I've been reading and researching diet and disease for almost 3 years now. And to be honest with you, this traditional eating makes the MOST sense to me.

L New A whole foods vegan diet can be extremely beneficial IF done short term. Like 1 year max. 2. Because it is a diet deficient in many nutrients, the body will cleanse itself just like on a water fast or juice fast. Autophagy and even autolysis will and can kick in on a whole vegan diet. A raw diet is even more cleansing.

L New yes in like 1-5% of the cases, our genes allow it. Doesn’t mean we are thriving. Put a northern human on a vegan diet and watch him deteriorate. Vitamin D/sun shine is as essential as air and food is for us. And a vegan diet has none. That’s why vegans in tropical climates can go a LOT longer than those who live far up north. Have you seen the vegan deterioration video’s on KZread? They’re very real.

Very spot on. I am Chinese and my mom cooks bone broths frequently. I've never had braces and get complimented on my straight teeth from time to time. Great vid :)

This is a GREAT video and really lays out the basics of good nutrition, especially when it compares food sources and their quality. Thank you, Sarah and the Weston Price Foundation for helping spread real healthful ways of feeding ourselves. I’ve saved this video to my liked videos for my nutrition clients. ~ Diana, Transform Health

Blue (best longevity) zones also had regular cycles of fruiting when "nature" made fruit etc. accessible (or not) in a balanced way for the inhabitants of each environment according to species. Keto may mimic these cycles somewhat more closely than the SAD diet which displaces the natural rhythm of food accessibility and consumption. Thanks for info and respect for the great Weston A Price.

This video should give pause to all who've believed in the advice given by "experts" in thrall to food companies, who invented nutritionism. Which has ruined health. The way moderns produce and refine food has failed to improve health. Nature allows a greater variety of satisfying foods that boost health. Replace the chem-agri. Return to native diets and real food.

@itsfreeanddizzy So, is it kind of like having the "right" to comment on a youtube video and to assert that Pope is incorrect without offering any "truths" of your own to back up your argument? Plant nutrients vs animal nutrients of the same variety typically are less bioavailable (absorbable) to humans. Pope is merely stating that bone broths were ONE way among many that traditional cultures used to nourish themselves... so, relax a little.

You can read Nourishing Traditions cookbook (1st 40 pages), the Price book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, which reads like a travelogue mostly, or articles on the Weston Price Foundation website, which are all heavily cited. The result of low fat diets is that we are much sicker than ever before, with a higher death rate from all causes since the 1970’s. (Nourishing Traditions quote, I believe.)

Grass fed meat raising is much better for the environment, especially when herds are combined to be larger, and then moved around a LOT, so that the large herd doesn’t hit the same piece of ground more than one time in 30 days. See Joel Salatin (website, books) and Allen (Alan?) Savory about this.

Problem is..How do I eat this way, and not get a HEART attack? What if these people had parasites that helped them with cholesterol? The cholesterol (LDL and HDL) from many people in paleo and primitive nutrition websites is frightening. There are also many studies linking saturated fat with many problems, specially cardiovascular. Do we ignore this studies?

  • @FreeRange1234

I guess so, you ignore the studies that show absolutely no connection between healthy fats and heart attacks. Healthy fats like anything natural, animal fats included. Stay away from hydrogenated veg oil.

The people selling vegetables oils are demonizing saturated fats to sell their own bad products. Higher cholesterol is more predictive of good health. Low cholesterol is more predictive of heart attacks. The book by Ravnskov (spelling) in Ignore the Awkward book shows many health studies that were low cholesterol and had to be stopped because they were killing people off.

Also, white flour and sugar make the small cholesterol bits hard and BB like. This state is more predictive of heart attacks than whether one has high or low cholesterol.

i see she's a registered dietitian and not just a member who's paid to say things.. (all said ironically). it's funny how she supports bone broth in here and in an article she claims not to eat veggie broth when both kinds are of the same benefits, i'd say get studied&certified and not paid to say stuff, believing that self study in order to raise a healthy child studying from fad books gives her no right to claim these unscientific "truths", while only a part of the claims is true
