there's a beautiful commitment to surrender and heal. This duality captures the essence of human resilience, making it incredibly relatable to a home audience. Unlike the live energy in the Malmö arena, this song reaches through the screen, offering a hand to those sitting on their couches, enveloped in their own battles. "Passos largos presa na partida" speaks to the bold steps taken even when weighed down by past hurts, highlighting a universal struggle to move forward. The invocation of the "Estrela mãe" to herald a new dawn resonates as a beacon of hope, a call for renewal that many yearning for a fresh start can relate to. The chorus, with its powerful repetition of "Ainda arde," is a resounding anthem of enduring spirit and strength, making it clear that this song is more than its melody-it's a declaration of unyielding courage. Integrating these themes, Portugal's entry does more than just compete; it stands as a testament to the power of music to heal, empower, and unite. It acknowledges the collective experience of struggling with mental health, offering not just hope but a reminder of the indomitable spirit within all of us. Its positive tone and message of liberation speak directly to those facing their darkest moments, making "Grito" not just a song, but a lifeline for many. In this light, Portugal's "Grito" transcends the boundaries of a typical Eurovision entry. It’s a compelling narrative of resilience, an anthem for the weary, and a celebration of the human capacity to rise anew. It’s this depth, coupled with Iolanda’s powerful delivery and the song's captivating arrangement, that makes it a beacon of hope and a standout performance, likely to leave a lasting impact on viewers across the globe. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

You are right! Herman Hesse in Steppenwolf explains well how jazz wins over Mozart. It’s pretentious and inauthentic to deny the fact that some music has the power to move although it’s not musical genius the highest standard. That said, I like this song, although my favorite Portuguese entry was Saudede two years ago. I still listen to it. Bests from Croatia and I am certain that Iolanda will do great!

I heard it, I felt My body carrying me We keep going One and the other One and the other One and the other I'm free falling I'll let you know when I get there I surrender myself Little by little Long strides, stuck in the starting line I want to let go of what hurt me I ask the morning star to make the day Rise again I've transformed every verse within me And given in to the courage That still burns Still burns Beats the light in my chest and opens I'm a flame that still burns Still burns Still burns Today I want to prove to myself That I can be whatever I want Gather those who love me around a table Forgive those who wanted to see me suffer I can't be fooled (No!) I am whole I still remember when I was little I dreamed first Long strides, stuck in the starting line I want to let go of what hurt me I ask the morning star to make the day Rise again I've transformed every verse within me And given in to the courage That still burns Still burns Beats the light in my chest and opens I'm a flame that still burns Still burns Still burns I'm a flame that still burns Still burns I'm a flame that still burns Still burns It burns It burns It burns I've transformed every verse within me And given in to the courage That still burns Still burns Beats the light in my chest and opens I'm a flame thаt still burns Still burns Still burnѕ

This is what I call a quality song. Amazing vocals, great performance, in native language. This is what Eurovision should be about, singing in your own language, showing off your tradition and culture, showing off music that is typical your country or your region and not give a damn how many people will like it. Not like Sweden which sends a pop song in English year after year. If you can feel something and get touched by a song without understanding the lyrics that's what I consider good music. I listen to music from all over the world and can feel a good song even though I don't understand a single word. It will be tough for Portugal because most people prefer upbeat song but hopefully Grito will be in the finals. 12 points from Serbia.
