Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Can a dog and rabbit live together? Can you actually train your dog to NOT hunt or hurt your rabbits? YES! In this video I show you how I trained my 2 dogs with a hunting instinct to not only coexist with my pet bunnies, but have a very special bond!

    My bunnies are Banksy and Buttercup and we're watching from Florida! Thanks for putting together another great video on a great topic! We're fortunate that our dog gets along great with our buns. But she's 15 years old, so we will eventually introduce new dogs to the family, and this will be very helpful! Now do you have the same tips for introducing cats, lol?! I have 2 cats... And between the 4 of them, they all take turns chasing one another!

    Isn't it so special to see a bond from a dog and bunny? At first I did not think I could ever trust my dogs by the buns but I'm so glad I did bc they love hanging out together!

    This is a fantastic video. I actually did most of these steps when I brought home my first bunny a couple years ago. My dog was shaking with excitement at the intro, but now she loves them and always checks to make sure they are ok. Having the crate next to the enclosure is a great idea… I’ll have to start doing that. It really is a joy having bunnies and dogs.

    I plan on getting a Holland Lop bunny this summer. I currently have a husky/mix that I rescued from a shelter when she was to believed to be 2 now I believe she is turning 6. She’s always been sweet with her stuffies. After I gave birth to my son she started to treat her favorite toy like it was her baby. Tried to “nurse” it and everything.. it was sad and cute to see at the same time. I wondering with having this information of her if it will be on the easier side to teach her new bun is a new house pet and not to be hunted. Thank you so much for this video. I plan to watch it continuously until I have new bun here and even during the training process because it’s so important to me for both to comfortable in their own homes! Thank you again! ❤

    hi!! this video was super helpful!!! i do have a question though, i already have a bunny and i will be getting a service dog very soon the thing i'm afraid of is that my bunny is already 8 and i don't want to stress her, but obviously a service dog will help tremendously with my disabilities shall i still train exactly like in the video or should i make some adjustments? :)

    Hi! I don’t have a dog, but I do have a bunny! I suggest getting a more gentle breed of service dog (if it’s purebred) if you haven’t decided on a breed already! Labradors are great for this, my family used to have a yellow lab. We had Guinea pigs, and we introduced them to her so they could co-exist safely. She would be lying down, completely calm, even turning her nose away from the Guinea pigs to let them know she wasn’t going to hurt them. Labs are, in general, more laid back than energetic and in hunting mode a lot. I’d imagine it’s actually better for the bunnies to feel more confident in your home already, because it’s already “their territory” and in their eyes, they aren’t in a “predator’s territory.” Bunnies have prominent prey instincts. Just be careful! I’d imagine it will be fine as long as you take it slow :)

  • @lesbianalien

    @lesbianalien

    (also, always make sure to supervise them together, even when they’re calm, because accidents do happen. keep the bunny and dog in separate rooms with the doors closed or keep the bunny in a larger closed off pen the dog can’t get in to if you’re ever away without your service dog or bunny. I’d imagine there’s not many situations where you need to do this, though, because since your dog is a service dog, you’re allowed to take them places most dogs aren’t allowed in. Which is perfect!)

    My partner and I are wanting to adopt 2 bunnies and 2 pit bulls. We started looking for both a bit but we aren't sure which animal to get first. Would it be better for the bunnies to get acclimated to the house first or the dogs first?

    I have a bunny and dogs, you should definitely get the bunny comfortable first bc they can have heart attacks if they become too afraid and it can take some of them a long time to get used to their owners/environment. Thankfully the baby bunny i got was handled often and the owner also had dogs so it only took her 4 days to get used to everything. hand feeding helps a ton.

    It helps if the bunny is the first one in the house so it can be established . And the dog is coming into the bunnies territory. Teach the dog bunny is family and always be around . Redirect and make sure they’re calm . Not to jump on bunny ever bite

    0:50 So you kept your bunnies inside safe but didn't care about the other animals YOUR dogs were killing outside... hmmm. They're still your dogs when they're outside, you know? That compassion you have for your animals can be extended to animals outside minding their own business.

    She never said cage. Crates aren't physically or mentally harmful to dogs when used properly. Dogs "nest" as much as rabbits and cats do. A lot of dogs appreciate having a crate, with or without the door closed. Crate training also makes housebreaking unbelievably easier and helps them be comfortable in a carrier when being transported in a car, train, or plane. Introducing a dog to any new animal, even other dogs, is made so much safer and easier when crates can be confidently used.
