Excellent recap. I like the critic's sarcastic quips. He did get a bit harsh and I agree the cast was quite phenomenal. However, the average comprehension level is barely eighth grade; at least in the USA. Yes, a global tragedy but at seventy-one, that's about my speed.

The sole purpose of the whole "Trev" storyline was to Caspar to meet him and go to the hospital. Really? No other people could've helped Caspar and saved us literally hours of useless screentime with that guy? SMH 😂😂😂

The entirety of Season 1 was about time wasting, useless dead ends. It’s like the creative team were handed a budget and a deadline, but they didn’t have an actual story, so they just started making things up as they went along, dragging things out long enough to fill air time. I stopped midway through ep. 6 when i started hoping the family would just get squished by a flying object and that would mercifully end that story arc to save us from terminal tropium. Trope after predictable trope. Ffs.

@@mensrea1251 yeah u got that right! However, I urge you to come back to this pile of garbage, since it's so bad it becomes fun to watch! Ofc not to watch it focused entirely; do it when you want to browse KZread or Instagram etc, or when doing some chores. It really pays off specially if you follow the (few) reviews about this show, that are 100% negative and super fun. Spoiler alert: on season 2 in 3 episodes we already have like 20min of plot ACTUALLY DEVELOPING! 😂

I dont even remember watching any of this show 😂

While i felt the compulsion to watch the whole of season 1. i felt there were too many confusing layers to really get to grips with the context of the series, constantly jumping from the US to japan, to the UK then Afghanistan. it seemed for the most part going in no direction to every direction. the twists just kept on coming, from a family with marital problems a lesbian with a dead astronaut lover , london kids at odds with everyone, to a navy seal looking to get home after surviving an attack which left his unit dead. Who made this stuff up must've been smokin some heavy shit regularly to dream this up. i thought after ep 3 i'd get bored but as with most felt the need to find out where this was all going, and still after ep9 i still have no clue. hope season 2 gives some answers to my very perplexing questions because right now, there's too much of nothing going on.

Just the structure of this recap shows how convoluted, disconnected and stupid this show is. Its an exercise of masochism to put yourself through this BS.

If that was less mistakes I dread to think how shit it was before

watching S1 and the writing is soooooo terrible. all the main characters are just infinitely stupid, scenes are foolish and not indicative of human survival mode. the mom/dr screaming idiotically all the time is killing the show. the soldier not believing anything time after time after.. great premise, but the writing is just horrific.

I hope season 2 has more diversity. So far i haven’t seen much.

Started binge watching maybe 2 weeks ago and now I'm caught up. I didn't have much hope after the first couple episodes, seemed like not much was happening, it wasn't going anywhere. Slowly after, say, epidoe 4 or 5 it did pick up a little. I still feel at least half the show is completely extraneous and could be removed with minimal impact. It feels like we should be on episode 5 or 6 now almost through the 2nd season. It seems like they are dragging things out for the sake of dragging things out. Overall the characters are ok, a few are annoying but that's hard to avoid. Some of the writing is over the top and just bad.

Nephilims making another show. Imagine that. Should leave the kids out of it. If that's what they are.

I go through more books than you know even exist. This show is idiotically slow. If you’re going to drag things out, it needs to be with purpose. This isn’t that. It’s the creative team being in over their heads, being handed a huge budget and deadlines so they’re just filling airtime.

Terribly boring show. Tell me how the armies in the world can’t kill these aliens because they are immune to bullets yet Mitsuki kills a few of them with Molotov cocktails and another soldier kills one with fire in the hospital🤦

My gosh you;re so right. I like sci-fi so I let it play without intervention, torturing myself, hoping it would pick up. It was pretty excruciating. And incidentally, it has nothing to do with attention span (as someone alluded to in another comment). I read books and have a degree and I found this show exceptionally, almost-comedically boring (so that other commenter's guess is wrong). At least if I watch paint dry, I can employ my imagination and work with the situation. With this show, it's like your stuck having to pay attention to something utterly not-novel, waiting for some tid bit of actual content. Then when you get the content, it's pretty underwhelming and they dole it out in very small portions. The show also had some pretty uninteresting, cliched characters. At least with books, your imagination tends to activate and often compensates for the more-pedantic areas. But with this show,, there's lots of drawn-out times where you can utterly predict how scenes will unfold, cliche histrionics (they're being hunted, need to be quiet, and never cease yammering back and fourth to say absolutely nothing to each other... "mommy mommy" "I will always be here." "I will never leave you" "mommy's here" "I love you so much" "mommy I'm scared" "I know honey. I'm right here," and more empty platitudes ALL IN ONE SCENE. MY GOSH), and there's not much else to wonder about besides the slowly released tid-bits of the alien profile for 10 hours. I think it's just long periods between unique or interesting content. I mean, no one's less or more intelligent or objectively less or more anything here due to their level of appreciation of the content. Some people might like to watch someone looking into a mirror and rubbing her face and sitting in a shower for 20 minutes, etc. I found it a bit tedious. (hyperbole. i dont rly remember that scene well an dont know how long it lasted. I kept falling asleep during the show.)

Comically sophomoric storytelling, all the usual tropes over and over again, the over the top melodrama during the most inconsequential of scenes, the least likeable characters imaginable, depressingly poor writing, on and on. What a waste of time. Apple, you have a problem.

The army guy is so damn corny. I've seen him like in 3 shows, and the guy can't act at all!

Season 2 is proving to be dumber than the first season. A lot of rip offs from Stranger Things, too. There better not be a Season 3.
