Don, this one is a classic (this whole series, really). Thank you. I find myself returning to this series again and again, thank you for making Klein understandable and putting her ideas into a dialogue with other major theorists in the field. Makes me feel like I'm not floundering when I do read further on my own. Thanks again.

Im drunk, which is why I’m expressing myself, but your content really helps me. You’re a stern but caring, lucid voice and having a video of yours on feels pretty containing. Sometimes I’m barely paying attention, but there’s a lot more than mere information at play.

I would like to add that I have heard cases of M.E. sufferers being forcibly hospitalized in mental hospitals by police (& no doubt others) because they were too unwell to maintain their homes and the associated intellectual cognitive symptoms (slow processing skills, short-term memory loss, lack of concentration, mental confusion) were misinterpreted as mental health symptoms. Perhaps psychotherapists have also fallen into that trap?

Its definitely half of the equation. I've been learning about nutraceuticals and traditional chinese medicine. A book called Nutrient Power by Walsh has some interesting approaches, I also like the protocols of Morley Robbins and the saner ideas of Jack Kruse.

Amazing lecture! Where did you approach the movie alien as a metaphor for object relation theory?

Dear Don Carveth, first I'd like to thank you for your wonderful lectures which I've been listening a lot to recently as a psychiatry resident in Europe. They are unique to me as they combine a straight forward approach with in-depth thinking, it's great how you manage to do this. In this particular lecture at about 40.55 you mention the concept of self-idealisation, the autarchic fantasy or the causa sui fantasy which was Erik Erikson was blamed of. I am quite interested about this concept but couldn't find any information about this online or in my books. Do you happen to know of any article or book that elaborates on this? Thanks in advance, Simon

Neither is Showalter a psychoanalyst or anthropogist & therefore is dangerously unqualified to make such sweeping observations. How is her theory indicative of her own pathology?

This is not a concept are used personally. But I can imagine a very envious person reacting to NV with moral condemnation of those envied.
