Microsoft was actually working on a feature called Sets which was supposed to release with the May 2020 update but they cancelled it since it had too many bugs. There is one paid app which allows you to emulate the functionality of Sets but I can't remember it's name.

The thing is that Windows 10 is based on 25-year-old code so it's hard to make drastic changes. If Microsoft doesn't manage to do something like this on Windows 10X then it's going to be concerning because that is being built from scratch, if you think about it already looks kinda like that.

I've been using it for a while and it's pretty good. It's not on the Microsoft store though, if i find a link to it i'll add it here.

I disagree. 100% of the cases, when I need to view/have open 2 folders at the same time in the file explorer, it's because I need to move stuff from one folder to the other so, for this, I always use two windows opened side by side, so I can see the contents of both folders at the same time. I can see myself never ever using the tabs feature because it wouldn't be useful for me; why would I want to have 2 or more folders opened if I could only see the contents of only one of the at any time? I can see the usefulness of tabs when browsing the web, but I not for browsing the file tree.

I clicked on this with low expectations, I'm leaving this video expecting you to be hired by Microsoft. Absolutely amazing design!

That's because you do not know or seen any of Microsoft alternatives for Windows. All Microsoft employees must sign an NDA to keep all development secret. I hope you understand why! I can assure Microsoft already has looked, is looking, and knows about all of these alternatives. However, implementing any OS goes beyond looks. And, as far as Windows is concerned their OS must integrate flawlessly with their other programs and services. Not easy at all. The implementation logistics for 87% of the world's OS market that Microsoft has is quite complex. I think windows 20 won't be on computers as we know them today. A new network will have to be deployed, as if Sims and real-life would collide into a 3D vocal, eye contact and gestures interface. I don't think it will only be in windows alone, it will be on other platforms as well.

so as you said, I think there will be (this is both funny but I also concern this to happen too) - Meta announced the new 3D/AR/VR/MR social media "Metality" - After that above news Apple introducing "iEyes" as 1st smart glasses for compete with Google Glasses and uses with Metality - Google announced new Android OS for 3D/AR/VR/MR named "Android Reality" yeah many ideas through to my mind and I 99.99999% sure that at least 1 of these will be true someday.

0:22 he legit predicted the future of taskbars. Look at the one that’s poking out. Remind you of anything? That’s very similar to the Windows 11 taskbar

His taskbar, curved edges, settings and find menu really became a thing in new Windows 11!

Seacue 0:47 As a Windows Insider, I can tell you that there were a few builds (I forgot which builds they were) that were never released as a stable build and they had tabs, except it would open a sort of Microsoft search engine which you can search the web and your files. You could also open folders in new tabs. Microsoft scrapped it a few builds later. This was last year. The tab interface was very laggy.

But that's mostly because I am feared they will change it so much that I will have a hard time to get used to it. Like it was with the settings menu that replaced, not fully, but replaced the control panel. If they just make it look better, and keeps the functionality and all things in the same place I will be happy.

@Yharon is alone it quite self explanatory if you know what an OSS or open source software is. In open source software you have the source code which kets you modify the software (operating system in our case),find bugs by yourself,add remove stuff you don't want and be able to see how everything works. On the other hand microsoft windows is closed they don't provide the source code so no user or developer outside can fix any issue in the operating system,cannot really modify it and many other things. Open source (linux) ks free and is developed by various individuals including likes of ubuntu,manjaro,red hat etc. Or you can make a os that's unique just for you. Windows is owned by Microsoft the devs outside cant touch it. Google linux vs windows open source for more info . Its quite deep topic if you want to get full idea.

I'm not so sure about that. Windows 11 looks like Windows 10X and Windows 10X had demos of leaked builds out as early as February 2020, rough 2 months before this video. Microsoft would have had the design long before this concept was made. It's more likely that his designs are based on Windows 10X rather than MS copying his design.

This is the best Windows update concept I've come across so far. Fantastic.

Wait a minute, this video posted at 19 Apr. 2020! I'm using the new Insider version of the Windows 11 and they really copied your concept!! Keep designing these awesome concepts!

@@thewatcher7616 yeah there are some good looking Linux UIs (especially running on KDE) but for the average user that installing them is still harder than just using the windows their prebuild/laptop came with. Also. Even though you can get some pretty good looking UIs, you can't currently get exactly this one without making it yourself.

The only thing that he added was the folder tabs and who uses folders so much to the point of needing tabs anyway...
