Introduction/care Video of my Harpegnathos venator, gifted to me by ANTSHQ
After months of watching these ants I’m please to say I’ve finally got some Harpegnathos venator! The are gorgeous ants that seem so inquisitive! They have really good vision and seem to watch you with their big beautiful eye!
As always I have a general introduction into my ants with a basic care guild, I’ve also got a new nest with this the AntHQ Myrmeco nest which I give my first impressions on this nest. I know i have a repartition of being brutal, but i think I’m fair!
Don’t forget to leave a comment if you know what my mystery ant is!
A BIG THANK YOU!!!! to Antshq for gifting my channel these colonies and the nest, check out there website below!

This species makes gamergates, so even if both your queens die (which btw do at 4 or 5 years of age) the colony is technically immortal
Great to see you back on line with a new video - Great video / care format 😊

Great video Hoody! They are honestly one of the most amazing species you can keep. One tip is that you need to make sure they don't dry out. They can't drink from feeders or test tubes so you will have to figure out something else!

Also if you feed the roaches sugar water before feeding them, the ants drink sugarwater hahaha

Might need to put a shallow try and put water in that. Not deep enough to drown but big enough to last a-couple of days
I got thies set up yesterday at Central London show and ended up glueing the outworld down.
Dont worry, the stings are not bad from a Harpegnathos. Nice colony that too.
Enjoy this sp pal, loving mine, very entertaining

They are really cool ants! And you are right about the cephalotes, but she didn’t survive
My Harps laid at 26 degrees, they seem happy at that
Red colour, huge yep, looks like a messor cephalotes ;)
Messor Ceph?
Messor cephalotes
That water dish is way too small as you noted, it's not for humid species but even resting eggs on it is a bad idea. You can keep the top half from sliding a bit more if you put some tubing through both holes to connect them, though I don't know much about the hole dimensions. It would help it from shifting left and right. The light inside needs to have a dimmer switch big time, that is way too bright. Can you change the bulb? We have a similar thing over here in the U.S. from Tar Heel Ants and while they don't have the light, the water dish is more adequately sized and the outworld is connected a lot better as you made a great point on the issue. Imagine having an outworld filled with ants and you accidentally pull it off with a gaping hole at the bottom and all the ants rush down. That doesn't seem right at all.

No the lights are fixed, and if you see my video I dropped today, I’ve moved them out of it. Yeah I think going forward I’m going to glue the outworld down so it don’t move.

Get a small nest, not the one I’ve used, with a single large chamber, put some form of substrate, don’t use sand, coco fibre or soil is ideal and keep Carly humid.

@antshood3324 yeah, I've been looking at the AntsHQ Ultisol I nest, that looks ideal and is relatively cheap. Thanks for the advice.

this is what i got with mine buddy, if it was advertised with bits your missing speak to ants hq, as i’ve always found them to be accommodating.
That awkward moment when a company gives you a couple of hundred quids worth of ants and set-up, FOR FREE, because you're an "I'm really poor, but I want it, but I'm poor!!", whining beggar, and you turn it into a product review and slate the gift! Ungrateful beg AF.

Your more than welcome to think that matey, but it’s not what happened. I never approach a retailer asking for free stuff, they all come to me, I’m not one of those guys that’s says “I’m an influencer, I want free stuff!” Not me matey. Everyone that watches ant videos and is aware of me, knows I will give an honest opinion and not just say something is good because I’m obliged too because it’s free. Retailers also know this and that’s why I don’t get free stuff often. But this is your opinion so I’m cool with that.

@@antshood3324 No, from what I've seen you're one of those guys who states, often and pitifully, "I wish I could have 'x' but I can't afford it." "I'd love to have 'x', but I don't have the funds." "It'd be great if I could get 'x', but finances. . ." It amounts to the same thing. And I'm guessing in person, or one on one, you're worse. One of you in every hobby, dude.
