i don’t understand why you gotta say “if you can get over the fact that it’s an invicta” They make watches for everyone, and their river line is very nice and definitely not tacky. Seiko makes homage divers too with practically the same specs for hundreds to even thousands more. Almost every company has a diver homage now and i find invicta not only does them right but prices them right too

thanks for the review...love the humor too. note: the reason it has no glow is that black lume basically does not. really happy you showed the non-crown side so i could see there was no crappy engraving on it. i found this watch in yellow (with white lume) on the invicta website for (get ready) $45 and had to get it seeing that is how much the movement alone sells for. i did want to see more about the piece since i had bought it, and your review was funny (the sea dweller remarks) and really gave a great look at the piece. thanks again.

No surprise. Invicta is endlessly bashed by …? Well, ‚experts‘ and people who think that a watch below around $ 500.- is not worth speaking of. They despise Invictas big, ‚cartoon‘ watches and ‚hate’ I. for selling in TV shopping channels. But I know better. I have a few of their Pro Divers ( 8926, the ‚1953‘, two 42 mm ones and the 9937, all automatics) and I can say that Invicta‘s price-value ratio is formidable and really hard to beat. Of course there are the Chinese watches which get better and better. But our friends over there are still a little bit weak when it comes to style and originality. Invicta on the other hand has much and more to offer than simply clones of each and every Swiss or Japanese or other bestsellers. My current ‚daily driver‘ (also diver) is the 9937 40 mm Pro Diver. Of course a hommage to the Rolex Submariner, probably the first hommage to the Sub whatsoever. My 9937 has a Swiss Sellita SW 200 movement and I paid ca. $ 300 for a pre owned one (‚hardly ever worn‘) from a NYC dealer via eBay. For a Swiss branded (say Oris or the like) watch of this quality you would have to pay ca. $ 500.- to $ 1000.- more. Thats what Invicta is. And its for me. PS: The lift angle of the Seiko (TMI) NH 35 is 53, not 52. On the timegrapher you will get a more precise Rate and its quite important to set the correct lift angle in case you want to regulate your watch which is what I normally do. All of my Invictas are in the Swiss COSC range (-4 to + 6 spd) so far. PSS: Thanks for the balanced and honest review.

Everyone always talks about the Invicta pricing. But honestly the value is there, and it's not like Rolex is pricing their stuff reasonably 😂

Your point about Rolex is only partially true. Rolex's prices are UNBELIEVABLY OUT OF CONTROL LATELY, but you can't compare the two situations because even when you buy an Invicta at SALE price, you can't get that money back (I've tried). Rolex INCREASES in value over time by a ridiculous rate, so a Rolex (even at dumb prices) is an investment.

  • @Avaddon911

@@ShouldITimeThis You're right, Rolex is an investment. But in that investment you run the risk of ruining it by simply wearing it. Wearing an Invicta you don't care what happens to it so the better value in my opinion is the Invicta, the better investment is in the Rolex. So I guess you could look at the Invicta as wearable fashion and the Rolex as an investment you never want to wear. Either way I can't afford a Rolex 😂

@@Avaddon911 That's not a valid point either I'm sorry to say. The used resale value of a Rolex isn't contingent on the condition of the piece, short of literally breaking it. People wear their Rolex pieces all the time (I know people who wear their Rolex pieces while they increase in value by the month - sadly I'm not one of those people because I can't afford Rolex right now either). As long as the watch has been serviced and has the original box / paperwork / etc., a Rolex that has only been worn once VS one that has been worn 1,000 times isn't going to be night vs day in terms of resale. You also have to keep in mind that people who have the money to own a Rolex don't just have 1 watch - they usually have a case full of watches and they rotate, so it's not like they have to avoid buying a Rolex because they want a "daily beater." What I'm trying to get across here is that people make this Rolex comparison a lot (and keep in mind as I say this, I don't have Rolex money and I honestly don't want most Rolex watches), but it's a ridiculous comparison. You're not comparing a Toyota to it's more expensive counterpart (Lexus). You're comparing a Kia Soul to a Porsche GT3RS. They're both cars, they'll both get you where you want to go, and the Kia is dirt cheap / has a great warranty / you won't have to worry about someone denting it up at the supermarket. But the Porsche (on top of having great resale value) is a carefully-crafted, over-engineered mechanical experience built to standards and levels of precision that Kia isn't even capable of. So I know I only brought up investment before, but it's SO FAR beyond just investment. There is literally no benefit to owning an Invicta over owning a Rolex other than the initial purchase price. And I'm making this point for a 3rd time just so you get it: I'm no "wealthy brand snob." I don't even have any big name / expensive watches in my own personal collection. But I understand the significance and quality of Rolex. Invicta is not comparable in any dimension outside of "they both tell time."

@@Avaddon911 Wow, you really don't get it. I really have to lay it all out for you. (guess I'll waste 5 minutes) First of all, no, your Invicta Pro Diver doesn't do everything the Rolex does to the degree that it can do it. Let's talk your Invicta VS the comparable (visually comparable) Rolex Yacht-Master. Visually they're similar, but that's it. Movements.. the Invicta has a Seiko NH35A movement in it that scoped in this video at - 14 seconds per day. The Rolex has an in-house-built Rolex caliber 3235 hi-frequency 4HZ movement in it that is COSC regulated to +/- 2 seconds per day. Even the literal jewels of the movements are different, the ones in the Invicta being synthetic (like most watches), the ones in the Rolex being Rubies. The Invicta can't keep time as well as the Rolex, so it doesn't even do it's main job the same. Case material for the Invicta: stainless steel. Case material for the Rolex: white gold. Power reserve for the Invicta: 41 hours. Power reserve for the Rolex: 70 hours. The Invicta uses some kind of generic lume that's so bad you couldn't see it in the dark in this video. The Rolex uses Chromalight blue lume which is so good that people often take "lume shots" with their Rolex DURING THE DAY. Bezel Insert on the Invicta: steel. Bezel Insert on the Rolex: ceramic. Strap for the Invicta: polyester. Strap for the Rolex: Oysterflex (literally elastomer covering flexible metal blades) with a white gold clasp and Rolex Glidelock dive extension. Hands and indices on the Invicta: steel. Hands and indices on the Rolex: white gold. Dial on the Invicta: metal. Dial on the Rolex: lacquer. ..and all that doesn't even break down the TECHNICAL specs of the two movements - the Rolex 3235 movement is incredibly engineered but I won't bore you with all those specs. So to recap, the Invicta DOESN'T do everything the Rolex does, at least not as well. They both tell time but the Invicta isn't as accurate as the Rolex. They both have lume but you can't read the time in the dark on the Invicta. They Rolex has OVER A DAY more power reserve than the Invicta. The Rolex is made of superior materials to the Invicta. The strap on the Rolex is literally made for long-term durability and wet performance as opposed to the 5 dollar strap on the Invicta which is known to fall apart if you expose it to salt water regularly. Resale value on the Rolex, we already know that win. And let's not forget that without the Rolex Yacht-Master, this literal Invicta wouldn't exist, because it's a CLONE of the Rolex. I'll say it again: I'm not a brand snob and don't really care for Rolex (personally), but I respect this craft and it's ignorant to think this Invicta is even remotely comparable to the Rolex it copies. The Invicta is a good value for under $100 because it looks decent (thanks to Rolex) and keeps time (although not well enough to not need adjustments every few days). Otherwise it's a throw-away watch.
