Hi Lori!! I've been watching ALLLLL of your videos! Could you do a video updating your comments about Tote Scan? I watched a video form Christmas mentioning you may be getting rid of it? I'd love to hear more about this and your choice as to why? I love the video of TS, but after you've used it for 2+YR I'd love to hear the update!!!!! Also, if you're gonna ditch it...what are you looking into using otherwise?

You totally have a side hustle career in commercials Lori! Your voiceover was so natural and convincing at the same time!

We use numbered bins with numbered bags. We store all different items in each bin and we reuse the ziploc bags. When an item sells the location (bin and bag number) is in the custom label that only I can see. Very easy. Always enjoy your video's Thanks for all your information. Deb, OldeThingsNew

To speak on the flaw in your system... If you assign a sku number to each item, then you can just enter it into the listing in your app then you can identify it concretely. you can get rolls of inventory number stickers on amazon. I learned about them from an inventory video here on youtube. She also did basically a rolling chronological inventory, which i thought was great, and if i hadnt just put my own system overhaul in place, I prob woulda done it her way... and not ruling it out for the future. her channel is Rebecca The Reseller. its her video "Poshmark Inventory System | Poshmark Inventory Storage | Poshmark Inventory Organization" from July 8, 2020. i do highly recommend it

Yay im so glad it got done :D! Also another pro tip for tote scan... without buying the labels if you download the free app you get ten free "label numbers" just without the actual QR sticker... I don't actually use the QR scanner most of the time, I just use the number and that tells me which letter'd tote it's in! So you can actually use some "tote numbers" on the app and get started with spending a penny :) I figured that out after I bought the labels LOL but i get extra now without having to buy more labels Also, yeah I've had the spelling issue before and struggled to find a couple items because I spelled it wrong, or I used the "&" symbol and totescan can't recognize that so it messes up the spelling of the item and it won't pop up in search... it's been almost a year since using it so I've learned all the what not to do through hours of having to search every bin LOL

Actually it doubles your time, mantaining 2 inventory systems updated. Is not more simple use SKU on every listing and put numbers on your totes?

Thank you, that is an amazing system, and your space looks so clean, organized and clutter free. I'm sure it will be nicer to work in. I'm wondering about storage... I just started selling and right now I have everything hanging on racks, and skincare, makeup, etc., in 3 big wood boxes. Here is my question: What type of plastic bag do you store the clothing items in after you list and inventory them? I always thought itnwas a huge no no to store fabric in plastic. Do you just ship it like that? How do you keep things from getting musty? I'm using cedar rounds on hangers and charcoal bags right now. Thanks again!

Such a good point you made towards the end - Best to mix items in a bin so it’s easier to pull out

I just did this to my inventory. I copy the title from Poshmark. I do use number stickers as well and put the number in the description part of the tote scan. Great video! Amazing transformation!! I know that was a lot of hard work!

I was going to suggest this… That way you never have to worry about whether you are using the same keywords or not. And since the item is already listed and sitting in the plastic bin, it would be super simple to copy the title and paste it into the tote system description

Wow. This was inspiring. It looks so great. I keep my inventory in vintage suitcases and stacked lidded baskets. I love the idea of hanging the badge holders on these.

I LOVE this system. I’m actually going to take this week off from work and reorganize my storage room with this system! My only hesitation/fear with these apps is when they glitch out. I use a time tracking software for work I do as a contractor/billing, and it randomly will lose all of time I’ve tracked for the week!!! 😢. I’ll go into the app and it’s gone, zero, NADA!!! Obviously a glitch in their software, but it would make my heart sink if you put so much time and effort into this system to have something like this happen. Technology is sometimes a blessing and a curse 😭. Keep up the amazing work!!! Xoxox

God Jay must have a lot to say!😜 you’re so cute. All I have is big sheet on floor on huge unused room and my closet but I only have 220 items. Thx so much for the Tote Scan info. My friend/boyfriend/whatever will have to move in summer from a home he’s lived in over 22 years. My girls can whip those phone around and help him store everything! Thank you! Great system. Question: if you scan the QR code on the bin will it give you a list of what iitems are inside the bin? Also, do you have a spreadsheet for your items and cost of goods? Thanks very much.

That's a great idea. I wish ToteScan had a desktop version. I would do exactly that...but I could make it work on my phone too. That's a great idea and eliminates any room for error on the title.

Hi I love this idea I'm wondering what your thoughts are two years later? Do you Cross Post on eBay and Poshmark? How do you keep up with what you have listed on both platforms if so ?

This is way to complicated for me, I use the added info in the sku put the number in and that’s that. If I move it, I change the number I put in the added info - this added info the purchaser can’t see anyway. To get the number I press copy listing, look up the number and cancel copy. The bag goes in the pile to reuse

Starting this tomorrow! Seems so much easier.

If you open the box you are wanting to move an item from, then find that item and swipe to the right and it will show you the option to move item. Swipe the opposite way to delete items

FANTASTIC video. My wife runs an online business but never took the time to create an inventory system and now it became very hard to find stuff. I never heard of totescan until I came across your video and I'm very interested. How long do you use? Have you had any problems? We use Mac OS will the app work fine with that? I keep a record of the date of purchase in on my spreadsheets, but I like the idea of including it with the listing too. I learn so much in the comments!

You are the second person to recommend that and I LOVE the idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it. The only downside is that ToteScan doesn't have a desktop version yet and i'm so much faster on my computer.

Using SKU numbers would be so much faster nd way less chance of mixing items.

The app is free. You just pay for labels. You can also buy digital labels to print offline instead of waiting for physical labels to be delivered. To print the labels, you buy the pdf online from ToteScan and print them on your printer. You can use plain paper and tape them on with clear packing tape, or print on self adhesive labels. Edit: I love the badge holders idea for temporary or plain paper application of the labels!

How do adhere the ID please to the plastic containers?

Hey Lori, I'm thinking of buying these and wondered about ur same question, about moving an item. I went to Amazon and the questions asked for each product and somebody asked ur same question and the response was " Yes. You just go in and edit its location" answered by Karen G. 2 weeks ago. Idk if that makes sense or helps but that's all I could find. Did u know it works with Alexa? Thanks for this, I'm gonna try it out! 🥰❤

This is great! Congrats! I have a mic smaller closet and don’t plan to grow it too large. One question I have because nearly every reseller stores e same way...why bins and not hanging? Space issues or other reasons? And, I’ve always thought it wasn’t good to store clothes in plastic...because fabric needs to breathe. So I’m curious how the pro/con analysis went. Thanks!

I have my outerwear hanging, but the bins definitely allow me to store more items. I've never had an issue with the plastic storage bags.... so I'm not sure about that? Thanks for watching!

Basement? LOL Don't ever move to Florida because you won't have a business anymore. I have a system where I can only have a certain amount of things stored. I only buy more to resell when those are sold. This will keep you profitable. Trust me on this one!
