Few tips if you want make your cleanings a bit smoother, in my experience with large and aggressive colonies: 1) You can apply strips of barrier to your tools (I. E. Tubes, tweezers etc.) as a band around them, to vastly reduce the ants that climb up them and subsequently you. 2) Wear a pair of gloves (think nitrile type gloves) and also apply a strip of barrier around or on the glove. For stinging species, do the same, except wear a pair of thicker cloth gloves underneath. That way they can't climb up past your fingers or onto your arms, or at least vastly reduce the number. 3) You probably already know this, but how you apply the barrier can make quite the difference in its efficacy, especially for some types of fluon. Talcum is a low cost alternative just for your tools etc. if you care about cost. 4) While this may be quite cruel to some, if you are particularly lazy, or simply do not have the time, you can freeze the debree after this method to get rid of the stragglers and prevent garbage escapees. Love your videos btw, the above tips might just make your life a lot easier 😅

I would have used some gloves like I did with my solenopsis, but I didn’t have any! Lol! I wouldn’t want to freeze the rubbish as I don’t like killing my ants for anything, even for an easy life when cleaning.

Excellent video mate, just a point regarding putting barrier on the outside of the bin. Could you put it on after you've vacuumed the debris up whilst the bin is still attached to the hoover, letting it dry properly so you don't have to go over it again if/when you rub most of it off with your ham hands ? Just a thought. 😂

Great feedback mate 👍your right about the over engineering, the tops mpstly to try and exploit some ants tendencies to drop bodys (rubra) on there way out theyd carry bodys and seek out the nearest highground which would be the top central "spire" to drop it back in the bin 😅 thinking there works complete they head home then. Hopefully can spend more time marvelling at your girls. Carebears getting beastly to hahaha cheers mate 👍

I believe the ant garbage bin works better with species with less ants.

I still think it worked really well! Sorting through all that rubbish without using this bin is sooooo slow and time consuming
