Yeah, people actually make that much from the market, although they usually have more expertise than average, or they use experts i.e hedge funds or fin.advisers. There's a goldmine in the market, especially as the Nasdaq is rising.

Then after that look at VTI vanguard and buy when the market goes down, market is way up now so slowly buy the market as it dips , leave some in HSA

Dave Ramsey recommends that you begin investing in Baby Step 4. Invest 15% of your take-home income. 1/4 of your 15% percent goes into growth and income, 1/4 into growth, 1/4 into aggressive growth and 1/4 into international. However, Warren Buffet is the wealthiest investor in the world and he recommends index funds for most people. Leave it in the market no matter what, never take it out or invest more than 15% no matter how the market's doing. Consistency is key. If you have an average income or higher and follow Dave's homebuying advice you ought to reach millionaire status in 12 years,

I say no, once you become a senior that’s when you take less risk because you may not have the time to recover from a major crash. However, if you can survive without the money you are investing - then go for it, take the risk, I would. And lastly, 5 & 6% on savings right now, works for me. Good luck with what you decide.

Rachel is wrong about one thing: Mutual funds outperforming the market. In any given year, more than half of all "professionally managed" funds underperform the market. For a 10 year time horizon, over 80% of actively managed mutual funds underperform. After 20 years, about 95% of active funds underperform. For 30 years and beyond, which is the time horizon for people saving for retirement, there are virtually no active funds that outperform for that long. Just stick your money into passive funds.

They're not scammers, they actually genuinely believe that active investing beats passive investing and that you can consistently beat the market. There is research on both sides. Most people will do well enough with a passive approach that holds the market in low cost index funds. There is some evidence to suggest that factor investing in small cap value and other factors may get you more, though it is very difficult and few people have the know-how to do it.
