Well Michael, I appreciate your comment. You are right, 2 finger is the best style. I like it because it is so diverse. Lord willing, I am planning on doing lessons again but last year I had a left sided stroke and then 2 months after that, I had a stroke on my right side. The good news is, they found I had a blood disorder that was causing them and now I'm on blood thinner and also the good news is, my left side is back to high functioning. I'm able to play the fretboard on the banjo. My right hand has come a long way but it is, more than likely, going to take a little longer until I'll be able to play the banjo again. The great news is I have Jesus Christ healing and helping me every step of the way. Lord willing, I am planning on coming back when I'm well enough to teach again. In the meanwhile, practice what I've taught, and maybe when you get that down really good, I'll be back to teaching new stuff. If that is God's plan for my life. God bless you in Jesus Christ. Shawn

It is Sunday afternoon here in England and I have found someone from where I originally come from West Virginia. I have lived in England most of my life and I am very much interested in learning to play the 5 string banjo. I do have one and also the tuner as well as the finger plecs and the strap. I want to learn the 2 finger method and I have always loved the sound of the banjo. My mother bless her could play the guitar and as far as I know I am the only family member who has been interested in playing something. I can play the ukulele a bit but I want to play the banjo and I cannot read music either. I have subscribed to your lessons and I think it is good because you and I can understand each other.

Hey Edward, thanks for writing. Yes, that's the nice thing about these lessons. You don't have to be able to read music or even play music of any kind. But if you go thru the lessons then you will be able to play the banjo. If you go into BanjoLogic channel videos, lessons #1, #2, and tuning the banjo are already there. Lesson #3 will be coming out soon. If you will do lesson 1 and 2 as I have taught it, then by lesson 3, I hope to have you playing the banjo. But, of course, there will be a whole lot more to learn. It's nice to hear from a fellow West Virginian, now in England. Thank you for subscribing and that will help the channel a lot, along with likes and shares. It also helps this style of banjo playing promoted. As always, all my lessons will always be free. It brings me joy when I can help someone learn to play the banjo. Blessings in Christ.❤🪕

I have been in a band for about 12 yrs playing the mandolin and my husband bought me a banjo for Christmas. I can't for the life of me get those rolls down! I don't know what rolls to use qith which song. I know how to pick out the song but don't know how to put a roll with it. So I'm hoping that the 2 finger style can get me started. Thank you for your lessons.

  • @banjologic

Yes, if you will watch these lessons and stick with them, you will be able to play the banjo . The nice thing about playing 2 finger style, is it is absolutely the most versatile way of playing the banjo. Bluegrass banjo is wonderful and I do love that style but it does limit you and I also love clawhammer but that also has limitations. But with 2 finger, there are just so many different variations you can do with that. Eventually, I will do a lesson that will teach you kind of where you will use rolls and different rolls in a tune but starting off with these beginner lessons, if you will stick with them, you will automatically start developing a natural feel for where you want to put your rolls into a song. Remember go slow, learn fast. Thanks for watching the videos. Blessings in Christ.
