This will be tough to do with my husky. She’s really smart and spoiled, this will hurt her feelings bad. I have to find a way to help her keep distance, without getting upset or jealous of the baby. Lots of treats!

I love your rules, I feel I am already moderately strict with my boy. I am more concerned about accidents, but I guess ciders can happen if they are not allowed close to the baby for the first few months. Place command is going to come in real handy 😂

This is such solid information ❤ we just brought home a newborn and our dog is very confused. He crys when she is laying down like whimpers. But when we are holding our daughter he acts afraid. We are a bit confused but there's been no aggression

my old female dog wasn't really fond of my wife, but she never left her side when she was pregnant. Then when the baby was born she stayed right away from the baby until my wife let her near and from that day forward to the day we had to put Sam down she and my daughter were the best of friends. I think it's because she had a few litters her self before I met my wife so she kind of knew how to behave instinctively. (Sam was my black lab and NOT my now ex-wife and I will leave it at that)

My dog is 1 1/2 years old we recently had a baby and every time we go to cradle the baby he starts to whine and wag his tail kinda like excited about it like when he gets a new toy what does it mean what should I do every time he whines when we get close to her and kiss her

Helpful because some people let the dog lick the baby right in the face and lay on the newborn. I have a small dog and she gets very excited around new people and offens jumps on people legs. I hoping to teach her boundarie around the newborn. A little nervous about my in laws hound dog because she like to jump on people.

I need help with this. I’m having my first baby in December. I have 2 dachshunds 2 year old and a 10 year old. My older dog was rescued from an abuse home and is stressed out by kids. How do I ease her in gently without her freaking out. She’s our first dog of the family.

What if you’ve already had a dog for a couple months? When they are already past the hey this my member you need to respect them too? We got our dog after having kids.

What do you do if dog is actually avoiding baby at the beginning and becoming anxious. Runs and hides when hears baby crying? Loss of appetite?

Im about to have my first baby and my husky is a super anxious dog that frankly hates fast quick movement. He is fine around baby babies but when they start moving it’s like he sees them as prey or something and wants to lunge at them. I’m very concerned what I should do?

How do you keep dogs from baby’s space ? Is dog leashed at all times or how is this done ?

What if I already let my husky sniff my newborn at 4 days old? Can I restart these training techniques with my husky? She constantly wants to come around and sniff the baby and sniff her belongings. We do tell our husky to “back up” now from baby and try to distance her.

I'm a bit confused because my sister has two yorkies. One yorkie absolutely loves the newborn. Refuses to leave his side, even wimpers and cries when the baby isn't there. The other yorkie on the other hand is almost resentful and jealous. Normally this one is the spunky excited one but when baby is around this one is suddenly distant and quiet. She even keeps distance and deliberately turns her back to everyone. Not sure what to do.

Sounds like one is super attached and claimed possession over the baby and the other understands her place without having to be told.

we are expecting our first baby in October. We have 2 shih poos. The older girl will be good I think, but our 3 year old male gets really jealous and barks at people he doesn't know.

Same problem here. My dog is really jealous towards babies. I'm afraid he tries to hurt mine... How did you solve that?

im nervous about how my dog will act around the baby . he is a chiuahaua/yorkie and superrrrrrr jealous even when my boyfriend and i hug or get close! im in the process of training him but i have four months until the baby arrives.

'it's me or the dog' in UK, Victoria she teaches.. people the exact opposite things.. right away letting the dog.. sniffing the baby, blanket and push their nose everywhere and making them be overprotective of the baby..

@@NecroMorrius if you go and check the way Cesar Milan talks about the dog meeting a baby for the very first time.. it is logical and intuitive and completely opposite of everything Victoria does here.

Since i got my pit ive thought her that you are easy with kids but so far ive only had her around toddlers and im bout to start babysitting a newborn but ik she gets worked up it u pick a kid up or a child crys i feel like shell be good girl but im nervous bout such a tiny lil human around this big pitbull

Hi mom of 5 here, my 9,4,2 and 10 month old are the issue lol not the new puppy. How do you keep the excited kids away from the puppy? I have rules but i guess more detail on enforcing those rules. I dont want to remove the puppy each time because puppy did nothing wrong. Puppy is laying there and 2&3 year old are all up in his space petting and loving it. Which is okay, after its been trained and we have no fear of any accidents. Puppy is a german Shepard

If you don’t trust your dog, the dog would never trust you, luckily dogs are smarter than humans! You teach fear by being precautious, cause when you’re precautious the feeling of fear and thoughts already took place in your mind! I have 8 rescues, both as adults & puppies, I’m middle aged so I had a young girl visiting with her 4 months old baby, she came in with her baby in her baby car sit and just put it down right in the middle of our pack, dogs sniffed baby’s face while wagging their tails and then they went back to their places! Aggressive dogs - no dog is born aggressive, aggression comes from being provoked to defend themselves! So again, when you use aggressive methods on your dogs they get offensive, but if you use soft methods your dogs will behave as you’ve teach! Only stubborn dogs that have terriers in their heritage might need more determined education, you need to read the dogs body language and mental state, many of them have a soft personality! Strays knows in general how to behave, I’ve never met 1 aggressive straydog in my 52 y so far I live in Sweden where keeping dogs in cages are strictly forbidden & collars with electric shocks! I have a malteser in my home who’s preowner used electric shocks on him, he bite my hands each time I gave him a bath, or grooming or putting his collar on for taking them out, it lasted for 2-3 months!

I plan on using this method, But if my dog EVER hurts my daughter, It'll be his last day on Earth.

If your dog hurts your baby, it’s YOUR FAULT. If you’re an owner who thinks that way, you shouldn’t have an animal.

Your method is cruel. You can't exclude the dog from the pack just because a new baby has arrived.

It's not about excluding the dog. It's about keeping the dog in the environment but staying calm and giving distance. This is what dogs do. Natural Dog Behavior.

Definitely disagree it is not cruel it makes alot of sense because female dogs do the same thing with their puppies iv seen it many times even to the dog it makes sense

Imagine a stranger walked up to you and started licking or touching your child and you had no idea who they were, what their motives were, where they're from, etc. As far as you're concerned, your child is now in danger because why would you assume otherwise? So it's time to defend. Every animal mother shares this mentality. This video helps us communicate that sentiment to our dogs BECAUSE we want our dogs to be a part of the entire family. This is also something something a dog will understand because they would do the same. There's no exclusion here. It's in fact the opposite.
